- mlaw2010, on 10/10/2007, -38/+86Where is Al Gore and his hot air when you need him?
- BkMotto, on 10/10/2007, -25/+66Arrrrghhhhhh! Look out! Global Cooling!
- shaconage, on 10/10/2007, -28/+56Global Warming? er uh Cooling? ah what the heck.....just blame it on Bush!
- IceZZ, on 10/10/2007, -14/+30Global warming will produce cold snaps. Thinking that global warming means you get more heat all the time is a misconception. Weather will become more and more erratic, while the average temp rises. Kinda like 56f in NYC while it is 115f in Phoenix.
- shanehonda, on 05/19/2009, -11/+24Idiot. Global warming causes extreme weather patterns of all sorts.
- st3vo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16Southern California on the other hand was freaking hot today.
- rudy23, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16It was so cold and wet today that I was walking through central park and I could see squirrels trying to blow dry their nuts
- IceZZ, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14No, you get wider and wider fluxuations. The average temp continues to rise.
- ChromaVita, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12But I live in Orlando Florida, and i had no clue that it was that cold in NYC. You realize when the rest of the world turns on their TV, we don't see the same NYC News channel that you do right?
- Renton, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12This is a simple cold front. Go educate yourself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_front
- arcee, on 10/10/2007, -11/+19What did they blame it on in 1911?
- Noctem, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Yeah, only 115F in Phoenix is _normal_ summer weather there.
- sasso, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13it's funny that many people think "global warming" means that it just gets hot everywhere. global warming is about climate change and some of those changes include cooling based on things like changing ocean currents.
i don't really know much (or enough, perhaps) about it, but i'm definitely not dense enough to ignore the fact that our climate seems to have changed dramatically and quickly. - Dumbledorito, on 10/10/2007, -8/+16And yet the drought in southwest Missouri is the worst in 47 years, and much of the US is still suffering from an unusually prolonged heat wave.
http://www.semissourian.com/story/1247349.html
But many of you were claiming that a single day in New York somehow proves climate change (change? You mean unusual weather) was bogus. Please carry on. - elcaminos, on 10/10/2007, -6/+13Thank God accredited climatologists are here on Digg to learn us idiots.
- jimmiss, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9It's the truth. Look it up.
/ I wish I could say your the stupidest person I've seen in a while. - ReadItAndWeep, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11Conservatives are so predictable. Every time there is a cold day they have to open up their pie-holes and say something ignorant. I live in Atlanta and it was 100 degrees today. We're going through a drought and it has been one of the hottest Augusts in history. Of course, we don't hear a peep from them now, but wait untill we get our first cold front in October and predictably you will hear "so much for global warming, huh?" You can't trust people who think the Earth is 6,000 years old when it comes to science.
- ICSU, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7That's why it's called climate change. So rednecks won't have to turn to semantics all the time like they often do in religious debates.
- skyshock1, on 10/10/2007, -9/+15So a single cold front affecting about less than 1% of the globe is reason to discount the belief that the climate of the entire Earth's is slowly rising? I mean, I don't even buy into the theories about global warming, but even I can see that latching onto one anomaly of anecdotal evidence and presenting it as a blanket contradiction is ***** stupid.
- ZephyrNinety, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7It's witch-***** cold over here on the east coast, that's all I can say.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It's in our Brazil loggin our treez.
- shanehonda, on 05/19/2009, -4/+9I can't believe how many people talk authoritatively about global warming without much knowledge. But I guess that's true of most topics on sites like Digg, sadly.
- melonhedd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5How convenient that it explains all the mystifying properties of weather and climate.
- cusoman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Big deal. We've had snow in August in Minnesota.
- Koldkompress, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Global *Climate* change is happening, and has always happened, to some degree.
Whether that's bad, or whether we impact it to such a massive degree is debatable. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7And we know this from only 100 out of millions of years?
By that logic, I guess you can also describe a person's body by his toenail as well. - greatcaffeine, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I wouldn't mind some of that weather. ***** this heat, I'm tired of sweating all day.
- IceZZ, on 10/10/2007, -6/+10Dear god, you conservatives really are stupid.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5keyword: predicted
aka wrong - sabach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That's my greatest misgiving about the current global warming theories, there's just not enough data. On the other hand, much of what they're saying makes sense and if reducing fossil fuel use might help then why not? If nothing else it reduces the influence of foreign oil barons over our economy. Finally, one large volcano blowing its top can drastically affect global temperatures for a decade.
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Thats just the excuse used when the weather doesn't compliment the global warming compliment. Extreme cold in the winter?...Global warming.
It snowed in Los Angeles this year for the first time since I've moved here (1987). That's because of warming? - CosmoP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I agree but when it's extra hot please don't say anything about global warming either. it works both ways
- Oracle95, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Part of the problem is that with all these news networks and weather channels you need some type of crisis for their ratings. If you actually read the research on global warming, you see many miscalculations or erroneous assumptions. Consider that many of the scientists cited on one UN report are suing to have their names disassociated with the report because the conclusion in the summary is different than what they concluded with their research.
Simply put, there is no research grants for a "everything is fine" report, you need a catastrophe to get the money, even if it takes a little fudging to get it. - thebaron2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3So was it Global Warming in 1911 also - the last time that it was 56F in New York during August?
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8Shh, no facts. We want to talk about how the coldest August day ever in NYC completely disproves any notion of global warming.
- ncairns, on 10/10/2007, -10/+13God you're a ***** idiot.
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I don't worry about global warming. I just figure nuclear winter will eventually cancel it out.
- fmaxwell, on 10/10/2007, -10/+12Global warming means that the average temperature, worldwide, goes up, not that each and every day the temperature of any given city is higher. Global warming leads to climate destabilization, explaining why we have seen a significant increase in severe storms, flooding, tornadoes, cyclones, etc. in the past decade. It also explains temperatures which fluctuate much more.
- sailor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2sucker...you bought it all....by you vote democratic too....Gore Whore!
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ha, well i'll give you that. I think we should just stop connecting global climate change to this story altogether. no reason to bring it up, it's just a local occurrence.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/10/2007, -7/+9I wish my widget told me it was going to be this cold so I could've dressed appropriately!
- RenZ87, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I don't think you saw what he did there
- sailor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2hmmm...a good way that you can make sure no one can argue the opposite...quit being a dumbass...your being used by the liberal/environmental/extremes vote whores...
- reyalp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It said nothing about global warming in the article, and most of the posters were being sarcastic. But hey, you were doing really well until you started cursing. I guess there's always next time.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6lol...so everyone that's a skeptic on global warming is now a Libertarian? I guess Libertarians have replaced Republicans as the most feared by Democrats. I wonder why.....
- jspegele, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Dude, you need to move.
- pauleric, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Perhaps you're unaware that New York is in the Northern Hemisphere and, as such, is currently in the middle of the summer.
- Powder, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3***** the cold, I can handle the cold. It's the water that is flooding the area around this house I can't do ***** about. (I live in the midwest, northwest ohio to be exact)
- Soave, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Perfect beach weather though.
- sh0k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Its been 106F all week in AL.
Trade you. -
