- Agentdvd, on 07/21/2009, -1/+22Achievement unlocked: World's #1 Air Polluter
- AmyVernon, on 07/20/2009, -1/+19w00t! Go China!
- compucomp2, on 07/21/2009, -2/+17The USA still generates way more pollution than China, especially per capita but even by raw amount. Don't get too happy with yourselves.
- rabidjester, on 07/21/2009, -0/+11I'm thoroughly enjoying the new "Onion sold to China and Salvage Fishery" stuff, especially the videos. Be sure to go to the main page to check out the new Onion when you have a chance. Good times.

Gotta wonder how long they're going to keep it this way. - jdh24, on 07/21/2009, -0/+8USA needs to be #1 at everything! USA! USA!
- zeth006, on 07/21/2009, -0/+7The funny part is that our pollution levels aren't any higher than they already are because we (and other countries with companies outsourcing) export our air-polluting factory jobs to China and buy stuff made in those factories. If the super-protectionists had their way, we'd have both jobs AND pollution levels remaining here in America.
- budboomer, on 07/21/2009, -2/+7Let's cap and tax them.
- BaphClass, on 07/21/2009, -0/+5Can I substitute laughter for a nice face-stabbing instead?
- lolwatermelon, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4China will grow LARGER.
- MrFisty, on 07/21/2009, -1/+5Even though this is an Onion article, the fact that China is such a big polluter is kinda to be expected... considering the rest of the world essentially uses them as their factory.
- inactive, on 07/21/2009, -0/+4pssst, "figuratively"
- rjshatz, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3The Onion! Brave news for bring prosperity and peace to Mother China!
- zeth006, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3You're missing the point. Nowhere in my comment do I state that America's would be higher than China's in the event that outsourcing doesn't exist. I only said that America's emissions levels would be higher than it already is if it weren't for outsourcing.
Way to go for reading comprehension fail.
Another point is that with the control that our corporations have over the government in the form of lobbying, I *highly* doubt we'd have stricter emissions controls than we have today. An overidealistic assessment. Plus don't forget. America isn't the only country exporting its manufacturing sector to China. - JLecker, on 07/21/2009, -2/+5What?! I can't believe the nerve of the Chinese. Just who do they think--
*looks at url*
Oh. - inactive, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3The whole "being acquired by Yu Wun Mei fish salvagry" is by far the greatest thing the Onion has done.
- jdh24, on 07/21/2009, -2/+5anymore? never could, really
- lolwatermelon, on 07/21/2009, -0/+3"POLICE! POLICE! hhhheEEEEEELLLP!

Are.. are you high? - Thuktun, on 07/24/2009, -0/+2No, that would pollute.
- inactive, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2Burn those workstations and torch those monitors!
- HimThatSpeaks, on 07/21/2009, -1/+3Ah, but I see bigger implications. Add the worst smog in the world to the world's largest population, over 1.2 billion, and do you know what kind of health epidemic that will cause and its pull on China's financial/health resources? And then if the Chinese could file civil law suits, that will never happen, but what if?
- xanderm, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2i've seen posters from 40 years ago in which they (we) do use smoke and chimneys as a positive sign to celebrate the industrial achievements. not any more thankfully.
- hivoltage815, on 07/21/2009, -1/+3http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/satire
- iceperson, on 07/21/2009, -2/+4Compared to the US china produces more than 4 times the pollution of the US per GDP.
- placombe, on 07/21/2009, -0/+2Sad (and funny) because it's true. Smokestacks used to be a sign of progress in the United States and in the rest of the now-developed world.
- ericthesalmon, on 07/21/2009, -3/+5Higher efficiency though technology and gov't restrictions on emissions mean we'd still be much cleaner than China even if we produced all crap.
- Quaestor44, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1ADJUSTING GAS VALVES!
- burRIDERton, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1Performing an ode to Acid Rain!
- ghatid, on 07/21/2009, -1/+2It's okay! Just like Gore, they must buy a lot of carbon credits! That stuff makes everything okay!
- SilverBack101, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1We're number 1! We're number 1! *cough* We're number *cough hack wheeze* 1...we're...*gasp wheeze* numb...*thud*

- Heavenfall, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1This ***** is ***** old. That video is what, 6 months old?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD. Buried for old. - tspchen, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1I love my people - don't take anything away from us :)
- saintsfan, on 07/21/2009, -0/+1Not necessary I'm simply pointing out that this wouldn't be the proper forum to get deeply involved in a conversation regarding one country's pollution over another. Regardless of what you think of the Onion, it is all a joke not meant to start a political revolution. You do remember them reporting on the Harry Potter book having movie spoilers in it, right?
- inactive, on 07/21/2009, -1/+2POLICE! POLICE! hhhheEEEEEELLLP!

- corbinho, on 07/21/2009, -0/+0and i like how they all wear those masks in the airport, like our air is too dirty
- SchmuckofNI, on 07/21/2009, -1/+1I wouldn't be surprised considering there are over a billion chinese squeezed together in one space...
- sentinel106, on 07/21/2009, -2/+2With the USA at a close second, I'm going to keep my damn mouth shut.
- fatlildragon, on 07/21/2009, -1/+1Well, rapidly developing country plus the fact that there are 1.4 billion people- SURPRISE. We, the great US of A should really worry about ourselves first. As a developed country with 300 million people, we have no excuse.
