- Dumbledorito, on 10/05/2008, -2/+25He likes to preserve wildlife... in cages, so it can be hurled into the air where he can shoot at it.
- lockr, on 10/05/2008, -1/+17Have you ever noticed that politicians frequently seem to say the exact opposite of what they really mean?
- jdthree, on 10/05/2008, -4/+18Yes.... and if my Aunt had a package she'd be my Uncle.... but alas neither will never happen.... Because why would a Conservative care about the environment???
Nice way to embarrass yourself Dick.... even more than being the worst VP ever in our country's history. - m0llusk, on 10/05/2008, -0/+7It is true that the Bush and Cheney administration has damaged protections such as against road building and for endangered species, but one big step forward they did make was the Hawaiian Marine Sanctuary which protects a huge area of critical habitat at risk. That could turn out to be strategically important to saving the Pacific from pollution and overfishing.
- USAFdude, on 10/05/2008, -2/+8Really....? Am I the only one who realizes that Palin is a total dumb ass and that this has gone on far enough.... it almost makes me sick to my stomach when i speak to informed conservatives who actually stand behind this choice of VP knowing damn well that this was a dangerous and erratic move made by a 72 yo politician trying to save his campaign, it scares me to think that this could even be close to a possibility
- milarepa, on 10/05/2008, -0/+6It's nice to know that after all that they still have a sense of humor.
- ldailey06, on 10/05/2008, -3/+8Conservatives do care about the environment...when it's politically expedient to do so.
- Hrodrik, on 10/05/2008, -1/+6I lolled at the title.
- stonewall123, on 10/05/2008, -1/+6Ohhhh... that's why he shot that guy in the face. He was only protecting the poor defenseless quails. It all makes sense now!
- mlLk, on 10/05/2008, -2/+7Palin: Bare-knuckle boxes polar bears because she can.
- hnazareth16, on 10/05/2008, -2/+7Yeah, it's a high priority now when their presidential term is almost over. Good work, Cheney!
- lemurs, on 10/05/2008, -1/+5Look, this is all a simple misunderstanding. Cheney, has over these past 8 years, consistently shown a commitment to preserving Wild Life. In fact Cheney has produced a lip smacking preserve of every wild animal on the endangered species list. I hear they go great with toast and the blood of the innocent.
- mbelleghem, on 10/05/2008, -0/+4How on earth do these guys think that saying stuff like this isn't guaranteed to come back and bite their arse hard in years to come?
This and the ongoing Palin debacle makes me think that the Republican party has been driven to extinction by the internet. When information is cheap, secrets are expensive.
Hopefully post Nov-Jan implosion, a critical mass of 20-something Ron Paul fans will pick up the smouldering wreckage and reassemble it into a proper political party based on the party's historic value set. - mishaco, on 10/05/2008, -0/+4is this the punch line or the joke ?
- xavyre, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3And the only reason they had ANYthing to do with that was because they had no financial stake in the area.
- SpinningHead, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3"Information is the currency of democracy" - Thomas Jefferson
Now we just need to keep McCain out of office to protect net neutrality. - nomadxx7, on 10/05/2008, -1/+4It's called "double speak" or "talking out both sides of your mouth"
It's Politics 101. - Corrosionx, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3Of course, "Wildlife Conservation" as done by the government means stealing people's lands because there's some type of "endangered" bird there. It's evil so it must be one of Cheney's priority.
- warlax27, on 10/05/2008, -0/+3In a related Interview by Dick: "Ra Ra Ra Ra, Go ***** yourself, Ra Ra Ra Ra!"
- xavyre, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2Remember one can be informed with incorrect information.

- rlh1, on 10/05/2008, -1/+3Didn't Nixon start the EPA ???
- secrity, on 10/05/2008, -1/+3Who are these "informed conservatives", and why aren't they saying anything in public?
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -1/+3Wild conservation was as much a high priority of the Bush admin., as is the Conservation of human beings!
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -1/+3“has arguably been the most anti-environmental in our nation’s history.” Ironic that he ran against Al Gore.
- lex0nyc, on 10/05/2008, -0/+2We must protect the sporting and recreational species!
- cheezintern, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Too bad human life conservation wasn't a priority...
- jdthree, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Sorry.... my Pastor wouldn't allow it....
- angusm, on 10/05/2008, -9/+10"I think I speak for all of us who would like to see this great nation's unique wildlife preserved ... stuffed and mounted as trophies on our walls. As you know, this administration has consistently put wildlife and our beautiful environment first. In order to ensure that Americans value the rich treasures of our country, we have tried to open up national parks to snowmobiles. An appreciation for nature cannot develop if you never have the chance to get out into the wild - and what better way to see the wild than from the back of a racing snowmobile? Snowmobilers of today are the stewards of the environment of tomorrow.
We have been criticized for promoting drilling in the Antarctic National Wildlife Reserve. Once again, it is our goal to bring people to the wilderness of Alaska, so that they can see for themselves the many treasures of this amazing country. We want them to see animals in their natural habitats, not reduced to a flickering television image on the Discovery Channel, but up close and personal. In fact, so close that they can just lean out of the cab of their bulldozers and backhoes and touch them.
Our administration, the liberals will tell you, has aimed to 'gut' the Endangered Species Act. Well, as someone who has gutted a good many endangered species in my time, I can tell you that they don't know what they're talking about. We believe that it isn't the business of government to protect endangered species. Rather, we should look to big businesses - who, if the liberals get their way, will be the most endangered species of all - to protect our living heritage as they see fit."
(the remainder of this transcript of the vice-president's speech is missing, having apparently been eaten by an elk, or carried off by a bald eagle or spotted owl, or one of the many other species that have flourished under the enlightened protection of the current administration). - charlietuna, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1HA HA HA
http://ia350609.us.archive.org/0/items/VincentPric ... - xavyre, on 10/05/2008, -1/+2Wildlife Conservation = Save the animals so they can hunt them down. That's how it is here in Maine too.
I guess the republicans are trying to be as funny as possible before they are forgotten. - hockeysmurf, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Wildlife conservation is a red herring for government land grabs.
- ace429k, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1shoot I'm betting they have not done any NEPA's to consult on land management either when dealing with government agencies. (Following the National Environmental Policy Act)
- Cattywampus, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Cheney's gotta keep those wild critters alive so he and his buddies can go hunt them. Otherwise, he'd have no one to shoot except his buddies. Oh, wait, he's already done that...
- xavyre, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Its arrogance.
- jdthree, on 10/21/2008, -0/+1Well Jet Boy.... Pray Tell, where are all these great environmental policies that you conservatives have that we don't know about????
Are they locked up in the same safe that Bush has put his morals in for the past eight years???? - chillo, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1I wonder if he actually believes what he's saying - or - knows he's trying to sell a big load of steaming dungus?
- DestroyFascism, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Cheney does have a sense of humor...
- JoeVet, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1So now Chaney has begun rewriting the Bush/Cheney administration history. Next he'll be saying that they did their best to help the American middle class or that they care about science education.
- Dumbledorito, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Don't tell them there's such a thing as "fish oil," or everything with fins is screwed.
- johnsna2, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1Well for this election it certainly is, john mccain offers pitiful solutions to our environmental problems. Although you could say Nader is arguably the "greenest" candidate.
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1President Bush and Vice-President Cheney are both avid sportsmen. Thank you for your service, gentlemen, in making you administration the greenest ever. The weary Earth healing, thanks to you.
- IrishKeith, on 10/05/2008, -0/+1I can't believe he actually thinks anyone will believe his B.S.
- honeybrass, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Cheney speaks! I didn't know he liked cute defenseless animals. Sigh, all evil overlords have a soft spot. (probably why he took the hapless Bush under his wing)
- CYCLEORDIE, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1No one else digg this story!!! leave it at 666 diggs!
- sigg14, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1yeah but we are the wildlife
- inactive, on 10/05/2008, -0/+0Because they support Ron Paul and you automatically dismiss them as nuts.
- poprocksandsoda, on 10/05/2008, -2/+1The "League of Conservation Voters" ... is a Left-wing business and not an independently thinking not-for-profit. I just read their website where they endorse Obama with the highest rating ever.
http://lcv.org/obama/
Which, if they were a non-profit, would cause them to instantly lose their status. 10 of the 12 on their Dirty Dozen list are Republicans.
If these people truly cared about the environment they wouldn't hide behind a Left-wing political advocacy. Why is the environment a Left-Right issue? - secrity, on 10/05/2008, -2/+1Ron Paul is also against abortions: "As an O.B. doctor of thirty years, and having delivered 4,000 babies, I can assure you life begins at conception. I am legally responsible for the unborn, no matter what I do, so there's a legal life there." He is also anti-gay, he advocates allowing states to refuse to recognize gay marriages performed in other states.
