- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -15/+136Bush seems genuinely to enjoy causing harm to other people. Some would term him a sociopath.
- wonderchemist, on 11/04/2008, -7/+126Clean water for all? Isn't that socialist?
- MorganMghee, on 11/03/2008, -6/+55Wonder who is responsible for clean water? Your comfortable assumption that anything coming out of a faucet is safe? Ralph Nader, that's who.
- cobophers, on 11/04/2008, -4/+50Teddy Roosevelt was a republican...too bad he's not here to kick Bush's ass.
- HumanNouveau, on 11/04/2008, -2/+46Let's keep a watch on this site for the next couple months.

Outgoing guy with nothing much to lose... keep an eye on the china and the executive orders. - inactive, on 11/04/2008, -0/+30*facepalm* Actually, that would be William Boetcker, not Lincoln.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_J._H._Boetcke ... - mycoplasma, on 11/04/2008, -2/+31It's like the Daily Show said: There's no way he can possibly be the best president, but if he really strives he just might be the last.
- FasterGun, on 11/04/2008, -0/+28Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.
-George Washington - Chaotix, on 11/04/2008, -1/+26Best line in the article:
“Literally and figuratively, this rule puts the Bush Administration’s stamp of approval on a load of manure” - mrgeekguy, on 11/04/2008, -2/+26***** you Bush, Seriously, ***** You.
- piratearggghhh, on 11/04/2008, -1/+23I don't understand how someone with so much blood on his hands, ruin a whole economy and threatens our environment can be a free man. Thanks for voting this ***** into office twice. We should've impeached him years ago.
- malex, on 11/04/2008, -0/+20Dude, here's lodged in there until January. This is just the start of his Sherman-To-The-Sea campaign.
- charm803, on 11/04/2008, -1/+21Let's stop getting mad, people.
We already know that the power to efficiently organize is possible.
The real question:
What can we do now?
And also, we need to stop being lazy butts.
Whoever wins the White House, we need to be more involved and keep tabs on our President.
We can't just vote them in and hope for the best! - lebondarken, on 11/04/2008, -0/+19Clean water? Yes. Nationalizing the banks? No.
Wait a second.... - litfsh, on 11/04/2008, -0/+18This is by no means new behavior for the Bush administration. Soon after taking office, he instructed the justice dept. to stop investigation on dozens of polluting power companies, all of which had contributed to his campaign. I'm no legal expert, but that sounds a lot like bribery to me.
He has also appointed many power company shills to key positions in the EPA and the justice department to keep it going. Several of these offices have revolving doors. Someone quits at Exxon-Mobil, say, gets appointed in the White House, works for a couple years, quits, and goes back to work at, say, BP. It's really disgusting. - doublefelix, on 11/04/2008, -1/+18Is this like his Clean Air Act where he raised acceptable pollution levels for power plants located near respiratory centers?
- ajb2015, on 11/04/2008, -2/+18Obama should start off his presidency by immediately creating an emergency "clean-up-after-Bush" task force to write a huge bill that reverses 8 years of mayhem.
- litfsh, on 11/04/2008, -0/+16a sociopath doesn't need to enjoy harming others, a sociopath is simply someone with no moral qualms about harming other people in exchange for one's own good. Many CEOs of large corporations are technically sociopathic.
- BeatPunchbeef, on 11/04/2008, -6/+22Go ***** yourself bush. Your reign of terror could not end soon enough.
And BTW, anyone who helped vote this jackoff into a second term, let alone the first term, you can cram it with walnuts too. (Sorry mom. But really, what the hell?) - cheezintern, on 11/04/2008, -0/+14I highly doubt he's a sociopath, or enjoys harming people.....it's probably more like he just doesn't care. He's simply a champion for the poor underrepresented multinational.
- Zandarrr, on 11/04/2008, -2/+16Corporations 22 - Humanity 0
- Mardala, on 11/04/2008, -1/+15"Devastate the coal industry?" lol. I guess you didn't get the memo, from the president of the United Mine Workers Union who said Obama's plan was taken out of context by removing some key words, and than in fact his plan is better for coal miners than McCain's and the union is supporting Obama ... guess you missed that, eh?
- Techx4, on 11/04/2008, -0/+13I approve this message.
- thenekkidtruth, on 11/04/2008, -6/+19Someone needs get that loose-cannon Machiavelian cowboy to sit on his hands.
- Ultraviolet98, on 11/04/2008, -1/+14Bush seems to be pretty intent on ***** up as much ***** as he can during his last months in office. Heck, just a few weeks ago he enacted the PRO-IP law which violates several amendments in the constitution.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -2/+14Crap. Okay, so on another environmental story, I said just ***** it because I think if we're dumb enough to trash our environment, we deserve to suffer the consequences. Apparently Bush decided to take me up on that offer. Damnit! I'm sorry people, I was just being bitter and cynical, I never actually thought anyone would take it seriously!
- malex, on 11/04/2008, -2/+14You know what you can do?
Take the government's responsibility to safeguard the safety of our natural resources seriously.
Republicans won't do that. That's why we're choosing someone else this time. - inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+12Personally, I would argue that poverty itself drags the rest of us down. As a society, I think we need to address why poverty itself exists. Obviously, relative poverty is inevitable, but why are there people who work hard and yet cannot make ends meet? Why is their hard work not providing them with the basic necessities of life? Surely, in a nation of opportunities such as ours, this should not be possible.
- Ryanw430, on 11/04/2008, -3/+13If we had Nader in office two terms ago we would have never gone to Iraq among other things. He earned my vote twice and I'll give him a third. So what if he's never held a political office? That just means he's not corrupt!
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -2/+12Do you remember the signature Nixon wave just as he stepped into the helicopter and rode off into the sunset? I've always wondered what Bush would do just before he left office. What could he say at the very end to top the whole affair off. Apparently as a big ***** you to America he's going to poison (read slowly kill) women, children and men instead of just giving a thumbs up and riding off into the sunset. But did you expect anything else?
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -5/+15Yes, let's trust the GOVERNMENT to prevent pollution. After all, they ONLY cause more pollution than the four biggest corporate polluters COMBINED (in the USA)!
And this is not a defense of pollution, it's a reality check. Regulate the government, they are the leading cause of problems in the country.
Iraq war: government
War on drugs: government
Gay marriage not being legal: government
Hell, nearly every civil rights movement was a movement to be LEGAL or NOT OUTLAWED. It's always been a fight against the government. Ironically though, people keep looking TO the government to fix these issues, over and over. - washingtonson, on 11/04/2008, -2/+11Heard today that Bush is lifting controls on pollution AND commercial fishing-depressing...
- theskillwithin, on 11/04/2008, -1/+9congress is responsible for the laws, not the executive.
- lazyslacker, on 11/04/2008, -0/+8Wow, sounds like you're either drunk or a complete idiot. Maybe you need to step back and asses this situation. Instead of making a valid criticism of America, which could easily be done, you resort to gross generalizations, intolerant slurs and death threats. Do you really think that is a good way to convince people of anything? No, I'm sure you're right. As a ***** and a regular gay folk, what choice do I have?
- FasterGun, on 11/04/2008, -0/+8Holy *****, I think we've found our problem.
I never thought it was possible, but here we are.
This man has never been outside. - duggdowncatisad, on 11/04/2008, -2/+10This sounds like a good thing for someone to fix next year during their first 100 days in office.
- Batfishy, on 11/04/2008, -0/+7Agreed. I mean we have to stay on top of everything. We need to know what congress is doing and watch out for our best interests. We need lobbying to be televised on CSPAN.
With Bush, sometimes I don't think he even knows what the words environment, pollution, or carcinoma really mean. It's like he pro-disastrous, as in war or deregulation. It's nuts!
If Obama is who he seems to be (he is), I think he knows that a lot of people worked really hard for him and he will not want to let all those people down. I wouldn't want to and I'm just me. - krispykreams, on 11/04/2008, -1/+8It's little things like this that piss me off, because they aren't important enough to make anyone protest but they are still bad for everybody.
- jessehadden, on 11/04/2008, -0/+7And that is a bad thing, in a corrupt government such as ours?
Not being a "career politician" is a good thing. We need to destroy this crazy notion that "career politicians" have special qualifications to understand life. - Snaffler, on 11/04/2008, -2/+9This isn't as dire as it sounds. As an example, hog lots don't have to get an NDPES permit because they don't discharge manure from the facility into surface water. The courts have already ruled that EPA can't force companies to get an NPDES permit if they don't discharge. 95% of the people reading these comments probably think that there is a pipe from the hog facility going straight into the stream. Not so. the manure is sucked up out of lagoons or concrete pits and sprayed or injected into farm fields. This saves the farmer from using ammonia (which is derived from natural gas) on those same fields. Farmers don't have to get an NPDES permit to spay ammonia either. Either way, the fields are going to get fertilized and you are going to eat your soybeans, corn, or meat.
If the facility has a leak and discharges into a stream, it has to get an NPDES permit and the regulation does not apply. - jackspade, on 11/04/2008, -0/+7You know what's really gonna be a kick in the balls, the time between Obama being elected president tomorrow and the inauguration in Jan; having to go back to Bush and watch him piss in our faces with his sleezy executive orders.
- Techx4, on 11/04/2008, -2/+9i agree, bush is a ***** *****
- tmonsta1, on 11/04/2008, -2/+8Hey TK you forgot this little gem
"You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money."
OH, you mean like the billions and billions we borrowed from China to finance a war fought in Iraq?
you truly are indicative of everything that is wrong with this country.
p.s.
pwned - danj484, on 11/04/2008, -0/+6Bottled fish too I guess, as well as bottled everything that uses water to live. Oh wait...
- Mardala, on 11/04/2008, -2/+8http://www.umwa.org/index.php?q=compac/mccain-ads- ...
FactCheck.org debunked McCain's claims of what Obama's stance is.
The article you posted is in reference to Obama's stance, which was taken out of context by McCain's people and which has been debunked. - fedja, on 11/04/2008, -0/+6"I stand fully behind my vote for Bush"
If you want to appear relevant, at least write that at the end of your post so we give it the benefit of the doubt before labeling you a drooler. - theskillwithin, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5congress is responsible for law making, not bush.
- schmitey, on 11/04/2008, -1/+7This'll piss off my limnology (freshwater ecology) professor!!! He doesn't have one good thing to say about Bush and Company...
- pentakle, on 11/04/2008, -2/+8As if you needed another excuse to vote Obama tomorrow!
- scoottie, on 11/04/2008, -1/+7thats why i got a brita filter ..... lol
