- jflowers45, on 05/13/2008, -8/+27Bush = nonstop entertainment on the internets!
- j1ggy, on 05/13/2008, -5/+23Too bad the pesticides don't work on the Bush Administration.
- lucidguru, on 05/13/2008, -5/+24Keep piling on the lawsuits Americans... One of them is going to eventually stick...
- cheezintern, on 05/13/2008, -2/+17Yea this chemical is super duper toxic and will dissolve and turn into goop an insect's central nervous system, but I'm sure it's safe to humans, what can possibly go wrong?
- Rikkochet, on 05/13/2008, -3/+16You could also smoke like a chimney for 9 years and show no ill effects (other than smelling like crap) - but you know what is likely to happen down the road... Not suggesting we're all going to die, but I wouldn't trust in "I ain't dead yet" science as much as controlled, peer-reviewed experimentation.
- bincoder, on 05/13/2008, -1/+14I miss chlordane. One application, no bugs of any sort for years. :(
- cheezintern, on 05/13/2008, -1/+11lawsuits are the only way to get the Bush admin to pay attention to something that their benefactors in industry would rather keep quiet. Especially since the EPA is headed by a bush appointee.
- Hangly, on 05/13/2008, -2/+11You can sue the reigning fuhrer of the United States? I thought they were immune or something.
I can think of about a gazillion civil suits we could hit him with. Reckless endangerment perhaps? - inactive, on 05/13/2008, -7/+17Why does he hate America?
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -9/+19Ah Mr. Bush... why do you hate yourself so?
- bincoder, on 05/13/2008, -2/+8Sorry if this doesn't agree with modern 'science'. I had roaches and black widow spiders when I moved into a house back in the 80s. For 75 dollars (ugh) I got 1 pint of it. Sprayed the outside around the foundation, then the inside at the floor to wall areas. Then lived there for nine years. I had none of those symptoms, and my little dog did just fine as well. If that does not match with 'science', I don't care. I know what I did and I know what happened when I did it. Not saying it should be legal again... but I still miss it anyway.
- sustainablogger, on 05/13/2008, -6/+11We don't need no workers, children and animals, dammit!
- williamharper, on 05/13/2008, -7/+15I can appreciate the fact that some people truly believe that Bush makes these decisions. Do you really think someone came and asked him whether or not they should continue using these pesticides? Of course not. But yes, Bush caused Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, the sri lanka tsunami of 2005, and any other natural disaster or act of terrorism occuring while he's been in office.
As absurd as each of those sound, I've heard people make each of those arguments with a straight face. I don't like him any more than the next guy, but he's not as powerful as some people may think. - valkyries, on 05/13/2008, -1/+7wait a second, isn't it up to the "Environmental & Farm Worker groups" to deciede what pesticide they use on their own farms?
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -0/+4Whatever. Probably the same environmental whack tards who forbade Africa from using DDT which in turn caused malaria cases to skyrocket which resulted in the needless deaths of millions of people, and still does to this day. And lets not forget what fiasco biofuels have become. Nope, buried as yet another Digg borne anti Bush hit piece.
- paulb0t, on 05/13/2008, -2/+7They're not suing for money, they're suing to have the pesticides pulled from the market.
- xptweakerntn, on 05/13/2008, -2/+6WHY?
Oh, right. Of course! It's because Fluoride is poisonous, right?
What about Chlorine? You know, that stuff you put in pools to kill the bad guys?
It's poisonous as well, isn't it?
However, without it, how would we get clean water to the 300 million people in the U.S.?
Isn't that what makes out country separate from the 3rd world countries drinking water from their sewage?
While you and I are at it, we should probably ban table salt. Because not only does it include the ever-so-dangerous Chlorine, but also Sodium.
Here is a video of what Sodium can do:

Yes, it looks very well that LIVING will eventually KILL you. So why worry about it? - Bukowsky, on 05/13/2008, -4/+9Yea, me too... cuz headaches, irritability, confusion, weakness, vision problems, vomiting, stomach cramps, diarrhea, jaundice, birth defects, convulsions & death are FUN!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlordane - PacketScan, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3The government works for whom will give them the most money. It's said that lobby's spent over 2.8 billion pushing their agenda just last year (2007) . So yes you can buy what you want in government.
http://www.opensecrets.org/lobbyists/index.php - JohnnyKdiggs, on 05/13/2008, -5/+8...but hey, start a war with the world. That's fine.
- rand0mm0nkey, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2So, um, I'm gonna go out on a limb here.... are you angry about something? Is prepared always capitalized? I'm so confused.
- linuxN8, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3"EPA spokesman Tim Lyons stated that the agency would review the lawsuit and respond in court."
EPA ≠ Bush
tardbags. - LenBaird, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I AM ABOVE THE LAW!! /pushes hair over bald top of head (South Park reference sorry :P )
- Soave, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2Yes but they have to have someone else to blame, duh.
- paulb0t, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3It would, if they were farmer owned. Most farms in the US are owned by large agricultural companies, many of which are in bed with pesticide manufacturers. Organizations such as the UFW have very little power as to what's applied to the crops -- they usually fight for farmworker protection.
- hawk0168, on 05/13/2008, -1/+4Clearly you're one of Digg's rational users. Only a person with a sound state of mind could form sentences like that.
- Ellipsys, on 05/13/2008, -0/+3Third option - give some of those corn lobby subsidies to pay farmers NOT to grow corn, and give them to all farmers to invest in USDA Organic farming practices, not trying to cram HFCS and corn products into everything people eat.
- spyd3rweb, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2I don't know about you, but a few hundred people are definitely worth more than any amount of bushels of vegetables, and also humans have survived for thousands of years without pesticides.
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -0/+2Actually, blame the Democrats for:
1. Listening to environmentalists and not letting us drill ANYWHERE.
2. Listening to environmentalists and not letting us build new refineries ANYWHERE.
3. Listening to environmentalists and not letting us build any more nuclear plants ANYWHERE.
4. For being Democrats.
Pull your head out of your ass and try coming up with something original. Instead of just blaming "Republicans" for it, why don't you do a little more research and look around. You f-tardic moron. - Smaugrens, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1@ Tweaker:
I don't know why you brought up chlorine but if you do some research you will find that large amounts of fluoride causes fluorosis of the bones. The amount they put in our water is unnecessary for our health and should be greatly reduced.
Oh yeah and just LIVING is great isn't it? I'd like to keep my life as long as possible personally. - kernel16, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1"Another reason politicians aren't making hay of the plight of males is that they are well aware that women are in no mood for it."
I love it! - tunapez, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Hey, at least the US Government isn't showering us all in Round-Up!
Just the Colombians and Afghanis. - jaymzdean, on 05/13/2008, -3/+4"We'll make 'em sick, see? And we'll make a lot of money in the process. Plus, they'll be easier to control, heh."
- hawk0168, on 05/13/2008, -2/+5All of these chemicals are used on vegetables - crops that usually have very large problems with pests. It's an economic decision. The benefits outweigh the risks. If a few hundred farm workers have elevated risks of cancer compared to thousands of bushels lost to pests, then the EPA and USDA are going to allow it. If you want Americans to have better health and less obesity you promote a diet high in vegetables. You can't do that AND ban pesticides.
- kernel16, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Unless you're from Canada!
- hairydotus, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1i agree lawsuits get people nowhere. There are so many lawsuits these days that it has become a useless means of punishment. I wish I could offer an alternate solution to solving problems but it's tough.
- hairydotus, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1He doesn't hate America he just doesn't care about anyone but himself. He makes too much money doing the things he is doing to care about the rest of the world.
- normalkid0615, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1BUCH FUSH classic 1990
- vault, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2You need it for the preservative or something. I vaguely remember the controversy.
- minoss, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1battling subsidies with more subsidies doesn't work
- kemp34, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2So you don't believe people should be held accountable? You seem to be brainwashed to believe that the legal process doesn't exist to protect people, within the confines of the law, from being unjustly abused. Not all lawsuits are bad, especially ones involving chemicals and people's health. Bashing "trial lawyers" seems like neo con style propaganda.
- hairydotus, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1This isn't an issue of democrats vs. republicans this is an issue of money. We could research alterantive fuels that would be cheaper and cleaner than oil and gas but that wouldn't be cost effective for the bush administration, he makes too much money from opec nations such as Saudi Arabia. And the answer is not to drill in more places like Alaska, the answer is reducing our dependency on oil. Oil is our problem we are addicted to it, it is what opium was to the Chinese. We are being force fed oil by OPEC nations the way the Chinese were force fed Opium so now they have us addicted to something that they control and can manipulate us any way they want
- pault107, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Troll. Blocked, reported. He makes the same comment over and over again:
http://zuubu.runhost.net/?username=onetiemer&selec ... - rand0mm0nkey, on 05/13/2008, -2/+3Yeah, it kills stuff, but there's no way it could possibly harm us. Go with that.
- inactive, on 05/13/2008, -1/+3Buck Fush!!
- Tuck23, on 05/13/2008, -0/+1Am I crazy or is this article supporting one person's opinion of McCain policy and stating it as acronism? Its good political practice to keep yourself and your message out of the media out of the dust of the media until after the primary is over (especially with the cataclysmic dust that has been stirred up on the democratic side). Save your judgement for the elections, not some congressman's opinion.
- normalkid0615, on 05/13/2008, -1/+2is it me or has our overall quality of life went DOWN in the past 8 years? I am only 21, but I feel like old as *****! Gas prices went from $1 when I started driving to $4 in JERSEY!!! Jersey has one of the lowest gas prices in my area. AND F U REPUBLICANS!!! ITS UR FAULT!!!
