- MacEnvy, on 04/26/2008, -0/+4Because it's actually 47% that goes directly to heating (including water heating). 53% goes to electric (including electric A/C).

Probably still be here by then too. I would like to afford just current modern items now.
- dddavid, on 04/26/2008, -1/+4Ummmm..... Why not use one of the 1930's homes already there?
- MacEnvy, on 04/26/2008, -1/+2You're counting A/C as both "heating" and "electric". The solar panels take care of th A/C, so it really shouldn't against the pic of the solar panels, should it?
- digghasnoethics, on 04/26/2008, -3/+280% of energy usage in the home is to do with heat.
Go why the illustration with solar PV panels ? - yixiazi, on 04/26/2008, -1/+0What exactly about this resembles a 1930's house? It looks like the same type of flat sided uninteresting modern construction we see all the time.
- digghasnoethics, on 04/26/2008, -3/+1Err, even from your figures 66% is to do with heat. I'll bet that something of that remaining segment also has a heating component. Throw in some CF to replace old fashioned lightbulbs as a no brainer and the 80% I quoted isn't unrealistic (they are UK DTI figures).

- inactive, on 04/26/2008, -6/+3Great depression era houses. How fun.
Of course we are on the verge of another great depression, so this might be smart! - northernmonkee, on 04/26/2008, -13/+12 comments, front page 63 diggs; how?
