- johnnick, on 11/07/2007, -0/+22Hmm...Your response looks like a clear case of not reading the article, since that is specifically addressed.
From the article, "Red Cross officials said while it's perfectly safe to store tap water in the preparedness kit, because of the drought they are recommending people purchase commercially packaged water to continue to help conserve what remains of the state's water supply."
While the article notes that some bottled water may have been bottled locally using GA water, that's already been done and it's in the stream of commerce already. The use of that GA water is essentially a sunk cost from the drought perspective. On the other hand, if people decided to INCREASE their consumption of GA water by creating their emergency supply from the already short supply, then that creates a bigger problem locally. - andrewcsayer, on 11/07/2007, -1/+22I mix my water with barley and hops

That persons' name makes this article very hard to read. I thought I had taken on a new job title here. - TravisG5, on 11/07/2007, -0/+11What inspired you to go from 3 to 2 million?
"Dude, I think my comment didn't get posted. Now it seems like that extra million just isn't worth it any more" - centran, on 11/07/2007, -0/+11Don't drink water.

- merreborn, on 11/07/2007, -0/+6Digg title says 10 per person. Linked article title says 5.
Inaccurate. - Gryffydd, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5And on top of that, I don't care that bottled water comes from municipal sources since they filter the crap out of it and it tastes 10x better.
- GinsuGuy585, on 11/07/2007, -0/+5The average 4 person household has an 80 gallon water heater. USE THE DRAIN TAP AND YOUR FAMILY (of 4) IS GOOD FOR 20 DAYS!!!
- inactive, on 11/07/2007, -0/+4actually that's a good idea sanitation-wise, but you forgot the critical 4th ingredient... yeast.
- davidcg, on 11/07/2007, -1/+5No worries, just get that water bottle that can filter water so good it can even remove virus's from the water. It was on digg, just can't remember what it's called.

- Typhoon2009, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3Drink water? It's not like it'll kill you. Get carbonated water and mix it with some Ocean Spray 100% Natural cranberry juice for a sort of cranberry soda.
- explnx, on 04/27/2009, -1/+4Yay! No flouride! My kids can get all the cavities they want!

- xobecide, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3Weird thing is that Fuji water tastes closest to the well water coming to my house. I'll charge you half the price Fuji costs!
- Calculon, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3Most of the water you need you get from the water in food. Soda, juice, ect are mostly water as well. Drinking 8 glasses a day is a myth.

Where it comes from doesn't ***** matter. What you taste is either crap in the water or your imagination. - vladimirlemon, on 11/07/2007, -0/+3That's not true - http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/petbottles.as ...
Though it is a good idea to wash them out every once in awhile, if you get into the habit of reusing. - Nick22, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2All I really care about is that bottled water + sun/heat = nasty ass tasting water, at least in those cheap flimsy bottles
- schnikies79, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Same here. We can what we grow in the garden and could last at least a couple months on that alone, if not more.
- urbanclock, on 12/08/2008, -1/+3But it's so hot
- spyd3rweb, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Aren't those the ones that are all just bottled tap water?
- sites, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2Miller Brewing Co provided bottled water to Elba, AL after the flood in 1990.
- schnikies79, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2I have a pond, two actually.
- inactive, on 11/07/2007, -2/+4That was so stupid.
- Chaoticfist, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2lmao me to, and not just that, we have tons of canned food in the basement, we only have it because its healthier, and tastes a lot better then the store crap, but if a disaster did hit, we would have enough food for a couple months.(its all home canned to)
- mclumber1, on 11/07/2007, -0/+2I'm in the Navy. On my ship we have 4 distilling units that can make a combined 400,000 gallons of water a day. Each person is allotted 35 gallons of water a day for showers, washing your hands, drinking, etc. (our toilets use seawater). 1 gallon of water a day would be hard to fathom.
- noahtron, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1there's nothing on there about HOW TO MAKE WATER DRINKABLE???
IDIOTS. - darundal, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Good.
- centran, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1please for the love of the planet blame school all you freak'n want.
sometimes I fear "Idiocracy" will actually be a movie based on a true story. - shadus, on 11/09/2007, -0/+1hehe, if it tastes that good lemme know where you live, I'll move :P Our water tastes like sulphur even with a softener and filter on it.
- Amazetbm, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1They should have slowed down the growth in this city.
- shadus, on 11/08/2007, -0/+1Just because you're unable to taste a difference in water doesn't mean everyone's taste buds are that dead.
In college when the bottled water thing was just getting started I said I liked a particular local brand and everyone said they thought it was just like the city water in taste, I said nah tastes completely different. Blindfolded I picked the bottled water 5/5 times. Even the smell was different (It was distilled (city water) and then had mineral additions to it.) The biggest problem I have with bottled water in general is that most of it tastes a lot like plastic.
There are massive differences in taste of bottled waters depending on the type of bottled water it is... mineral water tastes different than distilled and the distillation process used can affect taste in distilled waters even... put in packaging, additives, etc... and there is massive noticeable differences if you have a good sense of taste and smell.
Just because you can't tell... doesn't mean OTHER people can't tell. - Myonosken, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Filter the non-existent water?
- Jerim, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Coca Cola is in Georgia. Coca Cola makes bottled water. I wonder if they are continuing to bottle water during this drought. I can forsee a situation where Coca Cola is worsening the drought by bottling all the water and selling it back to the population. So in essence. Coca Cola is worsening the problem in order to make a buck.
- aduzik, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1I've done that before. It's tasty.
- aduzik, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1Fathom? Is that one of your crazy navy jokes? If so, LOL.
Seriously, most of that 35 gallons comes from your shower. I think when the water runs out that's the first thing to go. - SeethisPass, on 11/07/2007, -0/+1If you were to buy Crystal Springs, from a google ad-word, I might even make a buck. So far not a single bite though lots of clicks have cost me money.. $39 bucks a month gets this amount of water or more delivered to your home without you having to go anywhere or do much at all. Home delivery would be good , right? water is heavy. No link or search terms though
