"BMW Electric Bike Saves The Planet But Not People" Implying that it's VERY dangerous. Followed by "and just a little less death," implying that it's safer. Which one is it, Digg? - zuiquan, on 07/03/2009, -1/+18So this thing doesn't actually exist in any meaningful way and is merely some concept spam? That's what I get out of reading the blog post.
- TnTBass, on 07/03/2009, -1/+18Its dangerously safe.
- bigbangbuddha, on 07/04/2009, -0/+7open up your mouse
- martzmart, on 07/03/2009, -1/+8I don't think Ants are too worried about this thing
- Xaevier, on 07/03/2009, -2/+9"Hey guys I have a genius idea!"
"Yeah?"
"You know how insanely hard it is to see motorcycles while on the road and how thousands of people get in accidents every year because of this?"
"Yeah I guess"
"Well I found a way to make a motorcycle smaller shorter and 10x harder to see!"
"GENIUS WE WILL MAKE BILLIONS!!!" - KiraDnote, on 07/03/2009, -2/+7It must not be real, because it's not on youtube.
- InfiniteNothing, on 07/04/2009, -1/+5But some are solar powered. In any case, power plants are point sources which are easier to clean up after (scrubbers) and more efficient and producing energy even if you include transmission losses, battery losses, and electric engine losses.
- Marrach, on 07/03/2009, -1/+5 That design just screams "RIDE ME!" to Young Guys.
It screams "YOU'RE OLD!" to us Older guys who are now too sensibly afraid of it.
It screams "HE'LL KILL HIMSELF" to Mothers, Ants and Grandmas of every age.
But the lack of a "Booty Seat" for the Girlfriend remains a serious Problem. - tsmallm, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3I like that it's electric, but why does it have to look retarded?
- mikebritton, on 07/03/2009, -1/+4Call it the Darwin.
- burntcookie90, on 07/03/2009, -3/+6dugg for faceless boobs.
- elchispito, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3Looks to me like you're in for a flip over the handlebars after encountering the smallest pebble.
The CG of that thing looks way out of wack. - oriondr, on 07/03/2009, -1/+4Does the robot chick come with it?
http://go635254.s3.amazonaws.com/gas2/files/2009/0 ... - kevlar21, on 07/03/2009, -1/+3So does it have enough torque on that front wheel to flip the rider over and into the pavement in front of the bike? 'cause electric motors can be pretty torquey, and that torque comes instantly…
- InfiniteNothing, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2TTIUWOV
- DinosaurDerek, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2running over their ant hills!
hell yeah they are afraid. - hazyeight, on 07/04/2009, -2/+4In my area all the power comes from hydro-electric. Don't act like you know everything and don't call people idiots just because they don't agree with you. If you have to resort to that your probably wrong.
- Lederhosed, on 07/03/2009, -1/+3Uh, it's pretty rad, but I'm totally confused about how you actually ride this.
- pygmy, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Flying cars coming soon!
Invisibility Cloak available in 2 years!
let us know when you can buy them. - PiratesNStuff, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2According to the pictures, you have to ride it like some sort of ninja-scooter.
- karebu, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2the designer probably doesn't ride bikes. who the hell rides who legs wide opened?
- FattyCorpuscle, on 07/03/2009, -1/+3Dugg for the Stig's female cousin working as a BMW test rider.
Some say her left breast can summon wild animals from 200 miles away. - inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2Especially the part where it saves the planet.
- prisoner24601, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Um, guys...
The first part of the introduction is saying that the device as a whole is tremendously dangerous because of the obvious instability of the design.
The second part of the introduction is specifically describing the rear wheel, which is designed to counteract the overall instability and is stating that THE REAR WHEEL provides "balance... and just a little less death" than the design would have without a rear wheel. - haymarket, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1that would only happen if you were in reverse, or use the brakes at all! When you accelerate you are pushed backwards, so the rear wheel/ball thing would in theory prevent you from flipping backwards. kinda like a wheelie bar on a motorcycle or car.
- Impressa, on 07/03/2009, -2/+3Misleading title?
- Killbot2015, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1If it's got those stupid blinding BMW headlights you'll still see it coming from miles away. I hate those.
- haymarket, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1a socket joint, just like your shoulders.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -1/+2I've been pissin' blood ever since they released this hell-hated-death-token.
- jeffiek, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1female riders :)
- motters, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Assuming that this is a real product (it might not be) the market for something like this would be very small. If inventors are going to spend a lot of time and effort designing electric vehicles they should be focusing upon the sorts of vehicles which most people will actually want to buy and use. There have been too many pointless "concept" vehicles already.
- sheagunther42, on 07/03/2009, -4/+5I want one!
- icndvl, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1There is an eject button the driver is supposed to press in case of crash.
- keltin, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Uhh, you mean no contrasting spots?
- JanSimpson, on 07/03/2009, -2/+2Cool looking - but pictures and prototypes are great - real life brings the rough around the issues challenges
- vizerei, on 07/03/2009, -1/+1Your title is sensationalism but your description refutes it.
- painting, on 07/03/2009, -3/+3it is lost his ride?
- mmembrino, on 07/03/2009, -1/+1I may be missing the obvious, but could someone explain to me how you mount a spherical wheel onto anything? it can't have an axle can it? wouldn't that mean it can't rotate in all directions? or does the wheel itself not rotate and it's just spherical so the back can pivot without going on the edge of the tire?
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -2/+2Sacrifices must be made to save the planet.
- mikebritton, on 07/04/2009, -1/+1Yours is hydro-electric, others' may not be. You are wrong.
- sonofashoe, on 07/04/2009, -2/+1Ginger II
- Vodd9, on 07/04/2009, -2/+1Is this thing some kind of bad joke?
- CaptSnuffy, on 07/04/2009, -2/+1Every time I see one of these designer's concepts, part of my brain dies.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -2/+1Wow what a ***** articlee
- InfiniteNothing, on 07/04/2009, -2/+1I'm guessing it's so you can turn without leaning.
- Sideshowslob, on 07/03/2009, -4/+2And dangerously cheesy.
- martzmart, on 07/03/2009, -3/+1I want to see this thing try to cross the railroad tracks here in the US!
- junkmasterzero, on 07/03/2009, -4/+2It kinda reminds me of a Mouser.
