The Humans had won, but were few in number and with no possibility of surviving. So they introduced their DNA into the Earth ecosystem, hoping that one day Humans would evolve on Earth once again, free of the Ant-Kind and be able to live in peace. However, unbeknownst to them, the Ant-Kind also survived. They were however much smaller but survive they did. They contained a genetic memory, a desire to make them heat up the planet so that one day their ancestors would be free of their icy tomb in Antarctica. That day is almost upon us, and we will become slaves of the Ant-Kind.

They're small enough they're hard to sting, and while bees try to carry them away and drop them away from the hive, they come in such numbers they destroy entire colonies of bees rather quickly:
