- TridenTBoy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Diggs are called votes now?
- archistudent, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9"Costs have soared while the London Array project has been delayed 18 months because of local opposition to an electricity sub-station near Faversham."
F*cking nimbys! This plan could power 25% of the nation within four years and people seem to be content with fighting it because of the location of a substation? In my humble opinion, these people are retarded. The world needs plans like this. - NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Stupid woman screwed us all over...
- bbene, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Are people not allowed to digg a story and say nothing about it?
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Yes.
- tehseanzor, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9kinda wish there where pics
- OneLess, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I believe this is happening in New York as well (though obviously not with the world's largest wind farm). I overheard my boss's wife talking with one of her friends about filing papers to try and derail a proposed wind farm by using a loophole in some historical region law because the site is relatively close to the Erie Canal. They made it quite clear the the farm wasn't actually on any historical site, but they were just using the law to serve their own agenda.
These are, by the way, probably the same sort of people who wonder why their electric bills keep going up and support dirty oil politics. - fridx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It pisses me off when people object to wind farms, "oh noes, I will see windmills from my window" So ***** what? It means cheaper and greener electricity.
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I think these wind farms are wonderful and neat to look at... But it's sad that some people don't think that way... -_- or are acting illogical about birds getting hurt or something... XD
Or in some cases, the rich members of the town wont allow it... -_- jerks - GoingPostal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That blows!
- digghasnoethics, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Look to http://www.londonarray.com/about/offshore-componen ... for artist impressions and details.
- TenebrousX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3there are usually artist renderings of projects
- zeospike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3My sympathies lie with the poor surfers who are complaining that 300 odd wind farms in a 90 square mile area - which works out at about 4 per square mile - will cause a smaller swell in the English Channel. Surely that has to be an advantage, as it will give them more chance of seeing all the rusty Fry Bentos Pie tins, used condoms and turds that fill this beautiful stretch of water.
If this can provide 25% of London's power, which must account for more than it's fair share of the total consumption of the UK, then surely SURELY, this is a good thing, especially at £2bn. When you consider that the British government are going to waste nearly £10bn on bunch of people running around a track in 2012, this wind farm strikes me as excellent value, and money very well spent. - noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Where does it say a quarter of the Nation? It says a quarter of LONDON homes by 2010.
- Metalmoon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4you and those goddamn ascii faces, enough already!
- noahhoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Diminishing landscape? The entire area is field.

You know I don't like the idea of having to tear up new land, but I love the idea of being able to eliminate ugly gas and coal plants one day. - ckSubs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3How about instead we drop all this wind ***** and get back to building reactors...
- suxmonkey, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6People care about the environment, but I guess not enough to comment :/
- imitated, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ok let's build a substation in your back yard and see how you feel. Yes the wind farms are a good idea but being a resident of Kent, I understand the effect it has on our already diminishing landscape
- HappyScrappy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3If this project can really power 25% of the nation within four years, they're going to have to have a lot more substations and probably arguments about where to put them.
- spudnic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2No, votes are called diggs now
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No. I'll make that 8 diggs.
Don't be telling me what to digg down!
Hey, hey... Who's the woman? Huh? - sethosayher, on 10/10/2007, -0/+190 Square Miles? Holy Mother...
- scottknick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well, I say thank God Shell gets to keep it's grip on world energy supplies. It just goes go show -- just because we're running out of oil, it doesn't mean our energy resources can't still be owned by oil companies.
- fixedcoma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Have the people pay a lb. or ten lbs. from their taxes to help pay for it! I know i would if they asked me on my tax forms!
- OneLess, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The outrage is probably overridden by their outrage over housecats killing birds, since housecats are apparently more dangerous:
http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v447/n7141/fu ... - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Probably not cheaper for the first few years but a hell of a lot greener
- segovia101, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The world is facing a massive energy crisis in the next couple of hundred years (or before). World population is set to increase by 2.3 billion by 2050 (34% increase). In 2050 the diminishing landscape in Kent is going to be the least of our problems. Knowing the way these things are spun it's probably a quarter of the current London requirement by 2010. Still, to be applauded.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Where's the outrage at all the poor birds this wind "farm" is going to murder?
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2wtf, I didn't type that here... O_o Digg me down
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1I'm cool

What is Digg?
