- RoroCo, on 06/26/2009, -11/+100"Our laptops require the most green to buy" Would that work for them?
- Murrabbit, on 06/26/2009, -7/+61Hyped advertising from Apple? Say it ain't so!
- Jeepinator, on 06/26/2009, -2/+28They use the same hardware you dumb ass. The only difference nowadays is the OS, which doesn't age. Eventually you will learn to ignore what Apple tells you about its products. You will realize they might be just a little bit bias. <---understatement used for effect.
- jaxter2010, on 06/26/2009, -1/+23WARNING: Fanboyism may cause loss of sense of humor.
- yocouchdigga, on 06/26/2009, -3/+18even if they were the "greenest notebooks in the world", it'd take a hell of a lot more than that to get me to even consider purchasing one.
- Jeepinator, on 06/26/2009, -2/+14Yeah, but Apple has a history of doing it.
- Jeepinator, on 06/26/2009, -1/+12Name one other that gets caught as often as Apple for false advertising. Oh, you can't? Their entire Mac vs. PC campaign is a lie.
- Zomgondo, on 06/26/2009, -0/+10"I'm a PC, and today I'm dumping used motor oil on helpless seabirds!"
"I'm a Mac, and I'm recharging myself on greenhouse gasses and farting out pure oxygen." - RickGonja, on 06/26/2009, -1/+10I guess smug is nonpolluting?
- Nydendarin, on 06/26/2009, -13/+22A company over-stated the greatness of their product? That must be the first time that's happened in all of history, ever.
- FredFredrickson, on 06/26/2009, -0/+8Laughing man, a computer is a computer. if you treat it nice, it will last a long time. If you don't, it won't. It's got nothing to do with what logo is on the shell of the laptop case.
- LordSkywalker, on 06/26/2009, -7/+15Apple is a hype machine that pumps out crappy, expensive hardware. Based on that cycle, they're able to release "upgraded models" every few weeks.
- bdbr, on 06/26/2009, -0/+8You're allowed to say ***** here. Don't be scared.
- alais, on 06/26/2009, -3/+11Simply not possible, Apple is beyond reproach.
- Jeepinator, on 06/26/2009, -2/+10Oh yeah, and they don't "last longer". You just tell yourself that so you won't feel like you have a ***** computer because you can't afford to upgrade to a newer Apple. PCs are made and sold cheaply, so people can afford to go through those faster. It is not that they break down, but that they become obsolete, and the user feels like they should upgrade. You can buy a couple slightly slower PCs for the cost of an Apple. Or you can buy one and save the extra for an upgrade later.
- dogstylee, on 06/26/2009, -0/+7How much of a self absorbed, smug prick do you need to be to buy a computer based on it's 'green credentianls'?
- TroyPDX, on 06/26/2009, -1/+8Is there some island or something I move to where I'll never have to hear about how green every damned thing is or carbon footprints or climate change? F*** it all, we're all doomed anyway.
Wow, I'm turning into a grouchy old man. - nubnub, on 06/27/2009, -0/+6What? Apple lying? Say it isn't so!
- Y0tsuya, on 06/26/2009, -4/+10They're not so green once covered in fanboy spooge.
- ThanatosST, on 06/26/2009, -5/+11Green notebooks? I was under the impression that macs only came in white or black.
- hbyrne, on 06/26/2009, -3/+8"One Of The World's Greenest Families Of Notebooks" just doesn't sound quite as compelling.
- ghatid, on 06/26/2009, -2/+7surprise surprise..
- NMRgentleman, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4It has certainly become the public religion, quite truly. Some will disagree, but to paraphrase Emerson, we all worship something. When you fight first and hardest for the green cause, when your most common waking concern is what effect your actions have on the planet, when you will stand on the street corner to raise awareness of your mission and proclaim your devotion, when you are intolerant of disagreement, it has become quite truly your religion. And that describes many people.
- piieerrrree, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4Money > Clean air
/s - inactive, on 06/27/2009, -0/+4They should first get rid of the the 800 dollar shiny case premium.
- inactive, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3What? You mean a marketing-driven company used a buzzword to over-hype its products? No!
- Jeepinator, on 06/26/2009, -1/+4Companies are required by law to represent their product with reasonable accuracy, otherwise it is considered a scam. That is illegal. Your point doesn't stand.
Name one that does. The battery life of a product is determined by using the lowest power settings. An iPod for example would have its brightness all the way down and be on a play list that lasts longer than the battery will. The volume is kept low and the stock small headphones are used. Under the same circumstances as the test you will get the same battery life.
Since you failed to name anybody else that blatantly lies about their products, I will have to assume that Apple is one of very few companies that does false advertise.
Also, learn the differences between their, there, and they're. It will help you in life. - collution, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3they does what?
- FredFredrickson, on 06/26/2009, -3/+6Is Toshiba's line of laptops has a higher rating, why would it matter what the rest of the company is like? The claim is about the line, not the company.
- BlackKnight6, on 06/27/2009, -1/+4Someone is a little biased. Laptops that are looked to for reliability and safety in said occupations don't look at wimpy Macs, not even consumer PCs.

Companies like this sell the kind of computers those professionals are using in the field. - FredFredrickson, on 06/26/2009, -1/+4I turn green every time I think about how much money they cost. Wocka wocka wocka!
- dandandantheman, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3You're stupid.
- aznhomig, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3The Earth just stopped rotating.

How about a nice game of chess? - AdmiralAcbar, on 06/26/2009, -3/+5I didn't see that coming...
- Thorpe, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2You don't need to censor bypass here. It's Digg.
- treas, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2seals are totally overpopulated anyway
- masterkenobi, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2singer Seal unavailable for comment.
- b0bbyw1se, on 06/26/2009, -1/+3That comment would have been more intelligent if it was left unsaid.
- t0ny, on 06/27/2009, -1/+2I don't know about the newer MacBook Pros but my 2007 MBP is silver not green. :/ I think a green MBP would be ugly anyways.
- r00fus, on 06/27/2009, -0/+1A hell of a lot better than other "religions"... ones that demand you worship no other god, or claim that you will be rewarded for martyrdom, or inciting crusades...
Yeah, as far as a religion goes, environmentalism is pretty tame (for now). - kinseyincanada, on 06/27/2009, -2/+3whats with all the apple hate today? who gives a *****, buy what you like and shut up about it.
- unionaire, on 06/27/2009, -0/+1I see what you did there.
- hellbent6, on 06/27/2009, -0/+1he wasn't talking about software, he said > hardware <.
- datdamonfoo, on 06/27/2009, -0/+1Apple makes all its money by lying.
- milkmage, on 06/27/2009, -3/+4all because the dumbass people at NAD don't understand the difference between brand and family.
FTA
the Portege family from Toshiba, have higher EPEAT ratings than MacBooks. EPEAT is the most commonly used standard for green PCs. There's confusion because of the difference between a brand and a family. So, for example, all MacBooks are greener than all Toshiba notebooks, but one line in the Toshiba brand is greener than MacBooks.
Because of that confusion, the NAD found that the tagline that Apple uses -- "The New MacBooks. The world's greenest family of notebooks" -- is too broad a statement. According to the New York Times:
The NAD therefore recommended that Apple modify its "world’s greenest family of notebooks" claim, "to make clearer that the basis of comparison is between all MacBooks to all notebooks made by a given competitor." It also suggested that Apple "avoid the reference to 'world's greenest' — given the potential for overstatement." - 7aji, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1-Hello, I'm a Mac.
-And I'm a "tree".
(the Mac guy humps the tree with music in the background) - 7aji, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1whooooosh....
- 7aji, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1I wants to knew what does they did do.
- kinseyincanada, on 06/27/2009, -0/+1every single god damn ad is an overstatement, that burger sure doest look that good i the ad McDonalds, every single company does this from Apple to McDonalds.
