- phreak79, on 07/07/2008, -0/+8It may start off as a small event but if this captures the publics imagination it could become huge.
- bringmeupmusic, on 07/07/2008, -0/+8As minute as this might be, I still applaud all efforts to take a stand and make a difference.
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7Got to give it to them. This was there land before we screwed it all up.
I applaud this sort of grassroots effort. Here's to being heard! - lucy22, on 07/07/2008, -0/+6I am very impressed by this dedication to the environment. Good for them, I applaud their efforts too.
- araza13, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3It really pisses me off that people on the whole want to save the environment.....as long as the can still use their cars and fuel is still cheap.
Its like "i'll save the environment.....as long as it doesnt cost me anything"
Some people (politicians in particular) need to Wake up and smell the pollution.......
I have so much RESPECT for these guys, earth based religions are the only ones doing any good.
Whether you are an Atheist Xtian ect ect the world IS our provider and home. - jdh358, on 07/07/2008, -2/+4You're talking about THIS Earth, right? Not the one inside your PSP or some other imaginary Earth? So how, in your obvious wisdom, being native american and all, did you come to the conclusion that "it seems to be doing just fine"? Is it against your religion to read a paper or watch the news?
- imsoclever, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Except they used the term "American-Indian", which is a perfectly valid identifier. There's never been a consensus for what the correct term is (maybe because they are not a homogeneous group?). Without the "American," you might have a point.
- Stevanoski, on 07/08/2008, -1/+2Grew up part of my life on a res., if you want to see how socialism screws up a society, go to a res. Was fostered out at an early age and may well have saved me from following the same paths of many of my kin.
- Conwaysb0718, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1sorry kelmaster, but you arent allowed to say negative things around here about certain minorities or you will get dugg down into the abyss, regardless of its accuracy.
- inactive, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1"To walk the Red Road
is to know you stand on equal ground
with all living things. It is to know that
because you were born human,
it gives you superiority over nothing.".....http://eveningrain.com/RedRoad.html - araza13, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1There may however be something wrong with the wit of some Americans.
- theone156, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Wait American Indian means Native American? Or someone who is of Indian (Southeast Asian) decent? I honestly thought it was latter.
- Hetman, on 07/07/2008, -2/+3Nope I just believe the earth has gone through worst problems than humans. I am all for taking care of the enviroment because like I mentioned above it is an inconvienince to me if garbage is everywhere. Do I care about extinct animals no not really. Animals go extinct everyday. Almost all animals that ever existed are extinct now. And guess what humans had nothing to do with it. It is called the circle of life. Some things die, and somethings live. It is not a big deal either way. And guess what eventually everything on earth will die. People are so obsessed with life and death. They are the same thing. Stop projecting your fears on me. And to be honest all religons are just fairy talespeople tell themselfs so they are able to sleep at night.
- jumbalia, on 07/08/2008, -1/+1I think someone needs to tell MSNBC that an Indian is someone from the country of India
- Hetman, on 07/07/2008, -6/+3I am native american. And one of our handed down stories tells us to treat the earth with respect. I feel that this is complete *****. All I care about is that the beach close to my house remains clean. It has nothing to do with protecting the enviroment. It only has to do with not stepping on glass when I want to go for a swim. The earth has delt with far more horrible disasters than man could ever dream of doing. And guess what it seems to be doing just fine.
- kelmaster1, on 07/07/2008, -5/+2Obviously most people don't live around a reservation, many natives abuse the land more than white people do. high up members in a "tribal" business council only care about money. Logging, mining as well as other bad stuff for the environment happens regularly on a reservation. Few natives are left that are true to their heritage. The rest get drunk, don't work, live in subsidized housing that they trashed, and drunk drive in their government bought Ford Taurus. Paramedics know when the "indians" get their checks from the government because they all go out and get ***** drunk, drive and kill themselves. The Res is by far the ugliest area around here as it is for many areas.
