great pics... I was at the falls in 2006 in February and they weren't froze over. However there was so much moisture in the air it would freeze to your coat within minutes. My girlfriend and I had a 1-2cm thick coat of ice covering our whole bodies (minus our faces) within 20 minutes of walking around near the falls. It was interesting to see peopling chipping away at there clothes as they would come in off the viewing walking way and into the building to warm up and grab some food. Here's a pic.... you can see that under her arm is dry, but everywhere else is covered in (what looks like just water, but is) ice. http://lobrien006.googlepages.com/home
Although my Great Grandmother who passed in the 70's would tell my father of how as a child in the late 1800's she would visit the falls. At that time there was no fence around it and anyone was free to wander throughout the entire area... If you have been to the falls in the last 10 years you should know just how much that has changed.
Petition text:
We, the undersigned, call on the Governments of the world to use some common sense when distributing Energy subsidies.
Why must the taxpayer subsidise the largest cause of man-made Global Warming(Fossil Fuel electricity generation) whilst alternative energy solutions such as Solar Thermal are forced to struggle?
Why must the consumer be asked to pay extra for "Green" Energy when his/her taxes are subsidising the very antithesis?
We, the undersigned, are not impressed with such hypocrisy.
