- Cyrus042, on 01/24/2008, -0/+6It's really refreshing to see architecture applied in an environmentalist way, it's quite an art form. It's a shame that we don't see more beautiful buildings, especially buildings that are applied to solving social and environmental problems. I think people would really be surprised to how influential architecture can be (especially if you look at urban design).
We've gone through thousands of years of building design, and it's shameful that as a society were inundated with ugly, junky, and poorly designed buildings. Ugly buildings are bad for the soul :( - inactive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5you have to fade the ball on every hole! must be a nicklaus course...
- MutatedNantuko, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4Looks like an amazing mini-golf course.
- nreynolds, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3I really doubt this could prevent flat roofs from leaking. it's solution seems to be "not having a flat roof."
- Crath, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2It's really awesome, but it needs water features... and some animals.
- jcsw, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2Wow, I live in singapore and I've never seen that.
I need to get out more. - Tomboys, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2I just saw something about this on CNN. It's such a smart idea. It can prevent flat roofs from leaking and provides insulation. I want one! :)
- ucbmckee, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2Wow, that's pretty. Imagine how awesome a 100ft slip and slide would be on it!
- Viend, on 01/24/2008, -1/+3Nah they're Singaporeans. They'll still have money. What you don't know is that they probably get the money by manipulating the surrounding nations.
- woonie, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Too bad it doesn't snow in singapore... :(

- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1There is a water feature in the middle and at the ends of the slopes... and it is at a university.
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1"If art school was in our future"
If it WERE in your future, you could potentially get by without knowing grammar. But as it stands, you might want to look into it... - sowerp, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1It would be more interesting if they could incorporate native plant species on the roof rather than having a homogeneous boring lawn. But i guess for some, this might compromise the aesthetics of the architecture. I for one would rather see some native Malay vegetation since it would probably provide more ecological functions too.
- agbullet, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1I'm from NTU. I remember when they were building that thing, and there was no grass on it yet, people I know were going wtf at the shape of the building... Then they put grass on the roof, and the wtfs became WTFs.
But now looking at those pics I gotta admit - it doesn't look that bad after all. - TruthforAll, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1You're right.. even though the roof collects rainwater, that much sod would take an enormous amount of water to irrigate.
- salmatime, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1That is very cool, i would love to see it live.
- inactive, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1If you WERE still a kid...
- boo19, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1"Manipulating surrounding nations"? Are you aware that the entire land area of the island of Singapore is significantly smaller than New York City? Do you have any inkling of the boundless ignorance your statement reveals? Singapore's tiny little successes give it the authority to manipulate just about nothing. Also, I hate you.

- Onimal, on 01/24/2008, -2/+1It's cool, but I bet all they have in the actual building is a couple pencils and some cartridge paper since the Uni spent all the budget on the cool green roof thing.
