- FulcrumVitesse, on 10/17/2007, -1/+9That's a good-looking wall. I wonder if it's practical for private residences, though. The maintenance may be to demanding.
- Rikushix, on 10/21/2007, -0/+7I go to Queen's: this is the new Engineering building, the ILC (Integrated Learning Center). It's built so that parts of its structure are actually avaliable for observation and study for engineering students; i.e. sections of pillars have exposed steel rebar and concrete and insulation and whatnot, in terms of civil engineering, and I've been up to the maitaince floor where there is a complete firmware system set up for the building's air conditioning system so that electrical and computer engineers (like me) can use them as reference for projects.
The Biowall is pretty cool...it's right in the front doors as you walk in and extends two storeys. - sleeknerve, on 10/17/2007, -2/+5anyone have a mirror?
- forth, on 10/17/2007, -0/+3I just walked by the wall 45 minutes ago. It's gorgeous at night.

- Rikushix, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2I replied to another comment with my reply instead, and I didn't want that one here. But it didn't delete it. I think I'd get dugg down on both if multiple similar comments were there.
- dan00b, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2…aaaaaand…Queen's ITS comes through again. What a great service they provide for us students.
Meh…at least they let me torrent with a full 10mbit up/down static IP all ports open line last year in rez. - Rikushix, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2Do you go to queens? or are you just a kingston resident?
- Goobernutz, on 10/17/2007, -0/+2Meh. This dude covered an entire building. http://www.inhabitat.com/2007/01/15/vertical-garde ...

- skyspirit, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1It's an interesting concept, and I like it.
The Robertson Building in Toronto has something similar installed: http://www.robertsonbuilding.com/biowall
And some people have been coming up with ideas for indoor meshes to produce "free standing" biowalls: http://www.loop.ph/bin/view/Loop/BioWall - jsg7, on 10/17/2007, -3/+4But can we build one long enough to run the ENTIRE border???
- Zelixy, on 10/18/2007, -0/+1THAT'S AWESOME!!! Gonna Make My Own....

http://www.robertsonbuilding.com/biowall - thesonofdarwin, on 10/17/2007, -0/+11 inch = 2.54cm, 3 cm = 1.18 inches. Say what?
- smartalecks, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Currently on-going on the mall in Washington, D.C., is the Solar Decathlon. I went to go see it and they tons of these sorts of walls, not really with the same plants- they were using more vines and drapery sort of plants but they pretty much covered alot of the houses.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_Decathlon - Salzar, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Uses 2 1000W grow lights, wonder how much pollution running those will produce versus amount that can be cleaned.
- dasdef, on 10/17/2007, -0/+1Doh-ith! I clicked a bunch of links that were in the comments and got mixed up, not to mention that the site is down. but I was referring to this: http://www.robertsonbuilding.com/biowall
- EmperorAwesome, on 10/17/2007, -1/+1Here here. *****' Canucks.

- Hologram0110, on 10/17/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I go there too...
You can actually monitor the building live stuff like power drain (and production) the side of the building is mounted with a few sets of solar panels.
Its a really nice entrance way you can actually hear the water tickling down so it sounds like a stream. Its right next to Eng Soc lounge and the tearoom (a sustainable/fair trade coffee house owned and operated by the Queen's engineering society). - Godlike, on 10/17/2007, -2/+2That link went down faster than Bush's approval rating...
- Rikushix, on 10/17/2007, -1/+13 storeys*....I don't even know my own school.
