- feignNU, on 10/27/2008, -0/+4Yeah, they are pretty cool. Anyone interested should check out the book "Emergence: The Connected Lives of Ants, Brains, Cities, and Software" (http://www.amazon.com/Emergence-Connected-Brains-C ...
The crazy thing about them is, those organisms you just looked at pictures of are in fact "meta-organisms". Each of them is a collection of single-celled organisms working together to bring about the higher-order structure you see. The interesting thing is that they do this without a "commander" of any kind. The book is about how this kind of high-level behavior can "emerge" from complex systems even though there's no one calling the shots. Quite interesting. - PataGoRica, on 10/27/2008, -3/+7gross...but I can't look away.
- MrsRodted, on 10/27/2008, -0/+4Time to see a doctor dude
