news.cornell.edu — Now anyone can explore the archive's holdings on his or her own. For the first time, more than 65,000 sound clips and some 18,000 video clips of birds and other animals are accessible for no charge.

    Real player ***** sucks.

    You'd think they'd give you an option, QuickTime, or Windows Media Player.. ffs.. but Real Player?!

  • karkas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually, a giraffe makes a sound that is very similar to a door creaking on rusty hinges. Only it it very, very quiet. There was an old Sunday morning kids show in Chicago called "Milo and the Magic Movie Machine" and they once played a clip of a mother giraffe "talking" to her baby. Isn't it odd the things you remember from childhood?

    "Concerning our audio files, they are currently streaming RealAudio
    (.RAM). This is due to the legacy of our collection. We do plan to
    convert all our audio to MP4 (simple profile), which would allow any
    users to access them, and be player and platform independent."
