- Cree Indian Prophecy - manzplan, on 11/19/2008, -2/+9sadly the ones who care are the ones who read this stuff.. the other people turn a blind eye...
wonderful submission - kev0476, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5Despite years of government denials, it appears that about one in four veterans of the first Iraq war, Desert Storm, suffer from Gulf War Syndrome due to chemical exposure.
- LoBrau, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Yeah, beacause getting oil from stone is a much better idea than investing in alternative technologies and energy efficiency.
There are many ways of reducing dependence on foreign oil. Drilling and "tapping" the tar sands/shale deposits is by far one of the worst. - writer0213, on 11/18/2008, -3/+7ohhh. Those are depressing, but then again, what news these days aren't depressing.
- omegared, on 11/19/2008, -1/+4how is it propaganda. they report the facts.
- rustintable, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3It makes most sense to kill two birds with one stone.
Alternative energy can fix many problems at once.
And it can do more than that as well. The technology once developed can have unexpected uses in many other areas.
In the way we got Velcro from the space race we could get nano-technology for example from the alternative energy race. - Bub978, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2That was really depressing. I don't know what I expected. D:
- duggdowncatisad, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2What about the big news 2 weeks ago today?
- ninjaturtles1, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3The sad truth is most people don't care about the environment. We will destroy the Earth it's only a matter of time.
- korvan504521, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2That was still depressing for about 44% of the voting population though.
- XWingz87, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3...and to think we almost had a vice president who thought global warming is a myth
Let's hope the Obama administration could do better - RedHeadedFreak, on 11/19/2008, -2/+3It's not only a myth, but a religion. Repent ye sinners of industry!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml= ... - RedHeadedFreak, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1I wish rustintable. I'd "troll" 50 times harder if I were getting paid.
- Chjoma10, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Not front page articles? I saw that Gulf War Syndrome issue as the main headline/picture of CNN.com.....today.
- LoBrau, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1*Ridiculous - http://how-to-spell-ridiculous.com/
Did you read this? How is it fanatical?
No one is forcing you to do anything you know, so you can ignore these types of stories and continue on your way. You know what they say is bliss? - askantik, on 11/19/2008, -1/+2RTFA
- korvan504521, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1We need a way to pay for that alternative energy sources. They're more expensive than normal sources and we're kinda broke right now. Think of this as a nicotine patch to help us quit cigarettes.
- LoBrau, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Are we planting more trees though? Or are we still cutting them down at a phenomenal rate around the world?
Is it really that easy to simply hatch more fish and crowbar them back into the ecosystem (especially when other creatures such as jellyfish have moved in to take their place en masse, and the oceans have become to acidic for the fish to survive)?
Can we filter all the millions of litres of water that is contaminated by coal power plants, shale and tar sand operations, and other mining operations?
Look into each of these issues in depth and I guarantee you will be surprised that this enormours problem, created by technology, is not easily (or at all) solved by more technology. Especially in the near future. - Rusty747, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Most would rather look at a picture of a cat, with a stupid caption underneath
- rustintable, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Most people care. Many are just unable to cope with it and feel powerless so they react negatively.
And those who do care and don't feel powerless are doing a lot. - LoBrau, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1I agree that this is there is no simple answer, but for one part of it if governments stopped subsidising fossil fuels and instead ploughed that money into alernatives then they would not be more expensive.
Broke for a government is not like broke for you and me. If the governments of the wolrd can find trillions overnight to bail out private banks it is obvious that the only thing missing to solve the energy (and by extension environmental) crisis is political will. - rustintable, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1That is totally not true.
You get a loud small group that seem like they don't care who just don't know what they are doing.
And even a fairly small proportion of the population if properly mobilized could make all the difference. - rustintable, on 11/19/2008, -0/+0It ok man. Calm down these problems do have solutions.
- XWingz87, on 11/19/2008, -0/+0http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081118/ap_on_el_pr/ob ...
finally... better environment...? - rustintable, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1Don't feed the trolls.
They are paid for by the oil industry. - korvan504521, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1But, we can plant more trees though. And we can filter the water. And we can reseed fish populations from a hatchery.
All of which takes money. - LoBrau, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1It is more apt to call climate change denial a religion as it accepts its tenents on faith rather than evidence.
And please, that story from the times has already been shot down in flames.
http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2008 ... - happysmile, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1What does Gulf War Syndrome have to do with the environment?
- spider-man, on 11/19/2008, -1/+0He's getting kudos for using complete sentences so I see no reason that the world should not fall at his feet. Oh wait, that already happened, didn't it?
- kev0476, on 11/19/2008, -2/+1Woops... My bad.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -1/+0i lol'd, because of the 25 people on digg who still actually care about these rediculous fanatical stories, half of them would rather watch maury all day than actually do anything about it themselves, and the other half are getting so depressed that theyd probably slash their own wrists before climate change even has an effect. so listen up, enjoy your life, or end it. but stop ***** ruining it for everyone else.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -5/+4I'm sorry, but:
"4. Bush Opens Land to Oil Shale Development"
It's a good thing. Saving the environment should come second to succumbing to foreign interests (importing oil), at least right now. - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -1/+0hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
- Jakerzon, on 11/19/2008, -7/+3This is the final ***** straw. I'm deleting this retarded section out of my ***** Digg!! Environmental? More like left wing liberal propaganda *****.
- theskillwithin, on 11/19/2008, -5/+1To be fair, the media covers all the environmental stories it can.... a lot of them..
unless ur mr rightist fox. but the rest are left environmentalist thank god. - premiumtours, on 11/19/2008, -4/+0The end of the world is coming
