- 1021, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Suffices to say that National Geographic won't be able to stand up to the effect given that nasa couldn't make it yesterday. Thanks for the link.
- neoform, on 10/12/2007, -23/+2THEY STILL DIDN'T FIX THE THREADED COMMENTING SYSTEM!!@$#!@$@#$!!
- oakj423, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12or the thing to block the ALL CAPS
- shmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hm. I was expecting a little better from Nat Geo. What is this anyway? the wallpaper link to the big size is broken, no levels adjusted, overcompressed jpegs. they have better than this in their archives. wtf?
- rdivilbiss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1These are fair, but there are far too many places more beautiful or miraculous on earth, than these.
- das7282, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Cool :)
- Jonny5alive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Woo... low res wallpapers.....
- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, these look great centered in my screen with 8 inches of black border around them. 1024x768 is the new 640x480.
Don't even get me started on the beauty these images resonate when set to the desktop background in "stretch" mode. - Amusing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Not to mention grainy. Such a shame as those photos could have been much better.

- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4The 11th would be the sight of seeing thousands of Mac fanboys creaming their pants thinking they would be buying an "iPhone" today.
...Then de-creaming them.- mlp101316, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The eleventh wonder of the world...

did digg sell out?- devoinregress, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1to whom? The advertizing is about the same as it ever was and I don't think Digg was sold to anyone yet. The community has been going downhill as it has become more mainstream. I like the new features and layout a lot.
- 13thfloor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Advertising? Try Adblock, I don't see a thing.
- bmson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hmmzz...
Why is "Old Faithful" on there and not Geysir in Iceland. The geyser that every geyser in the world is named after.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Erupting_geysir.jpg
I would also have liked to see Jökulsárlón. That ice water have been used in hundreds of commercials around the world and allot of movies.
http://foto.snaefell.de/images/20060108174338_joekullsarlon.jpg- spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They picked Old Faithful because it's old Faithful. It may not be the most impressiv geyser to watch. But the fact that it erupts on schedule, that is something special.
- MavicA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Indeed, a bit too much America, a bit too little Iceland!
Strokkur, one of the geysirs in the Geysir field, does erupt on schedule, every 7 to 15 minutes. Geysir itself is quite silent indeed... - cuddinal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0a bit too much america.... a bit too little everywhere else
- DeusMachinae, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Is this Digg v4?
Why does it suck???- artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It is and it does not.
- hays, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Terrible photo processing. All of the pictures look overly saturated and sharpened. They don't look like real photos any more.
- Troopy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@Hays, dont know why ur being dugg down, I think your right....
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- devoinregress, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ansel Adams took much better photos. Some of these are ripoffs of his. It may just be that the compression is bad but the contrast and quality of these are not that impressive.
- vitriolage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's the first thing that came to mind when I saw the first image in the gallery, the picture was framed nearly identical to an Ansel Adams photograph, though it appears this was taken higher up on a hill (more trees and the mountains visible in the background). I wish I could remember the title, so I could bring up a comparison.
- elenadragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Many photos of Yosemite are taken at that spot. It is along one of the roads that enters the valley and is very picturesque. The spot is great for photos... everyone takes photos there now (me and my family included). Does that make it a ripoff?
- tekn0wledg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great visuals....
- rlgarcia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Its very suprising that, considering the whole world, 7 of 10 most beaultiful places are in US (4) or Australia (3)...
We're so lucky that we are the most rich, have the bigger army, and have the most beaultiful places of the world in our territory! Surely we don't have any need to consider the rest of the world in anything!- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1"Its very suprising that, considering the whole world, 7 of 10 most beaultiful places are in US (4) or Australia (3)."
It couldn't POSSIBLY be that the reason is that the U.S. and Australia are two of the largest countries, could it ... - 1021, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6 Diggs, are you high or something? Have you heard of Russia, China, Brazil?
- sedawk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"It couldn't POSSIBLY be that the reason is that the U.S. and Australia are two of the largest countries, could it ..."
No it couldn't. It's an America site, so I can understand that bias. However, the US and Australia do not make up 70% of the land mass on the planet -- far from. Where are the natural wonders from Russia, Canada, Brazil, China and India? These countries have over 3 times the land mass of the US and Australia.
I rolled my eyes at the first choice: Yosemite. Don't get me wrong, very beautiful place -- but top 10 greatest natural wonder -- *sigh*. I'm sure the person who dreamed up this list is too busy watching re-runs of "Three's Company" to explore the rest of the world.
(Oh, and "Three's Company" is a rip-off of a british show :) - spidoman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Or it could be because Austraila and North America are two of the most unique land masses in the world. North America as it probably has the largest variety of climates and geographical features of any continent, and Australia because it's just different from every other place in the world. The only one I really question is Yosemite (and the dunes?)
- martsmithuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great barrier reef, anyone??
- sedawk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't why I have to point out the obvious: USA does not equal North America! -- Actually the US makes up less than half of it.
"North America as it probably has the largest variety of climates and geographical features of any continent" -- I don't want to be a jerk, but you really must enjoy Three's Company.
- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1"Its very suprising that, considering the whole world, 7 of 10 most beaultiful places are in US (4) or Australia (3)."
- Xtapalatakettle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, this clearly isn't a list of top 10 natural wonders. Just a gallery of nature shots
Title is inaccurate, pictures are nice.
@ DiggsOnlyNeoCon - Get a clue the US and Australia aren't even close to the largest countries.- ICTerify, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Uh according to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_area the US is the 3rd largest (tied with China) and Australia is number 6. You get a clue.
- gerrod, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kind-of feels like they ran out of interest when they put up "Abstract Dune Shots" :-)
- ylikone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Useless in resolutions less than 1280 x 1024
Geesh, who is still running 800x600??! - ph33rm3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no love for canadian wonders?

- MikeOSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anybody know a good way to rotate wallpapers in windows xp? For instance, lets say you have a folder of wallpapers, and you want each wallpaper to display for 5 minutes, then switch to another wallpaper? Its very easy to do in mac os x, but I have yet to find a way to do it in xp without downloading some third party software aka adware.
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I have yet to find a way to do it in xp without downloading some third party software aka adware."
third-party software is NOT also known as adware. There are plenty of free, adless programs that will do it. Irfanview is one of thousands. If you just find adware, you need to change the way you look for programs.

- HoiPolloi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I never realized that a lot of the Earth's natural wonders were in the United States. They should have just called it: Greatest Wonders of the United States...and some in Australia.
Blah blah... - texnofobix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www9.nationalgeographic.com/channel/photogallery/wonders/photo3.html
Wow nice "Mafia google suggestion" - samsara1981, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When I click the 1024 link, I get only an 800 wallpaper. I can play with the URL and come to the conclusion that the 1024 pics are not present on the server, e.g. the ayers rock image is http://www9.nationalgeographic.com/channel/photogallery/wonders/images/wallpaper/uluru_800.jpg but there is no http://www9.nationalgeographic.com/channel/photogallery/wonders/images/wallpaper/uluru_1024.jpg
What gives? - treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Go Australia... 3/10!
- mijji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0too much US, too little everything else.
But it's an US site, so who cares ;)
