- itsameericle, on 12/23/2007, -2/+113Self-congratulating validation...Just what my ego needs.
- vervalsing, on 12/23/2007, -2/+63It's interesting, but it reminds me of those "Are You A ___?" quizzes you can find in any chick magazine.
However, like when I take those quizzes, I will just assume that it's accurate since I came up with a satisfactory conclusion. - atbnet, on 12/23/2007, -2/+63I had a professor that referred to this as 'intellectual masturbation'.
- jpease, on 12/23/2007, -0/+40This is dumb. The quiz tries to help you answer one vague question by asking you thirty-seven of them.
- MikeFallopian, on 12/23/2007, -1/+40If 75% of these arbitrary characteristics fit you, you're one of the 100% of people considered gifted by my blog.
- roomforpanic, on 12/23/2007, -0/+35Nothing screams pseudo-intelligentsia like an out of place yin-yang.
- jaymzdean, on 12/23/2007, -2/+36article's Cliff notes:
You are gifted. - neseus, on 12/23/2007, -3/+32They could sum it all up in one question...
Are you an egotistical, pseudo intellectual? - khedoros, on 07/31/2009, -0/+20A list of complimentary qualities? Of course they all fit me!
- khedoros, on 07/31/2009, -3/+21Just because it doesn't do any good doesn't mean it isn't fun to do once in a while....or a couple times a day...
- Unreal595, on 12/23/2007, -0/+15Say I do answer 75% of 37 with a yes, but I can't figure out what 75% of 37 is, am I gifted then?
- Speaking, on 12/23/2007, -1/+15wtf is Robin Bal and why should I care about their crappy blog entry?
- eatsushi, on 12/23/2007, -2/+16I'm gifted....now what?
- giveer, on 12/23/2007, -0/+14Oh my. Well, if you ever get stranded in the mountains, be sure to eat him first.
- BlueSkyfish, on 12/23/2007, -1/+14I'm not.
- trickyt, on 12/23/2007, -3/+15you're lucky. it's more of a "curse." doomed to perpetual boredom with the world .. until you get an idea! then you try to share it! then everyone makes fun of you for being so weird.... and then you cry because you're so highly sensitive :'(
- chugger1992, on 12/23/2007, -1/+1227.75
you're gifted when you can figure out how you can have 3/4 of a yes/no question right. - LePoissonDeNoel, on 12/23/2007, -0/+10"Hold a glass plate in front of your face. Does it fog up?
If so, buy my book!" - chugger1992, on 12/23/2007, -1/+11yes!
- whta, on 12/23/2007, -1/+11What a worthwhile, objective analysis!
- Encablossa, on 12/23/2007, -1/+10When it comes to such a vague list, I guess it's better to leave it to accomplishments to decide superiority.
"Do you search for meaning in your life?" Says enough..
Buried as *****. - Paktu, on 12/23/2007, -8/+16Cue Ralph Wiggum: "I'm special!"
- paxtongrey, on 12/23/2007, -0/+7well of course you're a gifted individual if you meet criteria like "Are you a good problem solver". that's like asking "are you intelligent".
this is just trying to get hits with a hook title and ego food filler. but some people like this sort of thing so i won't digg it down. - giveer, on 12/23/2007, -0/+7- And as it seems, *YOU'RE* not gifted either.
- giveer, on 12/23/2007, -2/+9Dude, that's the second your/you're error in the same thread, and now you're pumping out sentence fragments. Go read.
- Humptydank, on 12/23/2007, -0/+6As a supremely gifted person myself, I have the ability to factor this list of 37 questions down to one:
"Do you have a sense that the answers to these questions have no correlation, statistical or otherwise, to even the most liberal definition of gifted?"
If your answer is "Your single question doesn't even make sense, you idiot." Then congratulations... - Kerrigore, on 12/23/2007, -0/+6No matter how brilliant the ideas you present at a conference, if you forget to wear pants, people will not take you seriously.
- Citizenkan3, on 12/23/2007, -1/+7Nope, I'm not gifted....sucks.
- haterrade, on 12/23/2007, -0/+6you had exactly 27.75?
you really are special - myt29, on 12/23/2007, -0/+6I was labeled as gifted during my years of compulsory education. It's just an excuse to give me more work to do.
- inhaler, on 12/23/2007, -2/+7I've seen some fluff here on Digg, but this article makes snuggle bear blush. "Sadly, not enough is known about giftedness. More time and energy need to be spent identifying traits among the gifted, especially since it is these students who go on to contribute much to improving the state of our world." Right. Like the "gifted" individuals who run the Institute for the Study of Advanced Development. Obviously they're doing their part contributing to the world.
Get a job ya hippies. /sarcasm - Lnomis, on 12/23/2007, -1/+6Brilliant. I laughed out loud when you pointed it out.
Dugg and dugg, sir. - simplistics06, on 12/23/2007, -2/+7nope I have a friend who sucks at everything. He has no talents, skills or anything its quite sad.
- djcreamy, on 12/23/2007, -0/+4This list fits everyone. Fail.
- giveer, on 12/23/2007, -1/+5And I piss how I want to piss, but if I piss all over myself, I look stupid. Your call.
- Vlatro, on 12/23/2007, -0/+4I was thinking exactly the same thing, which could only mean you are as relatively ungifted as myself. Apparently as long as you perceive yourself to be intelligent, you are... Who would have thought you'd ever see this coming from a blogger?
To test his postulate that self perception alters tangible fact, I intend to view my self as rich, good looking, and sexually desired by all attractive women. I'll let you all know how that works out for me.
The alleged word "Giftedness" he uses is nothing more than a feel-good hippy ***** term. I'm reminded of the tens of thousands of High-school guidance consulars in this country, who to spite their academic accomplishments and deep insight of virtually all industry and trades still only land a career that pulls down a meager 30k a year. Amazing how that group of people who see themselves as being so "enlightened" and would be fast to parrot these words, is still remarkably less significant to society than... well... just about anyone else. - Angrysock, on 12/23/2007, -0/+4You know you're the one who started this hate trend... Right?
- giveer, on 12/23/2007, -0/+4Okay, *now* I'm policing you: They're, not Their.
- nairanvac, on 12/23/2007, -0/+4If the stuff on this list doesn't make you an intellectual, then what does?
I mainly agree about the egotistical bit, though, but that's only if you brag about it. - inactive, on 12/23/2007, -0/+4I AM SMRT!...S-M-R-T!!!!
- anysublime, on 12/23/2007, -0/+4i landed right on the 75% mark.
i now feel special
thank you internets! - giveer, on 12/23/2007, -0/+4Much like tricks psychics use, the odds that nearly everyone will link SOME truth to each individual point is more than likely. - Meaning that too many people will think they're brilliant - which, as we all know- is really, really bad.
- jonnyboy88, on 12/23/2007, -0/+3Get a job.
- BrainInAJar, on 12/23/2007, -0/+3It's the same as any random hit if you Google "iq test". /EVERYBODY/ scores > 130 on those. They take a standardized IQ test and pick out a handful of the easiest questions on them to ensure that. Mostly just to rope you in to paying the money for the "detailed analysis" sheets or whatever.
nobody's going to pay $10 for a letter that tells them they're a dumb *****, even if they are - Kerrigore, on 12/23/2007, -0/+3Although I agree with the spirit of your post, I do take issue with the idea that choosing a career path to help others, but that doesn't pay particularly well, means that you were somehow unable to find anything "better". I know it's going against materialism to suggest that someone might choose a job based on something other than how much it pays, but I just thought I'd make the point that there are some people who want to help others and not just themselves.
- t3714, on 12/23/2007, -0/+3This is false... I'm technically not gifted until I start liking jigsaw puzzles.
- jonnyboy88, on 12/23/2007, -0/+3True, but it's the gifted hard workers that really go places.
- colto, on 12/23/2007, -0/+3Are you admitting to doing the quizzes in chick magazines? :P
- SwabTheDeck, on 12/23/2007, -0/+3More than half of the questions asked in this article are things that couldn't be objectively answered by the person being asked. I mean seriously, who is going to say that they're not a keen observer, or have strong moral conviction, or feel driven by your creativity? This is all fluffy ***** to make people feel good about themselves in order to drive traffic to this *****'s blog. If you want to know if you're a "gifted adult", take a freakin' IQ test. This is pure nonsense.
- Vlatro, on 12/23/2007, -0/+3I is too
