I thought I fell into the relatively-clever group. This article I don't get. Is it just a silly survey? Or am I missing something? I don't understand why this article is here? Please explain.
They don't care, they still get the marketing data that they need. And I highly doubt that you will remember not to buy a Swingline stapler in 5 years whey you need one.
They are big enough and their server was Digg proof -- they may be good for the stapler. I wonder about the slant on the marketing data though, geeks are going to be the predominant responders. How many geeks use letter moisteners? They forgot a flashlight in the list.
From the bottom of the survey:
"Rules: Limit one entry per person and per household. WE WILL NOT SHIP THE FREE SAMPLE TO A PO BOX ADDRESS. The following promotion is intended for delivery in the [mainland] or [contiguous states] United States only. Void in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, U.S. military installations located in foreign countries. Void where prohibited, licensed, taxed, or otherwise restricted by law. Allow up to 6 weeks for delivery. Not responsible for lost, stolen, mutilated, damaged, illegible, or misdirected mail or for failed submission of order information. Not responsible for providing confirmation of product delivery from submitted emails or phone calls."
Entry per household. I think we have a decent chance of getting our staplers.
But what he said was "not letting me", like there's some kind of bridge troll inside the server actively preventing him from doing it.
In case you can't tell, "it's not letting me" is one of my pet peeves. Those words nearly always take the place of real information that could be used to actually understand (and thus solve) the issue.
The joke? It probably helps if you're American, but you only have to have an address in the US to get the stapler. I suggest sending them to random people.
I don't have roving death squads, I live better then 90% of the rest of the world and I'm middle class, I have the freedom to say and worship in any way that I so choose without fear of repercussions.
You should get off of the anti-American bandwagon and count your blessings.
When was the last time you were threatened by a neighbor because you were a different religion or skin color then them?
"When was the last time you were threatened by a neighbor because you were a different religion or skin color then them?"
Wow...... what a naive comment. You must live in an all white neighborhood. How do you explain Ku Klux Klan? They are American, I'm sure they love black people. How about Police brutality and hate crimes against religions and race?
Also you don't have the freedom to say what you want, if it is something that greatly threatens the government or the US army, you just watch how Free your speech is.
No country is perfect. Sure, there are racial tensions in the US, but there are racial tensions in every country.
And about free speech, obviously there are limits in the US, just like there are everywhere. Any country is going to respond negatively if someone makes threatening marks about government leaders. The US is pretty big on free speech, though: for example, in Germany, you can't deny the Holocaust, whereas in the US, you can say that all you want. As the phrase goes, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
Only because you're probably: 1) Male 2) White 3) Protestant (not crucial to my theory)
Be black, or a woman, and you'd probably be singing a different tune (glass ceiling, paid less for the same work, harassment...)
Oh *****. If you're being paid less for the same work, go to a different company that pays better. If you're black/woman/anything else and you're still bitching about how things are "unfair" then it's YOUR FAULT you're in the situation you're in now.
Nothing is preventing you from going to college and getting a decent degree and nice paying job. Nothing is preventing you from opening your own business and making it rich.
No one likes a whiner "oh poor me! It's not because I'm lazy or mouth off to my boss! It's because I'm a woman or I'm black!".
I don't think they can do that. Their web server is still serving the page that is making the offer, so they are still offering it. If they want to stop offering it, they need to take down the page. They can't offer it and then not honor their offer just because they find it inconvenient to do what they said they would.
It would be awesome if its a "one touch" stapler. A spring actually shoots the staple out so you can have lots of fun shooting staples across the room.
I had the same thought. At first I was thinking "ooh, it's FREE", and then I realized I'm single and I already have two staplers, and I already can't bring myself to get rid of the second one. So why would I get a third and make the problem worse?
