Wikis are great for planning murders - kahlessreborn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Who uses a Wiki to plan a camping trip?
But if someone knows a wiki that you can use to talk to you friends let me at it most of the ones i use have specific purposes and are mostly like various specialized encyclopedias. - FriedGeek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5This is awesome! Look at how easy they were able convey their point! I need a Web 2.0 app that recreates snipped paper doodles...

Where's my VC? Who wants a beta invite? - jivemasta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3It's just an example. What I see it for is teams in business collaborating on a project. This way they have a nice well of all the information they need in a neat and orderly fashion. Wikis are like a 3 dimensional outline. In an outline you have only one direction, down. In a 3d outline you have various blocks of information, and you can get to any other block in a straight line with out going through a bunch of other crap.
- DogHumpsMonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Three dudes and one chick out in the wilderness. And the guys want to bring a knife and rope. Interesting...
- realchaos1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2its 2007, yay!
- trishussey, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Again an awesome video explaining a Web 2.0!
- everfalling, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1i just watched the RSS video, and holy crap i'm doing that now. i've always wondered how an RSS feed was supposed to work, but never got around to finding out. now i'm gonna go out and find those neat little orange icons :P
- Revovisionary, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1don't forget the rum "REDRUM YEY!!!"
- kd1s, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Nice explanation! It's essentially collaborative markup. I'd used Wiki's galore and always like them but never really understood them. Now I get it.
- interiot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@kahlessreborn: It's true that wikis aren't necessarily the best tools for minute-to-minute communication. However, when you're planning a project over the course of several days, and want to keep a single document that succinctly summarizes the decisions made so far, wikis are very good for that.
You may still want a faster way to make the decisions, but, for instance, you'd never record 3 hours of phone calls where you decide what to do, and use that to remember what the conclusions drawn are. The more succinct the better, and having a single document that all participants can update is the most succinct way. - MadocNicely, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrGDZWx9uU8
- stockjones, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Wikis are cool, but for the average business person (versus say a group of techy developers) the text editor concept with wild tags and all is bad. Most Wiki's I see need a more simplified WYSIWYG interface for editing or adding content. Like a fckeditor editor or something. In that regards there are other good collaboration style tools they just aren't necessarily called Wiki's.
- andycinek, on 04/21/2009, -0/+0Inspirational in my classroom!
- kahlessreborn, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Ignore second Point The minute i hit submit he flashed the 3 sites, but first point think about a Wiki seems to take to long cause you need to refresh to do updates, calling you friends seems better. And pull out a piece of paper.
- leelefever, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0You know, I never even thought about it, but the knife and rope thing is pretty funny - never our intention, but funny.
- rfornal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Very cool ... and incredibly simple!
- giorake, on 12/27/2007, -0/+0Short, funny and shows the beauty and the spirit of the Wiki. A great job.
- pomsoon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0True to the spirit of the new Web, or Web 2.0, this video is simple and easy to understand with down-to-earth example of backpacking to a camping site.
Great job, superbly executed! - jedB, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Great work Lee. I built a wiki for our archery club and lots of then still don't get it. I'll add this as a link!
