- staffa, on 07/08/2009, -12/+163Well, given our response to 9/11, I would imagine the post desolation of New York would involve spending billions of dollars failing to capture the one responsible and than spending trillions of dollars killing 100 times as many people who had nothing to do with it.
- elijahyossie, on 07/08/2009, -3/+137Even before watching the film, my guess was "nothing good"
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -5/+95Fallout 3 DLC: New York City
- FakingFamous, on 07/08/2009, -2/+83sucks. i work on 27th St and 6th Ave. looks like I'll be toast within the first 4 seconds
- Hetman, on 07/08/2009, -1/+77Better than having to deal with radiation poisioning and starvation.
- lofilotek, on 07/08/2009, -1/+74Great video and animation. A guy did a google map mashup if anyone wants to see what would happen in their city.
http://www.carloslabs.com/node/16 - Hockey13, on 07/08/2009, -6/+78In case anyone's wondering, the song is Gettysburg by the rock-solid band Ratatat. It's a song off their 2006 album Classics.
- pat0neill, on 07/08/2009, -2/+60michael bay would be the director of that movie
- pGizmo, on 07/09/2009, -2/+42No, I wasn't wondering... because it says that at the end of the video.
- costumemaker, on 07/08/2009, -1/+34The rest of the world could learn a lesson from them. They intentionally disarmed theirs.
- UnpossibIe, on 07/08/2009, -5/+36Sweet zombie jesus! Can we stop blowing up NYC already? Every other movie/scenario has an NYC doomsday scene. What draws so many people to want NYC off the fictional map? It can't be the cabbies, can it?
- dlberk, on 07/08/2009, -2/+33Clicking on this couldn't possibly depress me....
- costumemaker, on 07/08/2009, -6/+34But who's gonna notice?
- Jeezoflip, on 07/08/2009, -1/+27jersey would be ***** from the fallout.
- gritta, on 07/08/2009, -2/+25150Kt is not even a Hydrogen bomb. An ICBM is probably at least 50x more powerful, or around 7Mt. The biggest ever nuke to be detonated was 50Mt, at which point scientists decided that it would be more efficient to make several smaller ones...
Edit: Wikipedia to the rescue... here's an illustration of the above point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Comparative_nucl ... - ParticleMan420, on 07/08/2009, -0/+22the video is dead. is this one it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-lADZG6-PI - blackmesa, on 07/08/2009, -1/+23The largest weapon tested was a 50 megaton bomb. That's 50,000 kilotons. Also, it's "ICBM" (InterContinental Ballistic Missile), and more than 6 independent warheads can be attached to an ICBM, although the maximum is determined by treaty agreements rather than technical limitations. It's quite common for a modern MIRV ("Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle") to have 10 or so warheads, and 40 weighted decoys in place of an additional warhead.
- asgardshill, on 07/09/2009, -1/+22Dugg for "desintegratedly". One hell of a name for a band.
And I'm not your buddy, pal. - iamacyborg, on 07/09/2009, -3/+23Nuclear weapons are scary, but at the same time I'm like - what if someone just randomly came up and shot me in the head? The effect would be the same (for me) if I die or if a million people die with me.
- d686, on 07/08/2009, -2/+21sweet... that brings back some nice memories of being a kid in the 80s and having total, horrifying annihilation in the back of your mind.
- Antialias, on 07/08/2009, -0/+19Nukes have a much smaller range than people imagine. Really the "total destruction" of buildings would be 10 or 15 blocks. After that there would still be concrete structures standing thought very badly damaged. Once you get to 20-30 blocks away you probably would survive the blast if you were in a interior room of a building that didn't collapse. There were people in hiroshima that were in the "blast radius" that lived for decades afterwards. Most died of course though.
- Trick07, on 07/08/2009, -0/+19Traffic would be a lot lighter... The line at Gray's Papaya would be shorter.
- Rankao, on 07/09/2009, -1/+20Nuclear bombs don't suck for those who die. It sucks for the survivors. Especially those who don't get lucky to be directly by the thing when it goes off. Thats why its such a fearsom weapon is not its killing capability but its ability to 1) Turn an entire city into a fireball 2) Obliterate all Transistors for hundreds of miles around (Possibly thousands if placed correctly)
- d686, on 07/08/2009, -0/+17IVIee: was curious if you are as retarded as it first seemed. brief look at your comments in the other thread about neighbourhoods "without *****" confirms it nicely.
- ancientdinko, on 07/08/2009, -1/+19 maybe the bomb will get intercepted by some Canada geese
- rl41, on 07/09/2009, -2/+19Mutant guidos?!
I thought they were already mutants... - proudpheeple, on 07/08/2009, -1/+18Instead of inbred swamp things, you'd just get creepy little Joe Pesci's coming after you with flick knives...
I'm trying to think what the DLC title would be though. - tamothy, on 07/08/2009, -3/+19Is anyone really thinking "phew, I'm just outside of the radius of the blast." *****'s going to hit the fan either way.
- Gravey9, on 07/08/2009, -5/+21Great song, better video.
- conflict123, on 07/09/2009, -2/+18dugg for ratatat
- fadingsignal, on 07/09/2009, -0/+16Is that a bullet shooting out of an ass?
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -7/+22Damn, very scary video. Isn't 150 kiloton nuke just the basic one? Russians have 550 kiloton warheads now, with up to 6 of those warheads on one ICMB.
- ptsuk, on 07/08/2009, -2/+16*crackle of radio* "Looks like we've got another "leak" over at black mesa. Better send in the Gordon to mop things up"*crackle of radio*
- Kicksilver, on 07/09/2009, -1/+14It's not the blast itself buddy, the temperature gets very high nearby the core, more than 2000 degrees celcius. People actually die desintegratedly.
- directedition, on 07/09/2009, -1/+14"iran or n.korea"
Let's narrow that down. Which one has oil? - d686, on 07/08/2009, -1/+14'cause yeah, a nuclear detonation in an american city wouldn't have any other impact beyond getting rid of a few politicians.
- GhostInAShell, on 07/08/2009, -11/+24Vote Republican and this will NEVER happen!
Democrats will lead us to weakness and a national nuclear holocaust.
/s - ParticleMan420, on 07/08/2009, -1/+14iran or n.korea
- ryanonfire, on 07/09/2009, -0/+12That tsar bomb ***** up everything
- getoffmybridge, on 07/08/2009, -2/+14http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czar_bomba
By comparison, the two bombs we dropped on Japan were like 15-20 kilotons. - Gndoab, on 07/08/2009, -1/+13it's the largest and most recognizable american city. suck it up.
- MtheoryX, on 07/09/2009, -0/+12If you want to live in NYC, you gotta take the good with the bad. Deal with it.
- ejlewis, on 07/08/2009, -2/+13I was wondering, and thank you.
- syphern, on 07/08/2009, -0/+11This is just wrong, I hope nothing like this ever happens anywhere!
- costumemaker, on 07/08/2009, -0/+11but despite what you have heard dirty bombs or "suitcase dirty bombs" as they are more commonly known are pretty much ineffective. Exploding uranium with explosives might get people sick but the only person likely to die is the person carrying the case.
- skipvt, on 07/08/2009, -1/+12It brought back memories of being a kid in the 60's and having duck and cover nuclear drills in school.
- jknevitt, on 07/09/2009, -1/+12"What would you do about it?"
Not live the ***** in NYC, that's for damn sure. - wawaweewa2, on 07/09/2009, -0/+10That's cause the other one didnt have a quote from futurama in it.
- inactive, on 07/09/2009, -0/+10Consider yourself lucky.
