- Picaroon, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1It doesn't necessarily say that America spread democracy. What it does show is that we were the first modern nation truly founded on the ideals of representative, republican, democratic rule. Most other countries today that have these things were inspired by the US. And while we established a government of these ideals, we got the framework from important thinkers all over the world, such as Enlightenment philosophers and the Roman Republic.
