- Wolfboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1actually, that's how a lot of those fryers operate. A friend told me that his family makes about five deep-fried turkeys a year at Thanksgiving. They do it in a propane-fired vat of oil, but out in a field, away from structures, etc.
