- SoccerBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I never thought that was going to work... WOW!!!
- Floodle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2One of the better ones I've seen - very effective
- gorkish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For a slightly more intense effect, crank up the brightness on both layers after they are all set -- You might also have some success decreasing the contrast of the black and white layer.
- gorkish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought this was very interesting even though it's a standard persistance of vision illusion. But I liked it a lot so I figured out how to make them out of any image you want
1) Open a color image in photoshop.
2) Duplciate the image onto a new layer - Layer 1. Desaturate Layer 1
3) Duplicate Layer 1 onto Layer 2. Turn off layer 2 in the Layers dialogue
4) Invert Layer 1. Change blending mode of Layer 1 to 'Vivid Light'. You should now be looking at an image that is basically the colors of the picture without luminance information.
5) Merge Down layer 1 to blend it with the background layer (The original image)
6) Invert the new background layer.
7) Make a new top layer and Draw a dot in the middle on a new layer so you have something to focus on.
You should now have a three layer image -- background is inverted color information, next layer is black and white, top layer is just a dot. Get your mouse ready to turn the b&w layer on then start staring at your mark. Give it 20 seconds or so then click! - marioluigi123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0At first I was like, "Of course it looks like it's in color...it IS." And then I moved the mouse over it without staring and I was amazed. The colors were perfect.
