- mattxb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+176that just plays automatically whenever you close a bag of chips like that
- nymphetamine, on 10/11/2007, -0/+56Direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rB6bf8DqMQ
- jdenzer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+40Theme song to 70's show 'Chips'
- Freshjive787, on 10/11/2007, -5/+42HOLY ***** *****!
- ZoomBoy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+35Next time, show the hardest part to the camera, not your stomach.
- ethon, on 10/11/2007, -4/+34You're a liar. I just tried it, and instead, Yakety Sax started playing.
- BritishGolgo13, on 10/11/2007, -2/+31So can we safely call this a chip bag hack?
/sarcasm - Otto, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Neat trick, but a clip is simpler.
For all you office types: Find and steal several of the big giant black binder clips from work. Those are like the greatest chip clips ever. Way better than the plastic store bought crap. The big black binder clips are strong enough to hold the bag up by the clip itself.
If you're really OCD, you could even hang the chip bags up by those clips on a hook sort of thing. Organize those chips, sucker! - dneirfkraf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Too noisy. In my house, the kids, the wife, and the dog, come running around, at the slightest hint of a chip bag rustle.
- FadieZ, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14I used to use this trick, but my chips always ended up stale after 2-3 days. Some things are just too good to be true.
- DubbedOver, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10It seems in my household I can't even get people to use the chip clip, let alone learn and remember to fold it in a special way.
But it's a neat thing to do at a BBQ or something and show people. - DarkSenay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Dugg for the CHiPs theme
- MadEnvoy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13I don't want to see his "hardest part" thanks.
- csb92376, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Most ordinary foods now come in resealable bags these days... but still not chips. Did the chip manufacturers not get the memo yet? Somebody want to send them that one?
MEMO
Dear Chip Manufacturer People:
There is a wonderful invention out now called "resealable bag technology". (It's actually been around for a long time, but I won't go into the details). Please use it in your bags.
Thank you,
Disgruntled chip eater. - grooviekenn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Dugg exclusively for title NOT saying "Potato Chip Bag Hack" ;-)
- DiamondIce, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8@mattxb (#6932181)
My bag of Tostitos played "La Bamba" - jewdiknight, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Awesome music, anyone know were it is from?
- eggo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Nah, a better solution to the bag falling in the can is an extra-large rubber band stolen from the post office.
- danmanx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I don't think much of this clip. Frankly, I don't give a chip. Plus they weren't even regular chips, those were those new synder's sun chips.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Dugg for C.H.i.P.s theme song
- Elfman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Paunch and John would fold their chip bags like that.
Just before going to the roller disco and hittin on the ladies. - qwertydvorak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3i keep binder clips in the kitchen for that reason. if the garbage bag falls down into the can alot, you can binder clip them on the underside of the plastic lip around the edge.
- FirstPersonShow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2too difficult. Seeing the demo, the guy took too long (and he is gonna be quicker than me and most others). I'd rather use the chip clip and be done 5 times faster. I'm just sayin'
- EvaMonkey01, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3MY TROUBLES ARE OVER!! Thank you lifehacker, you saved my bacon once again *Insert unnecessary comedy laughter, roll credits*
- Iolite, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4@retrorufio: Yeah you can roll it up but the bag always unrolls later unless you prop it up strategically against something, and even then that's no guarantee of success.
- Niek, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4I guess you've got a very interesting live then...
/sarcasm - Th3_anOmoLy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Does anyone remember "tight rolling" their jeans in the late 80's? That's all I could think of watching this
- namae, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Dugg exclusively for good use of background music.
- WonderBoy55, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Brilliant!
- Skafia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1chip clip... You mean wang hangers?
- dkurfurst, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Hey!
I have been doing this for about 15 years - who stole my "patented bag fold" - twiztedambience, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2how "to" spell the word "two" hmm..
- dralezero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Kinda like folding to socks together. Which actually for socks you shouldn't do that, stretches them out I heard.
- dhVyse, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2The chip to air ratio inside the bag is the factor which determines the speed of the staling of the chips, therfor, a clip is best, as no one likes stale chips. =)
- fuzzboxer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1An easier way is to just fold the ends in like the nose of a paper airplane then continue to roll down.
- twiztedambience, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5simple solution. roll bag up as much as possible, then turn upside down and gravity holds the rolled up part together. w--o--w...
Now where is my advertising revenue for having people view my site to see this awesome trick? I guess I will have to make a video of me doing that and post it on my blog... - jovendelavega, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1how about staplers?
- rushiku, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Oh, so that's why they only fill the bags halfway. You'd think they'd tell us, or maybe print instructions on the bag or something.
- dn11, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1this is similar to how a drybag works - so your chips could theoretically survive a dunking in the river too
http://nookie.co.uk/resource/images/Nookie%20Dry%20Bag%20All.jpg - ApolloXLII, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I DONT EAT ***** CHIPS!
and my friend just said im a pinko commie for not eating chips. ***** salt. - steppingrazor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I don't think I ever had leftover chips. I would like to see a way to get all the crumbs out without making a mess.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So true. I still didn't get the trick. Smashed my screen, burned down my house. Afterwards, I bought a clip. Could have saved my day.
- mrosen310, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Two words ***** AWSOME
- clickmyface, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Oh yes, the Internet. Somedays you learn science, religion, and culture.
Other days you learn how to close a bag of chips.
Alas, such a sweet and mysterious world she lives. - TheLsh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0i feel special :)
- mrmacky, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Finally, my cheetos will never go stale again, or at least, last a few days longer....
(I'm to damn lazy / busy to go out in the kitchen and grab a chip clip :) ) - jt32470, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0how about 90% full bag smart guy? i think i will survive paying the hefty sum of .75ยข for a chip clip.... good idea for a halfway full bag though never thought of it ...digg
- Palmeiro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I can't say I've been doing this for 15 years, but I've definitely been doing it for around 5 years.
Not impressed, you tell me you guys couldn't figure that out? - stubag, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1give that man a medal
- techonix, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Zomg 1337 lif3 skillz that ill
