Time Lapse Video of Flight Patterns of North America from Space - Oooh! watch!
users.design.ucla.edu — Very cool to watch. I especially like the sweeping effect that takes place near the middle, as it hits about noon in each time zone. Neat to be able to see the outline of the US just from the flight patterns.

- lazyrussian, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4WRONG! Work's like a charm :)
- Roksix, on 10/11/2007, -2/+54Yeah, I think this was an art project. Anyways it is DEFINITELY not from space.
- jmpeagle, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4very good find...dugg
- rhinopig, on 10/11/2007, -6/+41This was posted over 6 months ago (maybe a year ago?). Anyway, this version is better http://users.design.ucla.edu/~akoblin/work/faa/Documentationl2.html
- jamesallen74, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3It was cool in the middle but the ending with bubbles and the blob stuff sucked
- le0pard, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Damn that was cool

- Timespeak, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0What do the different colored routes suggest? I saw the international flights were red and blue, but what do the others mean?
- XStatic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Weird
http://users.design.ucla.edu/~akoblin/work/earworms/movie.html- Timespeak, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1That's very interesting. You should post this separately.
- fhernand, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Beautiful. Anyone knows what the colors represent? And if the trajectories are really curved like that? Or is ist just for visualization purposes?
- norman619, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2LOL!!! Yeah this is def NOT from space. We can see the City lights from space but not air craft. Still pretty damn cool.
- MikeonTV, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I can see my plane from here
- popltree2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Interesting watching it spread from East to West.
- revjustin2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2trippy AND informative! nice combo!
- novask, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Correction, humans are not animals. We're more like insects. Looking at that I was either thinking ant colony or bee hive.
- zzmonki, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What's with the planes landing between the west coast and Hawaii in the middle of the pacific ocean? Maybe an aircraft-carrier?
- goodkidyo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I can't get EITHER link to play.
Someone please post another format, thanks.. - AlexWills, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3September 11th, 2001 would be an interesting date to see the flight patterns.
- wolfie8914, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Does anybody notice that empty triangle just east of southern California? Virtually zero planes are ever in the area, and it's a pretty significant size. Military no-fly zone?
- Anonymous99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Area 51 maybe?
- Urusai, on 10/11/2007, -7/+5I'm not installing QuickTime. Sorry, Apple, I don't want to upgrade to QuickTime Pro, either, nor do I want your phone, your music player, your computers, or your Kool Aid.
- cdmarcus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41) stfu, none of us care
2) I'm on Linux, not using QuickTime, and it's playing just fine. Go find a FOSS media player for Windows and be happy. - JeffD, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm
- cdmarcus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41) stfu, none of us care
- Jeoha86, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0interesting how you can see the basic shape of North America just by the paths taken by all those planes.
- jonessoda1996, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Dude, Sweet! =)
- vspazv, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1when it says 12GST thats 7am on the east coast not noon.
