- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Hmm, that was an interesting short documentary. Not too much that I didn't know, but very useful to those who don't know it.
It touches on how silly it was to make Marijuana illegal... and how big a problem Prohibition is... How horrible it is to arrest people over this kind of issue... And some good ways we could legalize... and also who's tried to stop it from being legalized... lol -_-
Marijuana is legal in to use in the Netherlands and only 21% of teens 12-18 have tried it... vs 38% here in the states... So what's wrong with that picture?
If they really wanted used to go down, they'd legalize it, and stop arresting hundreds of thousands of innocent users...
If you Normalize it... don't think of it as such a Taboo, people wont look at it as such a big deal and use goes down.
The part about the companies who contribute against Marijuana legalization... was very neat to see... Beer companies... lol- dsgncr8or, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1But who would they get to fill the jails and make money from housing them?! Will say SOME of the facts are slightly distorted to support the cause, and that may weaken the argument for those who need to be reached. Besides, i am one of those that would WAY rather hang with a pothead over an alcoholic - ANY DAY!
- TheN, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Awesome, I wish this would get dugg more!
This is one of those things, more Americans need to see.- NiX0n, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Are you kidding? There's so many Marijuana related stories on Digg, it's starting to make me think we're all a bunch of.... Dude, my hands are HUGE. They can touch anything but themselves... *touches his hands together* Oh, wait.
- Giggy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Short, to the point and very informative. Great work!
+digg - martin2968, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6 "Would you want a pilot flying when he's high"..."going 300 miles per hour..."
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8lol, I totally cracked up when I heard that... how could anyone ask that question...
Just like with alcohol, responsible people will not use it on the job... If someone honestly asked that to my face... I think I'd instantly lose any respect for them... my response would totally own them.- Doghound, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The problem is this: cops wont let you answer the question unless it's what they wanted to hear.
I was pulled over for speeding and, thanks to a friend, it turned into a small marijuana possession issue (long story). The cops would ask me a question and I'd try to explain an answer, but they wouldn't ***** listen. Mainly because I tried to explain to them what was up instead of saying "Yes, sir, the marijuana was mine... please ***** me in the ass now". Worst part about it was that I was completely sober... I could have even passed a drug test.
- Doghound, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The problem is this: cops wont let you answer the question unless it's what they wanted to hear.
- Joshie1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7yeah that was ***** ridiculous
i wouldnt want my pilot on weed, coke, acid, meth... that cop is ***** retarded - mrlinux, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I would have to agree. Cops are dumbasses. I kinda felt sorry for the guys he was talking to, you could tell they were stoned. Probably having a horrible trip from all the damn paranoia. ***** cops...
- dsgncr8or, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2The CRAZY thing is - do we let DRUNKS DRIVE? No... and I am sure as ***** that they probably wouldn't let pilots fly on weed if it was legalized, so the whole argument is completely out of touch with reality - typical for our police force - when I was taken in on a possession charge, the cop even said that "pot will be the downfall of our society" and I choked back my amazement.
- Tomguruken36, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hell yeah I want him to be high...*****.. you gotta be high to make a metal tube fly through the air at 300 miles an hour..
- OneAndOnlySnob, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I don't want him to be high... but if he was drunk as a skunk, that'd be pretty okay, right?
Actually, if it were one or the other, I'd definitely want him to be high. Marijuana doesn't mess you up nearly as bad as alcohol.
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8lol, I totally cracked up when I heard that... how could anyone ask that question...
- BMANZZS, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9The question the cop asked the young men was incredible stupid.
- Doghound, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2You mean about flying a plane high? I don't know, it is a reasonable question... I wouldn't want my pilot flying high. He can get high all he wants any other time, imo.
Then again, the cop asked the question hoping the kid would say "no"... then the cop would turn it against the kid saying "then why do you get high?" As if there's a correlation between getting high & flying a plane and getting high & chillin with a buddy.- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1seriously... lol It's a question frequently used to try and get an upper hand in a situation where they want to shame drug users.
The only reasonable response to such a question is. "No, but how often do airplane pilots get drunk on the job? What makes you think there would be higher incidence of pilots flying high, than drunk?"- Doghound, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2"It's a question frequently used to try and get an upper hand in a situation where they want to shame drug users."
That's about what the 2nd half of my comment means.
Also, if you tried to respond to a cop with that, I guarantee that you wouldn't get beyond the word "but". They'd stop you and make their point.

- slug0, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8^ canadian eh!
Here are some facts about Canadian drugs laws.. compare and contrast ..
2000:Marijuana Party becomes Canada's newest federal political party
2000:Court ruled that banning marijuana for medicinal purposes violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
2001:Canada becomes first country to regulate the medicinal use of marijuana. (Not addressing the issue of recreational use.)
2004:Canadians can apply for the right to possess and grow marijuana and buy it from the government.
2007:The provisions respecting the criminalization of the possession of marijuana were declared unconstitutional.
Now we're pushing hard to "decriminalize" recreational use.
57% of Canadians say adults who use marijuana should be left alone.
53% of Canadians support regulating and taxing marijuana like alcohol.
55% of Canadians say $400 million/year on pot laws is a poor use of law enforcement resource.
Seems to me that a smaller majority of regular Canadians have more pull in their government than a much larger majority of American citizens...sad to see that so many problems in the states are so tangled in politics. Please don't think our (Canadian) government is ideal.. we have our share of problems as well.. but seems to me we approach many things with a lot more common sense.

Interesting map of laws around the world: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fd/World-cannabis-laws.png- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Well that's great! I just wish America was closer to decriminalization too...
What is Canada doing right in this situation, that we aren't? lol - mrlinux, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Right. Well, duh, of course Canadians approach things with a lot more common sense. The leaders of Canada aren't paid off by alcohol companies ... and you don't have a complete dumb-***** for a president.
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Well that's great! I just wish America was closer to decriminalization too...
- Doghound, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I dugg this video because it makes a whole lot of sense! Great arguments and pretty much sums up the fallacies in the US's war on drugs policy and the pluses of legalizing marijuana... all in just 15 minutes.
However, I wish the red herring attack of "the congressmen voted against the bill because they receive money from alcohol lobbyists" was left out. Just because they received money from alcohol lobbies doesn't mean they were told to vote against the MJ bills. I mean, if MJ was made legal, who knows which companies would actually produce the stuff for mass market? The good part of marijuana is its vary easy to grow. When was the last time you made beer in your basement ,and tobacco needs a certain climate to grow and you need to process it as well.- Doghound, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I have a friend who makes beer almost every other month. New Belgium brewery was started by 2 college kids in a basement.
And, besides, that's my point. Anyone could start up their own manufacturing company to sell weed to the masses... including the alcohol companies. Especially considering they have a massive amount of capital that they sit on and could use to build factories specific for producing marijuana.- Bluntman4000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I dugg you up, but i thought Id add that It would prove costly to have to start a whole another business and own 2 competing products.

- mrlinux, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I hope that someday we get a good president and marijuana becomes legal for recreational use and I am going to smoke a few blunts in front of the police station. Maybe get a lawn chair and some chips and just sit there and smoke all of it. Haha that would be awesome. Ill probably be 70 by the time it will be legal to do that. If ever. Oh, and I thought it was kind of ironic that the song at the end was Money by Pink Floyd, which is the song my dad always got high to when he was my age.
- stuartwyatt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Fantastic short film! The world is mad when it comes to marijuana. I am a medicinal user myself, and have tried all 'legal' drugs for my illness, and they literally drove me mad. I only use cannabis now, and run the risk of prosecution for the sole crime of wanting to be well.
- dsgncr8or, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1and the sick part is - the drug companies want you on those drugs, and then they wanna give you the ones that take less crazy but gives you diarrhea, and then all you want is the magic pill that keeps you from having a compulsive desire to throttle the doctor that gave them to ya in the first place!
- dsgncr8or, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This movie needs to have a way to get downloaded and shared like a activistic virus!
- doobisbone, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0That was a very good video!
- WanderLink, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Great, more stoner ***** on digg. How many minutes till the next "atheism is awsome" video?
- martin2968, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3the bigger issue here is about what it means to be a free American and how a law such as an illegal plant was made illegal and how in the same time harder drugs are legal. you obviously did not watch the video because it makes those points. Its educational *****

Ron Paul 2008
Hope for America - dustedknuckle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I see two main reasons it hasn't been decriminalized. 1) Its too easy to grow and they wouldn't be able to tax the stuff that wasn't government sanctioned. 2) They don't have a definitive instant test like the breathalizer for alcohol to determine the level of impairment.
