- Lucas123, on 10/02/2008, -0/+16Money-wise. Just ask my plumber. He's got two big houses and a brand new Harley.
- AmyVernon, on 10/02/2008, -0/+14Oooh. I want to install elevators.
- Crackerpat, on 10/02/2008, -0/+15Making 6 figures and digging all day at work and no college degree. Hard work and knowledge of my industry.
- UltramegaOK, on 10/02/2008, -0/+4Oh, so you're a coke dealer?
- santiago1, on 10/03/2008, -0/+1 I think he means he has 6 daughters and is in the graveyard maintenance business...
- BeShirtHappy, on 10/02/2008, -0/+12I'm with Amy... I'd like to install elevators. As for dental hygienist, I didn't know they didn't need a degree.
- StevenAM, on 10/02/2008, -0/+12Air Traffic Controller. What an ass-clinching stressful job that is. No thanks.
- MacBookForMe, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6I love stress and adrenalin boosts:)
- StevenAM, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5Me too, but I can stand to get that without having the lives of 100's of people in my hands. I'd rather bungee jump or something like that.
- ohnoerino, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5I think it's a little scary that almost all jobs related to aviation don't require degrees.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/02/2008, -0/+4It's true that you don't need a degree to become a certified controller, but good luck trying to get a job without one. Also, most major airlines require their pilots to have a four year degree before they hire them. The same generally holds true for many of jobs in this industry. Don't worry, they're not a bunch of gorillas out there. ;)
- ohnoerino, on 10/03/2008, -0/+1A few years ago, after undergrad, I decided to become a flight attendant for one year for fun. In my entire time with the (major) airline, I only met three pilots w/ degrees. The rest were from the military. Out of everyone I met (pilots, controllers, ops, customer service, baggage, corporate headquarters) the flight attendants were the most "degree-holding" group.
- FlankedOut, on 10/02/2008, -0/+3Ever see that movie pushing tin? I think that was the name anyway. 3 strikes you're out kinda deal but the bank you can make...
- MacBookForMe, on 10/02/2008, -0/+6I love stress and adrenalin boosts:)
- ScottMcIntyre, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10I see my former career- HR manager- is at no 66. I got a university degree in Scotland which is the equivalent of a college degree. Maybe if I lived in the US, I wouldn't have had to do all that studying!!
- StockholmSyn, on 10/02/2008, -0/+5I'm Head of IT Services in a good sized company. I have no degree and pretty much everything I know is self taught. Friends, who have Cisco qualifications are begging me for a job. Whilst they were studying the ins-and-outs, I was out getting experience. I'm not saying degrees are worthless [see, liberal arts major below], but in a lot of fields, it's got very little to do with having a degree, regardless of how much the 'need' to have one is pushed on you through high school and college.
- gsgdiggs, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7Too funny....economist is on this list, and you are saying that position does not necessarily require a degree. That explains a lot.
- Linguo, on 10/02/2008, -0/+12How about Power Digger?
- UltramegaOK, on 10/02/2008, -0/+7Babyman!
- UltramegaOK, on 10/02/2008, -0/+10As a liberal arts major, I'm ***** my pants......
- AmyVernon, on 10/03/2008, -0/+5The good news is that even a liberal arts major could probably do these jobs! Want to install elevators?
- Mathieugothax, on 10/03/2008, -0/+7Where's being a blogger in there?
- HaloZero, on 10/03/2008, -0/+8Man, airline pilots make bank.
- gavinhudson, on 10/04/2008, -0/+1Surprising since unpaid internships seem to require a Master's these days.
