Ten Terrible Parenting Tips: From Booze to Burners
divinecaroline.com — Every new parent gets a few copies of Goodnight Moon, gobs of bibs and blankets, and loads of advice: You have to nurse … breast is best. Don’t bother nursing … formula is a godsend. Don’t go to your child when he cries at night … let him cry it out. Only parents who hate their kids let them cry at night. And on and on..

- stignordas, on 07/25/2008, -0/+16Too funny. I can't believe how many of these myths are still used today. For instance: “Why don’t you just have a C-section? It’s so much easier than giving birth.” I've watched a c-section up close, and cared for a mother just afterwards. Believe me, if it can come out the natural way, everybody is better off!
- skewl, on 07/25/2008, -0/+12 “Oh no, he’s a thumb-sucker. You don’t want that. He’ll have buck teeth. Put a little Tabasco sauce on his thumb. That’ll stop him.”

- VipperOfVipp, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3One thing I've learned: Babies don't lie, so you're not going to spoil them by overly comforting them. They're not trying to trick you into picking them up and soothing them.
But once they reach 1.5 years old, all bets are off. - samoan27, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Here's a relatively new one:
"Baby Einstein (and other baby videos) will stimulate your babies mind and they'll be smarter than average."
While this is relatively new, what testing has been done shows fairly conclusively that a stationary, non-interacting television stimulates as much as any other inanimate object they can't interact with (even playing with blocks is a better learning tool) and if this is used to replace human interaction (and it does) your baby will be significantly dumber than average. - tinybubs, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2This article sounds like Common Sense, who would have thought that line of thinking would be best for a baby?
Spoil those babies, they're a baby only once in their lives, let them enjoy themselves.
