- gmarks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Wow, his last story was great.
- ColinCampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've read this plenty of times, but I've never watched it. Thanks :)
- macmcrae, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6He might as well be saying, save your money morons, I didn't go to college and I make more money than the last three graduating classes combined ever will.
- dimsum05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I thought I had enough respest for this man, and you guys show me this. What can I say, he really loves what he does, and it really shows in his philosophy. To many people fail to give credit for the right reason.
I could care less for what he does for a living. Just seeing the amount of his passion for whatever "it" is is inspiring.
BTW, did anyone else notice his bottled water! XD
EDIT:@ macmcrae: Shhh!
- Wardvark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23I have seen this a few times, but it is an awesome speech, and well worth seeing if you haven't.
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2oops, digg down
- drizek, on 10/12/2007, -28/+14Hes so full of himself.
Go ahead, digg me down. The Reality Distortion Field compels you!- schroduggity, on 10/12/2007, -21/+4ya he is. the pirates of silicon valley is the best representation of him i've ever seen.
the guy doesn't even know how to program. and he never bothered to learn after being involved with apple for soooo long. either he's too stupid to learn or too arrogant to realize it's importance. - drizek, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9ya, its a great movie. According to Woz, their Jobs impersonation is spot on.
- schroduggity, on 10/12/2007, -17/+4Woz is the real founder behind Apple. Jobs was just along for the ride the whole time.
- macmcrae, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1That was the most lame movie of the 90s. Along for the ride? Have you heard from any apple zealots lately?
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Wow, some of you guys are such tiny, little people. What did Steve Jobs ever do to you?
- Sonizel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Woz was the engineer and Jobs was the salesperson.
- schroduggity, on 10/12/2007, -21/+4ya he is. the pirates of silicon valley is the best representation of him i've ever seen.
- mroffroad, on 10/12/2007, -14/+3c0ck3y bastard...
- kenman345, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8very nice speech, those kids are so lucky they got Jobs to give that speech. it will be something they will have to tell their kids when Jobs becomes an official god of technology in ten years. haha, Jobs is the man!
- darkamster07, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Jobs to college graduates: you should have dropped out like me, LOL
- kenman345, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Wrong, Jobs said that you gotta find your own way, make your own decisions and do what you enjoy in order to get ahead in life, because you don't have that much time to wait and put off what you really want to do at some other point
- NightRush, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Say he's a cocky bastard, I don't much care, I still think he is a great man and it was great to see him share some life stories. Renetto did a long little life story on YouTube (think there might be two) and its great to hear such stories when your only 16 and a little lost.
- kenman345, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0wow, great comment, took the words from my brain and everything. i feel the same way, Steve Jobs = Awesome. no matter what people say. and the stories show that he is human(even though he is god) and that we have a chance to be like him(since we are made in his image)
- nonokiaboy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Arrgh they all stood up at the end, like hollywood.
Grr! - weezerrock86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7It was different not hearing him open with, "Good Morning".
- XedLos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2beat that Bill Gates (have you ever overcome that many odds) Go and make them Bus Stop pc's (wat a stupid idea)
Dam i was on the edge of my seat just waiting to see Jobs throw iphones (or should i say itouch mobile) to everyone LOL (i know iphone had not been announced hahah)- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.jmusheneaux.com/Arrows/BIILL%20GA.jpg
Notice in the background: a blue-screen-of-death and a 128k Mac.

- tktino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8That was better then the keynote...
Any keynote he had ever given. - mindsnare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Frankly if you're making that much cash and on the upper management board of 2 major companies, I think you can afford to be a little full of yourself.
- astrosmash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15That was a surprisingly great speech.
Story 1: When I was a kid in the 80s I always loved the fonts on the old B&W Mac. Was it because 'Chicago', 'Geneva', and 'Monaco' were really that good, or just that everything else was so much uglier in comparison? Regardless, even though I had never actually been a Mac user, I have to admit to being charmed when these fonts reappeared 15 years later on the iPod (and are still on current Macs)
Story 2: I've never thought of it before, but if Jobs had not been fired from Apple in 1985, there would be no NeXT, no (meaningful) Objective-C language, Java (influenced by Obj-C) might have been considerably different, and there would be no OS X. That is a highly unfortunate scenario.
Story 3: I'll just quote: "Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition; they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." Great stuff.
Arrogant? Perhaps, but, like it or not, there are very few people who have been as fundamentally influential in the computer industry as Jobs. This guy is the real deal. - Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6So many of you are missing the message because of your current opinions. He didn't say that you should do what he did with your own life. He didn't say you should drop out of anything.
All he is saying is that you have to do what YOU love in order to do great work, to be your best.
Anything else is dogma - following the ideas of others.
It's so basic, but still deep.
If you can't follow that thought, you haven't had enough life experience yet. - Flarup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i thought it was a great speech. He's got some stories to tell and some wisdom to share, sure he may be a bit full of himself, but i believe in peoples right to be so when they actually earned it. And this man so certainly has.
- trylleklovn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The whole "Live every day like your last"-thing I know far too well..
Occasionally, about twice a month, I experience what is called an extra heath beat.
It is not dangerous at all, but every time I experience it, it feels like what I expect death to feel like.
And damn that has motivated me. - dbora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was surprised by how different his reading a speech differs from his delivering a speech. This is nothing like a Jobs flying high on tech; i.e. his keynote speeches. I remember watching a video of him passionately introducing his fellow geeks - a t-shirt clad Bill Gates sitting on stage in a folding chair included.
I think the transcript of this speech reads better than hearing Jobs read it -which pains me to say because I always thought he was a great orator. I was just listening to an NPR report today from a journalist who said the objectivity basically flew out the window when Jobs started talking about the iPhone. The journalist even admitted it was embarrassing but that damned "reality distortion feature" kicks in hard.- dbora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Uhg, *feature* should have been *field*
- Voltagensis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Why is digg up on Steve Jobs' dick all the time? It was a good speech, but it's not like I haven't seen enough Steve Jobs' media today.
- Joshua, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is my favorite speech of all time.
