- Cloned, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21When Lucas was screening Star Wars, one of the people who was watching it said, "Wow, it's like American Graffiti in space!" during this scene. That's why Lucas cut this out of the movie.
- offput, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20[insert star wars quote]
- DatoeDakari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11The first one just looks like a screen test.
- cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Look up "star wars: deleted magic" if you want to know where a lot of this "lost footage" came from...
Actually, i think deleted magic was dugg a while back. It's a fan-made dvd chronicling all of the deleted scenes and outtakes from the star wars movies. - theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12NOOOOOO! aside, Revenge of the Sith pretty much kicked ass. At least I thought so.
Oh, and Clone Wars (on Cartoon Network, took place between Episodes II and III) was damn awesome. Get the DVD's if you never saw it. - wssharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6speaking of lucas' intentions, i've heard he aimed at episode 4, time-wise, having the same feel as when the united states went to war in vietnam: simple agrarian revolutionaries versus a great national power. it was interesting, then, to hear biggs in this video warn that the empire was about to nationalize most commerce, i think, as that gives them a socialist twist... eh, nothing big
- scratched, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Episode 4 is exactly what Star Wars: A New Hope was, even before the 3 prequel episodes were made.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is great. I had never seen this before. Why wasn't it included in any of the DVD bonus material? I thought it was going to be some tacky scene, but it was actually very interesting. Probably cut out for movie length reasons. Anyways, great to see this,
- psbpv3o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That was a horrible scene. I'm really glad that they took that out.
- eatablog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I think we all missed his horrible attempt at sarcasm.
- dugyo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Brings back memories of watching SW
for the first time (minus these lost scenes of course).
:'( - dizzyd_23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Who knew Johnny 5 was in the original Star Wars?
- montezumamike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I own it, and only the first part with the vaporator and Treadwell is from the radio drama. The rest is original from the video.
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@theblooms, I kinda agree with you, it was the best of the new 3. But check this out: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=episode3
- urbandistrict, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4STARWARS: The Attack of the Cease and Desist Letters.
- airencracken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hadn't caught this before. Nice find and much appreciated.
- bat-21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Those scenes are from the original cut of Star Wars. They are in the novel version of SW. 2 stills (one in which Luke is watching the space battle, another with him talking with Biggs) also made their way into the Scholastic picture book. The Biggs stuff was cut for time. The original intro, along with the Jabba scene, were cut because Lucas wasn't happy with the way they turned out.
The girl is British actress Koo Stark. She dated Prince Andrew until the tabloids revealed that she was in 2 soft porn films, "Emily" and "Cruel Passion". - keenedge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2AWESOME! I have an original 1978 star wars storybook from when I was a kid. It detailed the opening sequence and had pictures from these scenes, including quality pictures of the first clip of Luke and the Treadwell droid and Luke and Biggs. I always wondered if there was missing footage.
Also interesting to note that it said in the book Chewbacca was 200 years old. I guess his scene in Ep.III makes more sense now to me. - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Cool, Ill check that out.
- mrRB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh, so that's what he was referring to in the hanger when he saw Luke. I was wondering about that.
- iseebluuue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nothing too special, but very cool to see. stuff like this should have been on the DVDs. or maybe Lucas is just holding it back so he can release another boxed set.
- lp66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks. I thought I remembered that scene from my childhood!
- EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I remember seeing this for the first time on the "Star Wars: Behind the Magic" CD-ROM.
- Orangeair, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have a bad feeling about this...
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That's no moon. It's a space station!
- lp66, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I could be wrong, but I think that the voices and music come from the radio version of Star Wars by NPR. Anyone own that?
- Neiby, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10I'm not a big Star Wars fan but I really enjoyed episodes 4-6. On the other hand, episodes 1-3 were basically unwatchable *****. They relied too much on special effects and not enough on the story. They had annoying characters, bad scripts, and *horrible* acting.
- ectocooler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2awesome!
- TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually they're pretty cool about it:
http://digg.com/business_finance/Lucasfilm_tells_YouTube_to_put_all_removed_Star_Wars_content_back_online - OBKenobi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It would be great if he redid the CGI on all the episodes again once there is another technological leap. ILM could probably redo the Gungans entirely--since they were 100% CGI, which I think would make fans very happy.
- OBKenobi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Star Wars is Lucas' version of Apocalypse Now.
- DYMongoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What makes them seem gay?
- keeper1616, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The opening audio sounds a lot like the audio from the NPR radio dramatization from the 80s....
- curios, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5May the force be with you, always.
- mydave, on 08/05/2008, -0/+0what to say? I like this film.

- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I remember the 200 year old age from the old SNES side scroller Star Wars games that had him as a playable character.
- rlombardo, on 11/05/2008, -1/+1very cool scene...although i agree with it being cut. i've always heard of it but never saw it...i'm surprised it didn't make its way into the special editions.
- sepllcehck, on 10/12/2007, -9/+9welcome to reality.
http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=star+wars - Xorp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Cool that this is being shared. I saw it a while back on some Original Trilogy restoration bootleg DVDs.
- Anahi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0adorei esse video
- Cain423, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Cool scene, although they seem like a gay 70's couple. Broke-back in space:)
- Hoogie7Dowser, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I hate it when I apple for a job and I don't get hired, or when I invent something, I have to apple for a patent, but it gets rejected.
At least I got admitted to the first school I appled to. But even that instance doesn't really apple to this.
Orange. - MixMastaKooz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I think that first part was an omage to the famous sci-fi film 2001 (a basically silent opening...Lucas cut out the sound for the movie release, but that was cut too)....I could be mistaken, but it's purpose was to harken back to sci-fi movies that came before it...
- mrmagenta, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5i want an apple....where is it
WHY ARE YOU HIDING IT FROM ME - quasipalm, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1"NOOOOOO! aside, Revenge of the Sith pretty much kicked ass."
Hahahahaha -- that belongs on Rotten Tomatoes. - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -20/+1@Eonblue
Your joking right, about how crappy episodes 1 thru 3 are (although 3 had some alright scenes, it was still terrible) Cause if your serious then theres something really wrong about you. - eonblue, on 10/12/2007, -38/+12Episode 4 implies theres episode 1-3. Which have not and will never exist. (or so i can tell myself)
