- luke16, on 04/04/2008, -0/+31"The designs are complete, all we need now are some hip looking kids with Macbooks. Then everyone will love it!"
- ChillEnt, on 04/04/2008, -1/+30I wish that was my house.
- canadian0, on 04/04/2008, -2/+25Judging by the 5th photo, they still haven't found a way to fix emo kids.
- iheartboobs, on 04/04/2008, -2/+25Looks like they wasted a lot of space to me.
- RustyJ, on 04/04/2008, -0/+20That's good that you have those luxuries in beverly hills. You should go check out compton, it's about 25 miles south east of you. You'd love it there!
- jd33, on 04/04/2008, -1/+13My high school had orange pillows, but they were connected to a chair and made of hard plastic where you sat your ass down and got to work. Pffft.... bunch of slackers.
- CAPITALLETTERS, on 04/04/2008, -2/+14Woops, meant: So you want the whole operating system/hardware market to be dominated by 1 company?
- tfox2k1, on 04/04/2008, -0/+11This concept would never work in an American school, too many of our kiddies are lil'gangsters. Maybe we could try some prison bars?
- jackwaters, on 04/04/2008, -3/+14Is it me or do they all have Macbooks?
- Fatcheeseguy, on 04/04/2008, -5/+16Wish that was my high school but no I had to go to a school where we were the best high school in our district with the best test scores and whatnot. Because we were the best, and not the worst, more money would be spent on improving/repairing the lesser schools. The lesser school with repairs would usually consist of more students not caring about education than serious students. Thus money is wasted. Not to mention, my high school is planning to spend thousands/millions on a new athletic field, theatre, and swimming pool. Our football team sucked and won only two or three times each season, but oh yeah it's more important than having 30 or so teachers leaving, retiring or switching school districts last year, but thankfully I graduated. My school literally looks like a prison even according to wikipedia! 95% of classrooms did not have natural lighting and some did not even have a door but rather an opening to enter the classroom. My last year some students wanted to set up a pair of boots for each dead US soldier from the Iraq War, but the principal would not allow it. My high school only had 9, nine, nein AP courses Yes 9! Even the lesser schools in our district would have more AP classes than ours. Public education sucks sometimes.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/04/2008, -1/+12Apparently future == lots of wasted space
- ronk, on 04/04/2008, -3/+13I wish this were my school - not was my school.
- PaulOwen, on 04/04/2008, -0/+9And lots of people milling around doing nothing in particular.
- tinzy, on 04/04/2008, -0/+9It's a public Danish high school, so it's free.
- CAPITALLETTERS, on 04/04/2008, -3/+11So you want the whole operating computer market to be dominated by 1 company?
- pjkli, on 04/04/2008, -0/+8Nein is german for no, I think.
- Brian48216, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7it'd work in america if parents beat their children more often.
- inactive, on 04/04/2008, -0/+7Looks nice, I wonder if anyone learns there.
- NJank, on 04/04/2008, -1/+8and by free, you mean everyone pays for it. Including the free laptops.
- inactive, on 04/04/2008, -0/+6monk is funny. He thinks in his rosy colored world that if we're just nice to people they won't screw with you. That would be incorrect of course. Some kids are good and others are punks. While I don't want bars on the windows I do want the punks beat down when they get out of line.
- gbarberi, on 04/04/2008, -3/+8It's Denmark; it's socialized. Most of its education system -- including higher ed -- is free.
- inactive, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5Nope, just pointing out the hypocrisy of the "global community".
If you cant see that you must be blind, praise Denmark for an economy based on oil but bash the USA for using so much of it. - YourPal, on 04/04/2008, -2/+7Open concept schools represent and encourage a free flow of ideas and options.
Will the American school system adapt? - rockchops, on 04/04/2008, -3/+8bean bags are over-rated
- Jenadae, on 04/04/2008, -0/+5No.
- Catsmeat, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4Don't forget that digg is not only for Americans. There are many European diggers who can adopt this patriotic spirit of yours, and digg this article.
- inactive, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4I dont have a problem with Patriotism, the problem is that its OK for all countries except the USA.
Ive lived in several countries and travelled to many more, and nationalism is embraced in all of them.
But if an American waves a flag they are called necons. - inactive, on 04/04/2008, -1/+5For the folks that are going to post "they are better than us"
Its a constitutional monarchy and Welfare state.
income tax rates (minimum tax rate for adults is 42% scaling to over 60%
Also, The majority (91%) of Denmark’s population of just under 5.5 million is of Danish descent. its the size of Jersey and they are a homogeneous society. ie. stay out
Oh yeah, their economy, the reason they can afford those laptops is based on OIL, OIL, OIL. - amdforever, on 04/04/2008, -0/+4Check out the MIT Stata Center (computer science) and the MIT Simmons dormitory. They are amazing.

- ghm101, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3castration == "fix"
- imabird, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3IKEA is awful. Everything looks cool and modern, but it's terrible quality, as far as furniture goes. Also, no one should ever go on the weekends, it's like a mob scene.
- AF-Geek, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3Very nice design, but I don't care for the "open" classrooms. Ive seen a few of these (they were big in the US in the '70s), and the cross-chatter/distractions are very annoying to me. Others like them, so I guess it's just personal preference.
- abbelito, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3What? MrBabyman has time for school?!
- Lawrencesss, on 04/04/2008, -0/+3I wish you went to school. Maybe you would have learned what a duplicated submission was.
- CaptEnder, on 04/04/2008, -1/+4Hopefully you don't live in America. See, here we try to let people keep what they earn, rather than forcing them to fund lifestyles for those who chose not to work as hard. Before you get all bent out of shape about how downtrodden the poor are and the rich are greedy, selfish bastards, please note the USA has the highest charity rate of any nation in the world (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_charitab ... and http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-06-25-cha ... ). The use of the word "free" typically implies getting something for nothing, but rarely ever delivers. Their "free" school costs them in future taxes, which could be compared to student loans/debts. /steps down off of soapbox
- bliz, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2I'll be sleeping in school most of the time if it were my school. The pillows are just too inviting.
- xsidekick409, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2I would get zero work done.
- BobMysterioso, on 04/04/2008, -1/+3don't inject reality into digg! no!!!
- buddyw, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2I hear it's a pain in the ass to assemble.
- mejusthavin, on 04/04/2008, -1/+3Shouldn't we be more worried/interested in how they are educating the children of India and China? We should look at their laptop/beanbag-free sometimes outdoor pencil-to-paper uniform classrooms.
Isn't the problem with American schools today that there is too much freedom in the free system? We have rich white towns that have stunning architecture and city schools that operate look like the prisons the kids will end up in.
I don't see anything new here. School started as a communal experience and technology and bean bags in the classroom do not always equate better grades. In the US we have access to things like Montessori, Read 180 and money.
We need to clamp down on this commi-style. These hippies need to go back to where they never came from. - cawpin, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Not a ***** chance.
- azbmr, on 04/04/2008, -1/+3"Free" = everyone that pays taxes pays for it.
- Rahodeb, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Stop trying to crush their inner flower.
- arobar, on 04/04/2008, -1/+3Yeah, what a huge change that would be.
- theneb29, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2why do they have beany bags in place of chairs? I know i'll be sleeping before i get through the first page of my textbook.
- PJBovoNox, on 04/04/2008, -0/+2Why do you say 'we' as if we're all American? Just remember, most of the people in the world are not American.
