Pitzer's Masculinist Coalition's First Meeting: Full Video watch!
masculinists.org — Pitzer's Masculinist Coalition met for the first time and the whole experience (complete with Q&A) was captured on tape. There is a whopping hour of footage, split up into 3 separate clips, but I took the liberty of outlining highlights you don't want to miss. Part 3/3 is definitely worth your attention.

- tehstyles, on 03/09/2008, -15/+2I have a feeling that these men are just butthurt because no women would have sex with them
- sdm011, on 03/09/2008, -14/+4This is incredibly boring. More boring than real college. Why am I watching it now that I am free of college? How did it become 4:00 I feel like it should be 3:00
- badwithcomputer, on 03/09/2008, -1/+6if you're bored skip straight to the beginning of the third video.
- sdm011, on 03/09/2008, -12/+1This "group" he keeps talking about is a frillin' fraternity. Sounds like someone that didn't get into a frat so tried to make something different.
- badwithcomputer, on 03/09/2008, -0/+6this group is far from a fraternity and that issue is addressed somewhere in the 3 videos as well as in our original manifesto where we explain that there is no initiation process, no discrimination against who can attend (gender/race/sexual orientation/religion) and no fees. someone actually speaks about it in one of the videos and it's definitely worth your time to listen to what he has to say.
- sdm011, on 03/09/2008, -17/+2I'm sorry but this is not manly:
- tuntcickle, on 03/09/2008, -2/+20i got pretty sick of ladies in the video asking questions with the sole intent of making the meeting some kind of metaphysical/sexual repression discussion. if this is seriously what pitzer students have to deal with on a daily basis, call me masculinist, but that's awful
- LocalDocal, on 03/09/2008, -1/+8If this is what Pitzer students have to deal with? This is what men everywhere have to deal with. Try refusing your girlfriend's demands for marriage and watch how quickly she starts suggesting you may be secretly homosexual or that you have a ulterior sexual issue with your mother.
- Rikkochet, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1Dude, turn around and find a new girlfriend NOW.

- schizogony, on 03/09/2008, -8/+2Oh.
- CriX, on 03/09/2008, -0/+18I wish these guys would say: We feel that there is a lot of sexism directed towards men.
The fact that there is such uproar (as seen in the videos) about men celebrating their masculinity is pure sexism. I understand the controversy because it seems that being a male already endows one with advantages in many aspects of society and therefore the premise behind the club seems a little masturbatory. But a heterosexual man should not feel guilty for not being homosexual or a minority or some other discriminated group. That said, I understand the desire for such a club IN THEORY, however I don't think I would ever participate. - Vajrapani, on 03/09/2008, -0/+10Oh hey, Masculism as a Sociological movement has nothing to do with restricting women from voting.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masculanism- badwithcomputer, on 03/09/2008, -0/+4urban dictionary also has a pretty solid definition: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=mas ...
- Hananda, on 03/09/2008, -0/+6I can't believe the Q&A was as civil as it was. Lot of angry folks who couldn't wait to get their piece in. As has been noted, I fail to see the purpose in stating an opinion and then walking out. That's no way to exchange ideas.
- springhell, on 03/09/2008, -0/+9As a feminist at a super-liberal college, I think this is awesome. I watched part 3 of the meeting and I think the debate against the group takes everything all wrong. What is wrong with people forming an identity and being proud of that identity, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else? When we start allowing males to question and form what being male means to them, we can move away from the stereotypes and redefine what masculinity means, probably congruous with a society that is much more pro-female, pro-queer, and pro-whoever-the-*****-you-are, because men will be much more in-tune with themselves and their role in relation to everyone else. As much power as men have in our culture, they are so stagnated from being true to themselves and deciding what it means to be men to them. Maybe when they are given that freedom, the true issues can break through, placating feminists and the like. This is great.
Then again, maybe I'm looking at this all wrong. Are masculinists asking the right questions? Can a careful interpretation of oneself and one's identity be a catalyst for revelation and change? I can dream, right?- curtislaycraft, on 03/09/2008, -0/+0I think the lack of gender identity leaves men insecure and disconnected.
I'm sure as a group experiences the joys and happiness of close friendships amongst men, they will begin to connect on a more emotional level.
Which is something media and institution seems to try to disconnect from male identity.
It is sad that when you mention a male dancer in North America, people disconnect it from masculinity.
- curtislaycraft, on 03/09/2008, -0/+0I think the lack of gender identity leaves men insecure and disconnected.
- idiopathogen, on 03/09/2008, -0/+12 Now the victims are exposed and coming out of the woodwork to express their discontent. Mark them, and never hire them. Placing hetero men as another victim class needing a special group is a great twist that puts everyone in the same place, and the victims hate it. This group will clearly exposes the gay/feminist/etc classes of folks that want to stand on their own merit vs the ones that want to celebrate their victim status. Nice. This group will definitely separate the men from the boys (this is not meant to be gender specific, but an expression of maturity). So all you gay and female students that think nothing of this group, you're gold, and will go far. The rest of you self-occupied victims, stay off drugs and stay in school. You still have a lot to learn about life.

- teamr, on 03/09/2008, -1/+3I am man, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again!! - Elderon, on 03/09/2008, -0/+7Ok I'm tired and I admit I only watched the 3/3 video, but WTF is the problem with these women? They are pissed off about the name of the group? who the ***** cares?! i mean there are plenty of feminist groups why is there such a problem with men having a club?
- Hananda, on 03/09/2008, -0/+4Seems to me that they lack any real argument against the group, so they're using the name as an excuse to talk in a loud and irritating manner. And really, what argument can one level against this groups in terms of its existence or right to funding? For the life of me I can't figure out what the group intends to do to further its goals, but it doesn't seem to infringe on anyone else's rights/property/organization. According to my admittedly almost totally absent understanding of the organization funding policy of Pitzer University, those women don't have a case.

- pitdog, on 03/09/2008, -2/+5Holy ***** are those bitches annoying or what. I watched part3 and those girls seemed really sexist, and not to put too fine a point on it... stupid. If they cannot even comprehend a true meaning of a simple single word or bring themselves to tolerate fellow humans having their own opinions...
On a more serious note - how do those girls look like, are they typical unattractive activist types? lol - jessetessej, on 03/09/2008, -0/+3Those are some manly ***** windchimes bro!
- ImIce, on 03/09/2008, -0/+3Don't you think that, like, being a man marginalizes all groups who aren't, like, men, or like men, or who are like different than who, like, you, like are, like? Let's like talk about like that because, like, I'm so down with like.
- curtislaycraft, on 03/09/2008, -0/+5I think the term masculine is usually associated with misogyny and stereotype.
It is unfortunate many people in the video do not understand that masculinity is an inherent biological trait.
Power to that group. I applied for student loans once, and I found that there is much more bursaries and funding available for women.
I was disappointed that my gender put me into a disadvantage. (also being white and of no cultural group.)
I have also been fired from a cosmetics store after revealing that I am straight: the other (female) sales staff "couldn't trust me anymore".
Just because I hold masculine heterosexual values does not mean I lack moral integrity. - ghettofobulous, on 03/09/2008, -0/+3I hate the girls who try judge the group by their definition of masculinist.
We can take back the word. - Jaliyl, on 03/09/2008, -0/+10I can't believe how long they put up with those women for. And since when has Masculism/Masculinism had a negative connotation? It has never been about restricting women from voting or saying they should be in the kitchen, it is about men's rights and issues affecting men.
Masculists/Masculinists address areas where men are disadvantaged, such as divorce and custody, health, criminal prosecution and sentencing. Just like feminists address areas they believe women to be disadvantaged, like equal pay and job opportunities. - xenixninja, on 03/09/2008, -1/+1Great. Fighting fire with fire is not always a good solution.
We will have gender equality when we stop focusing on the gender. If we continuously struggle to fight for the right for one gender to get "respected", we will just end up passing the ball back and forth.- waynetheman, on 03/10/2008, -0/+1But at some point, someone has to point out that the whole thing is really a farce. That seems to be one of the points of this group.
Granted, if it's still in existence 5 years down the road, we may have a little problem on our hands....
- waynetheman, on 03/10/2008, -0/+1But at some point, someone has to point out that the whole thing is really a farce. That seems to be one of the points of this group.
- anonydigg, on 03/09/2008, -2/+1This club is not what the name implies. It's about sports and drinking more than it is about representing men. Which is fine. Men don't need a movement. They run this world :)
