- deathsythe, on 09/14/2008, -9/+17I really like ontheissues, been using them for a while now - too bad Democrats don't listen to facts and figures any way.
If Senator Sanders from Vermont can call him a socialist- then its pretty blatant.
Also- here's another table of figures for ya:

- buddywlkr3, on 09/14/2008, -11/+21Facts and statistics like these are not the type of thing that appeals to the Democrats. They know that they cannot run on the record of Obama because he has done nothing of significance. Instead, they like to run on fables: Obama was a community organizer; he will bring about change; he is our hope. Details? Why, there are none. Therefore, this article will be shunned by the liberal base on Digg, and they will continue to rush to articles smearing Palin or McCain. Maybe the next big article will be that McCain has never eaten in a Harlem restaurant.
- SmartfulDodger, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1Democrats aren't stupid people, buddy - and we aren't running on fables either. Have you read Obama's plan for America? It's 50 pages of policy available at www.barakobama.com/issues
History has proven that experience in government is not the most important factor in making a great leader. A great leader needs intelligence, a level head, logic, insight - and these are all factors which Obama brings to the table.

Obama Biden - onthetrail, on 09/16/2008, -6/+4yes when he says he is pretty simple deduction.
- skmckinny, on 09/18/2008, -10/+6Obama is #1 left; Biden is #3 left. (I think it is Kennedy who is #2 left).
McCain is #46 or #48 right. i.e., very moderate/centrist. - Hillarysmygirl, on 09/18/2008, -4/+6This year we have a choice between the Ultra Right and the Ultra Left. How about both Parties giving us Moderates. I am a Democrat who is Moderate and will never vote for a Liberal over a Moderate like McCain. Roe vs Wade is a dead issue for me as it is established law. Now it's time for both Parties to stop giving us choices of only an Ultra Right or Ultra Left. It's time we have more moderate candidates.
- thepoliticalcat, on 09/22/2008, -0/+1You're very sadly mistaken if you think Roe v. Wade cannot be overturned. McCain has promised that he will appoint judges who will overturn it, and you'd better believe him. That aside, seeing that you have a choice between McCain and Obama, think hard about which one will be able to pull the country out of a hideous financial morass that will destroy your retirement, your savings, your home ownership, and probably your children in multiple wars on multiple fronts. Please. Think of your country before you vote.
- SmartfulDodger, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1McCain has made this promise, as has every Republican politician since Roe v. Wade became a law. How much progress has been made since then? Republicans controlled all 3 branches of government for 6 years....why wasn't it overturned then?
And as of who will be able to pull our country out of the financial crisis we're in, economists favor Obama 2:1. On top of that, McCain has yet to offer any substantial plan for our economy. So please, think of your country and not your old party before you vote.

- psy333che, on 09/18/2008, -2/+8You people need to place titkes which do not ever represent a person in the way that they really are..Obama has always stated that he is for the people and that is what made him run FOR THE PEOPLE
Now if in your eyes a person who cares about people and how the other party is only for corporations and the very rich the I guess thatis who he is....
You look at our economy and how the republicans have mishandled everything along with getting us into a war that was really about oil and a son's Agenda with his father...not for the people..for himself
We do not need to bring labels here..Lets just use the facts
McCain and Bush lie to get what they want and they both are out of touch with what is going on in the world.... We are sinking and all you need to do is look at businesses crumbling because of white collar crime that has been allowed to run wild under The Republicans
Lets just talk about issues and stop showing your racist views..
We have really sever problems and name calling is not going to help
All I am hearing here are individuals who have nothing to offer but their ignorance and hate - psy333che, on 09/18/2008, -1/+6 Obama is not a socialist.. He is a christian and believes in a democracy by the people and for the people and that is the simple truth
You have picked an article to try to sway individuals by labeling a person.. There is plenty at this site that I could put up to show what a mess the Republicans have made of our Economy... The War.... Our International Standing... I could just go on and on.. Its hard to look at anything without seeing how McCain and bush have lied for the group that have their own aganda - paintgrl, on 09/18/2008, -1/+7liberalism

I am glad I am a Liberal and a centrist. - GardenRetreat, on 09/18/2008, -1/+6I think it is important to understand that labels are just that. A person should not labeled. I am actually a conservative Democrat yet I am still inspired by Barcak even though I do not agree with all that he stands for. I believe that his heart is where it should be and with the balance of the US Congress he will not be able to do anything extremely liberal.. Maybe I am disillusioned but at this point after watching presidents that are closer to my conservative views run this country and ruin many things I am willing to give another person a chance.. I am tired of being disappointed by moderates or conservatives. It is time for someone who really seems to care about the people be given a chance. I am willing to give him a chance. I have given others a chance
- insertcleverid, on 09/18/2008, -1/+6Many of the posts here seem to take this article as evidence that a Liberal Barack is a bad candidate. The idea that liberalism is inherently bad is a fallacy. So is (I can hardly believe I'm saying this) assuming that conservatism is always bad (although I'm currently at a loss for an example of a good conservative idea...oh yeah, Local Government!)
This country has been run by very conservative administrations for three decades, ad we've seen quite clearly a decline in real wages, social mobility, the size of the middle class, and increases in the national debt, inflation and income inequality.
Its time for a liberal. Its time for new ideas. Its time for change.
Here's some more data for all you guys who think Democrats don't like facts:

- thepoliticalcat, on 09/22/2008, -0/+2For those of you who keep reiterating that Obama is a hard-core liberal -- pray, explain to me if you can, just what is wrong with being a liberal of any core? Liberals instituted laws against child labour, worked to free the slaves and give women the right to vote, own property, and decide their own fate. Liberals fight for world peace, against child abuse and domestic violence. Liberals want economic and social justice rather than poorhouses, orphanages, and debtors' prisons. I fail to see anything morally reprehensible about that. When you compare that to what the Republicans appear to want -- unbridled greed, the unashamed looting of taxpayer funds, refusal of basic services to workers, women, children, whether health care or the right to unionize or labour laws or the right to decide their own bodily autonomy - I really fail to see why Liberalism is scorned and excoriated.
- SmartfulDodger, on 09/23/2008, -0/+1"If by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people-their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties-someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal', then I'm proud to say that I'm a 'Liberal.'" - John F. Kennedy
