- Yankidank, on 12/19/2007, -0/+40This can only give off enough light to let you see 6 inches in front of the camera.
- unloud, on 12/19/2007, -1/+24***** you. :-(
- CheesyPeteza, on 12/19/2007, -0/+20I've done this before, and it was next to useless as it gives off so little light. See how close he had to get to see anything?
What you need is a proper filament light with a filter on the front to block all the light except infra red. - hoopajoo, on 12/19/2007, -3/+16So easy, even a caveman could do it!
- Chordinator, on 12/19/2007, -1/+13You sure as ***** CAN, though.
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -2/+13excellent mod.....why?...because even "I" can do it.
- ozid, on 12/19/2007, -1/+9In what situation would it be better to use your ghetto rigged night vision camera than it would be to use an actual flashlight? I'm sure you could buy a video camera like the one I have in my closet off of ebay for less than 100 bucks and I can at least see 30 feet with the "night vision".
- alby13, on 12/19/2007, -1/+9haha wtf
- JT114881, on 12/19/2007, -0/+810$? I assume that doesn't include the camera which is necessary...
- sapo916, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6Who cares?
- FishHammer, on 12/19/2007, -1/+7isnt a flashlight already nightvision?
- theholyraptor, on 04/07/2008, -1/+7your neighbor takes showers in the dark? having night vision doesn't some how magically place your camera hidden inside their bathroom.
- aladrin, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6I'd guess it also doesn't include the remote, the soldering iron, the voltmeter or the snips. This is quite a bit more than $10. I'm about sick of people saying 'cheap hack' when what they really mean is that you can destroy things you've got sitting around the house instead of buying something. If you can't do it over and over for $10, it's not a $10 hack.
- stevenscorsese, on 12/19/2007, -2/+7cool - now every time i use the remote, i film my neighbor taking a shower
- marvy, on 12/19/2007, -1/+6dugg for the porn soundtrack.
- theshiz892, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5this seems pointless as most cameras today come with IR LEDs and an IR camera
- blindflacker, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3Wal-mart as well as many gas stations sell a 3 infrared baseball cap clip on light for $10. You can also purchase the LED's online so you don't have to rip apart a remote.
- SilverBack101, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2Great soft porn music to go along with the new up to date voyeurism tech.
- diggydougie, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2You can also buy new ones at radio shack.
- funkytaco, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2I was in the Army and the humvees had these little infrared lights on the front that emitted very little night but were amazingly bright with night vision; enough to see the road at 5mph. So I believe if you used this as an infrared flashlight with night vision goggles you'd be set to prowl around in the dark.
- Cowfrommars, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
- phibit, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Can somebody tell me how the camcorder detects IR light please? And then displays it as visible light?
I'm confused... Wouldn't you need an IR detector that mapped the signal down to visible light? - inactive, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1*****
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtN_u0TasNQ - JoCliMe, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2It's not as easy as it looks, well it is using THAT flashlight. Many others don't make it easy to get to the LEDs or change them. I've tried this before (for different reasons) and have gone through quite a lot of flashlights (I love flashlights though so it all works out fine)
- screensnot, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1I think he was trying to say that it would be bad for your scissors, not that you risk electrocution.
- blkvelvetmonkey, on 12/19/2007, -4/+5This is pretty freakin' cool!
- diggydougie, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Or you could just buy one of those security cameras which have dozens of IR LEDs, and work great.
- theholyraptor, on 04/07/2008, -0/+1well, we know nothing in that circuit could do any damage by cutting wires with scissors so it doesn't really matter. The video is for the nontechnical. Just don't go cutting AC power cords with scissors or running with them. (I'm sure someone will comment about DC being able to kill too but then I'd have to list way to many conditions and it's 3am and I should be sleeping or studying for finals. Damn you digg.)
- mydave, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0so easy and pretty good!

- Etherium, on 12/19/2007, -1/+0(Karate Movie Accent) YOU SUCK! HIIIIYAAAAA!
- Etherium, on 12/19/2007, -1/+0I'm not sure why you think it's lame that your video camera has night vision built in...?
- Etherium, on 12/19/2007, -1/+0Isn't a night vision flashlight still visible during the day?
- Dreamscar, on 12/19/2007, -8/+6now lets blend it
- abreinig, on 12/19/2007, -5/+2when does it show you how to make a hand crank for this bad boy.......
- loup226, on 12/19/2007, -6/+3hiaaa good
- CaptainAm3rica, on 12/19/2007, -6/+3My video camera has IR night vision built in, lame...
- adragontattoo, on 12/19/2007, -5/+1lets see the 2 military grade night vision scopes I have work better then this and they were free.
The Hi-8 Handycam I have from 99 works better then this and it cost me 5 bucks.
I could spend less then 10 bucks and have an array of IR emitters that would work better then this and I would still have a functional remote too via ebay, some scrap plastic and an extra handycam battery. - JasonCox, on 12/19/2007, -6/+1Is this like the video that said an AAA battery could run my TV? If so I'm going to bury it as 'doesnt work'.
- flxfxp, on 12/19/2007, -8/+3Buried for "hack"
- Xerces, on 12/19/2007, -8/+2dugg for a well put together simple video.2girls1cup-ish music could be better though
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -8/+232 comments and no Paris Hilton remarks... I'm kinda proud of you guys...
- greenday1209, on 12/19/2007, -7/+1would you please stop calling this "hack"?? still pretty cool..
- obnauticus, on 12/19/2007, -15/+8That's no hack, that's common sense.
Buried. - cactus476, on 12/19/2007, -11/+4Grr, you don't cut wires with a pair of scissors and you don't use electrical tape for general purpose jobs.
