- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -71/+529It'd be a good time to start carrying pork-rinds around campus, and offer them to anyone you meet. Since it's not politically correct to "profile", offer them to eveybody, especially those in the meditation room. It'd be rude not to offer.
It works on airlines, too........ - jkbowman, on 12/18/2007, -20/+422...a 9,200-student "public institution"
Room needs to go. It's that simple. - vault, on 12/18/2007, -21/+359FTA: "[T]he Jews and the Christians" are described as "the enemies of Allaah's religion." The document adds: "Remember that you will never succeed while you follow these people."
and this is at a community college no less? unbelievable. - 309east, on 12/18/2007, -24/+293Wow.
I think a group of female students needs to go in there quite often and be sure to be uncovered, speak loud enough to be heard, and not stay in the small cordoned off area for women. Show these folks what gender equality means. - kayfouroh, on 12/18/2007, -14/+269My (private) college just instated a "Muslim Prayer Area". We do not have any other religious rooms, such as a church, temple, etc.
I am not religious but this is just a smack in the face to everyone who is. - VeryBoredNow, on 12/18/2007, -103/+342"[T]he Jews and the Christians" are described as "the enemies of Allaah's religion." The document adds: "Remember that you will never succeed while you follow these people."
This was either made up by the writer (who doesn't even know how to spell ISLAM) or by some pissed of extremist because the Quran teaches the opposite. It teaches to respect other religions.
I am a muslim and if someone offered me ANY pork products, which, by the way happens quite a bit with co-workers and friends I would just say "no thanks". It wouldn't even offend me a bit. I would probably laugh at someone trying to use a bacon strip to teach me a lesson. - inactive, on 12/18/2007, -75/+297Is anyone beginning to understand how the excesses of the Crusades and the Reconquista happened?
- hinduguy, on 12/18/2007, -44/+223You guys must have read a very different Qur'an. Here are just a few verses from it showing their "respect for other religions"
Qur’an 3:56 “As for those disbelieving infidels, I will punish them with a terrible agony in this world and the next. They have no one to help or save them.”
Qur’an 5:51 “Muslims, do not make friends with any but your own people.”
Qur’an 5:72 “They are surely infidels who say; ‘God is the Christ, the Messiah, the son of Mary.”
Qur’an 8:12 cp. 8:60 “Instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers”; “smite above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them”
Qur’an 2:191 “...kill the disbelievers wherever we find them”
Qur’an 2:193 “And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah”
Qur’an 22:19-22 “fight and slay the Pagans, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem” “for them (the unbelievers) garments of fire shall be cut and there shall be poured over their heads boiling water whereby whatever is in their bowels and skin shall be dissolved and they will be punished with hooked iron rods”
Qur’an 48:13 Those who “believe not in Allah and His Messenger, He has prepared, for those who reject Allah, a Blazing Fire!”
Qur’an 8:12 “Your Lord inspired the angels with the message: ‘I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes.”
Qur’an 8:7 “Allah wished to confirm the truth by His words: ‘Wipe the infidels (non-Muslims) out to the last.’”
Qur’an 8:39 “So, fight them till all opposition ends and the only religion is Islam.”
Qur’an 8:59 “The infidels should not think that they can get away from us. Prepare against them whatever arms and weaponry you can muster so that you may terrorize them. They are your enemy and Allah’s enemy.”
Qur’an 8:60 “Prepare against them (non-Muslims) whatever arms and cavalry you can muster that you may strike terror in the enemies of Allah (non-Muslims), and others besides them not known to you. Whatever you spend in Allah’s Cause will be repaid in full, and no wrong will be done to you.”
Qur’an 8:7 “Allah wished to confirm the truth by His words: ‘Wipe the infidels (non-Muslims) out to the last.’”
Qur’an 4:101 “The unbelievers (non-Muslims) are your inveterate foe.” - Frei, on 12/18/2007, -7/+180Operation Pork Shield
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -45/+213Better and more effective to scatter those pork rinds all over the meditation room ;)
- noahhoward, on 12/18/2007, -18/+174"because the Quran teaches the opposite. It teaches to respect other religions."
The Quran is a book, there are Muslims who preach the exact opposite; the term infidel comes to mind. You can say those aren't true Muslims but it carries about as much weight as a Catholic saying a child-raping bishop isn't a true Catholic, the fact remains that those people exist and have a following and the fact remains that they reflect poorly on you all. - tas08, on 12/18/2007, -13/+167Reminds me of a solution to bus bombings I heard. Keep some pork on the bus, if a terrorist wants to blow up the bus he's risking defiling his body with pork as the explosion blows it all over the place and sending himself to hell.
- bowens44, on 12/18/2007, -35/+189All religion needs to be banned from all public facilities
- blackmage439, on 12/18/2007, -11/+129'And the literature regarding Jews and Christians? "I would probably take it out if I knew it was in there," said Anderson.'
Apparently, as Dean of STUDENT Affairs, you're not doing your job, sir. If you do not notice a blatant attack on other religions within your own school, you have failed in life, your job, and whatever mission for student achievement you believe in. You disgust me, Mr. Anderson. You and every other person willing to sell this country to the very forces that seek to subvert it. - inactive, on 12/18/2007, -25/+142If we dont stand up now we will end up like the Dutch.
- combatchuck, on 12/18/2007, -13/+126Agreed. Public funds means no religion.
- BoneheadFarker, on 12/18/2007, -6/+117No...leave the room as a meditation area. What *should* be done is every woman in the school should go in there everyday to meditate during those 5 daily prayers. In the "men's area". If it's open to everyone, there should be no problems...
- markgl, on 12/18/2007, -27/+129Come on diggers, you talk of free speech and bash religion all the time. whats stopping you now??? You rip the Christians a new one everyday, let me see your best shots about this oppression against women and against other religions.
- alexforcefive, on 12/18/2007, -1/+95Doesn't sex-segregation present a constitutional problem in a public educational institution? "I don't want to comment on that," he said. (He then looked away and mumbled "becauseImightgetfired...")
- roosterjm2k2, on 12/18/2007, -12/+102Well... the desire to remove religion from public service only goes as far as christianity/catholicism. Its far too politically incorrect to do the same for muslims.
I say take them all out, religion doesnt belong period, regardless of which ignorance you chose to follow. - protogenxl, on 12/18/2007, -10/+99Well quit your bitching get some Shaolin Monks in there and kick some ass.
- DryMaltExtract, on 12/18/2007, -16/+95I think the muslims wanted to take over one of my university's gyms because the prayer room was too small. (it was for every faith). They bitched, my university told them to ***** off because it's secular.
- thanakar, on 12/18/2007, -35/+114The same Qoran teaches that should a Muslim convert to a another religion that person should be killed. Islam is a religion of intolerance, anyone not of the faith is considered inferior.
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -20/+99So Muslims never translate the Koran differently? Maybe you should go over to the Middle East and explain this to the gangs of guys who cut off 60 womens heads in Iraq for dressing immorally this year. Or the christian school kids who get stoned in Africa. Or the italian tourists who are beaten to death near Morocco for not following muslim traditions.
- robberry, on 12/18/2007, -25/+101Buried for inaccuracy. The ACLU has a long history of standing up for the Constitution even when doing so is not popular or politically correct.
- thinman1189, on 12/18/2007, -17/+89As much as I'd hate to admit it but I don't think they can do that. Quite simply the segregation of women in the room is illegal and has to be stopped. I'm not racist and think we're a Christian nation and the Muslims need to convert, hell I'm not religious at all. The fact of the matter is that people fought long and hard in this country to prevent segregation and we can't allow it to start up again, under any circumstances. I don't care what your religion is, this is America and in this melting pot that is our country when you come here you melt and part of that melting is that everyone is equal.
- tman84, on 12/18/2007, -18/+89for how Muslims affect a nation's culture read: Paris, France. It's the same in Brooklyn. they do not assimilate, they alienate.
- GreenGrassyNoel, on 12/18/2007, -7/+72naked
- brbeaird, on 12/18/2007, -41/+104Too bad it wasn't a Christian prayer room. This would make front page. I haven't read my daily dose of diggers arguing over what an atheist actually is and how awesome it is living in reality.
- brown2hm, on 12/18/2007, -9/+69I think he's actually saying the opposite of that.

- blackbeardtron, on 12/18/2007, -6/+62"All those wars your forefathers fought for independence & freedom" were to protect the rights of individuals to live whatever life they wish. This includes religious freedom.
This case isn't about the fact that they're Muslim. It's about the fact that they're using a public space and showing a bias towards a particular religion, while neglecting others. - rockinjoe, on 12/18/2007, -5/+57I wonder what would happen if I left my teddy bear in the meditation room?
- guntario, on 12/18/2007, -7/+56Nothing coming from Muslims is considered hate speech, apparently.
- eryximachus, on 12/18/2007, -19/+68The crusades were genocide? The people of the Iberian Peninsula liberating their lands from foreign occupation and oppression was genocide?
Me thinks you do not understand the hearts of men. I hope peace and prosperity is the rule in your lifetime; you are unfit for battle. - chookalana, on 12/18/2007, -20/+68I know Normandale College. I live in Minnesota, and I am sickened by this. I hope their enrollment plummets. All because they want to cater to these hate mongers.
- tas08, on 12/18/2007, -18/+66No, he's actually saying, can you begin to at least understand why some of the bad things that happened happened. Understanding why doesn't mean agreeing with.
The crusades I don't believe were wrong on principle, they were Christian Holy Lands first and the Muslims took them, but I cannot condone or deny that bad people got involved and did terrible things as often happens. Many of the people involved were good people.
Bad people do terrible things in politics, but do we say politics is in and of itself evil? Maybe not the best example but I hope you understand the point. - rlh1, on 12/18/2007, -9/+55I do believe that they were tolerant as long as the non-muslims knew their place and accepted a lesser position in society. You don't conquer all of North Africa, the Middle East, Spain, Sicily, etc etc etc in about 100 years without being ruthless.....You don't hold these regions without a heavy hand.
- davewashere, on 12/18/2007, -10/+55Didn't the ACLU stand up for Rush Limbaugh when he was being charged for his little pill problem? The ACLU understands that the Constitution needs to be applied at all times, even when it is not popular. I would guess that the majority of Americans don't understand this and give in to the herd mentality.
- waynemr, on 12/18/2007, -6/+49Isn't that considered hate speech and *not* protected under the 1st Amendment?
- blackbeardtron, on 12/18/2007, -34/+77Exactly. I HATE it when people lump all Muslims into one group. A sect of extremists are giving everyone else a bad name. I'm not Muslim, but it just pisses me off how intolerant and ignorant people can be.
- Sorvan, on 12/18/2007, -31/+74Many Islamic states before the crusades were noted for their religious tolerance towards Jews and Christians and in these states, all three religions lived in peace together (all three religions follow the God of Abraham). The crusades were a huge money/power grab where leaders used religion to justify their actions. Certainly there were many who truly believed in their religious cause, but that doesn't explain supposedly Christian armies who never got to the Holy Lands but instead went around murdering other Christians and taking their property.
- id10tjoeuser, on 12/18/2007, -6/+47What they are doing is incorrect by Islam. In Islam, Jewish and Christian faiths are not to be disturbed. Please understand this is how a nation dissolves via segregation. The people at this campus are shia wackos, the things on the walls are not commandments given by the prophet, but are traditions open to interpretation - similar to more radical life perspectives of Christianity like the Pentecostals or Mennonites. I'm not saying any of its wrong or right, but we have to understand where they are coming from. Some freaky Muslims really think they own America and the rest of the world, and will take it if given the opportunity. Let them or not, its up to you. I dont cower to those with weak faith - I dont need a room and a box in Mecca to know my Maker and The Prophet (peace be upon him) I think would agree with me. But I could be wrong, its just a matter of opinion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_of_the_Book - inactive, on 12/18/2007, -12/+53Dman straight, where are obnoxious feminists when you need them? Probably out protesting the waterboarding of terrorists with code pink...
- unorginalityftw, on 12/18/2007, -11/+52I believe they were responses to Islam invading Europe, particularly up Iberia. (Spain and Portugal.)
- inactive, on 12/18/2007, -10/+50The Dutch are now a minority in their own country. They censor their newspapers and national artwork so as not to offend muslim immigrants. Their film makers are murdered for offending Islam. And still they keep welcoming in more, why? Because it's their tradition to be open to other cultures. ...even those who are not open to Dutch tradition.
- jsg7, on 12/18/2007, -0/+38Actually, public funds means not favoring one religion over any other. There is nothing wrong with creating space that all religions can share equally. But obviously some changes need to made in this case...
- epalla, on 12/18/2007, -7/+45There's no way you can say whether the author made that up or not. I personally know of Muslims who most definitely consider Christians and Jews to be their enemies and are not short of quotations from the Quran to back up their assertions.
- DavidGX, on 12/18/2007, -6/+44Hmm, good idea. Maybe keep copies of the kuran along with pork on the busses. I doubt they'd want to destroy the kuran AND cover themselves with pork.
