- Deliguy, on 01/29/2009, -19/+763The constitution very clearly makes the legalization, taxation, and restrictions of substances like marijuana a state matter NOT a federal matter. I don't smoke weed but its still my responsibility to help protect the freedoms of people who do.
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -54/+609Legalize NOW.
- amy31415, on 01/29/2009, -14/+347Great ad, now it just needs to get on TV.
We Americans need to realize that we are not going to be dictated to, we are the most powerful branch of the government and we need to get with the program and start acting like it.
I have had enough of feeling/being powerless and being around others who feel powerless. I have had enough of the "liberals" who accept the bondage of others and continue to pay into the system. I have had enough of the "conservatives" who promote the expansion of government into their own personal lives and pay for it.
When will we, the people, wake up and take charge of our own lives, of our own government? We are responsible for allowing the "war on drugs" to continue, we the people are responsible for every person jailed for this *****.
I don't even choose to smoke pot, but I recognize my own responsibility in such matters. How is it possible that a PLANT is outlawed? - loveforkarma, on 01/29/2009, -9/+229This needs to be a Superbowl Ad.
- WhiskeyWrites, on 01/29/2009, -19/+232Wow, very well made. Hopefully it gets some mainstream exposure.
- pitchblack16, on 01/29/2009, -18/+174I genuinely enjoyed this video. Gave me goosebumps and all. Putting non-violent criminals in jail is a definite waste of taxpayer money, especially when jails are overcrowded. Good submission Poet.
- FearisFailure, on 01/29/2009, -17/+167Legalize it tax the crap out of it and we will get out the recession.
- RansomHoldiay, on 01/29/2009, -10/+139yes weed can!
- DaDiggydiggyDOC, on 01/29/2009, -8/+136It time we stop giving drug dealers power/money and remove them from the equation all together!!!
If we can handle alcohol, we can live with cannabis IMO!! - Frankyfan3, on 01/29/2009, -19/+131It made me cry.
The institution of prohibition is just so tragic.
I was listening to the author of "Sex Trafficking: Inside the Business of Modern Slavery", Siddharth Kara on NPR today and in the midst of talking about the economic and legal changes which we need to implement in order to stem the tide of slavery around the world, he mentioned that the US spends $300,000 more dollars on the "war on drugs" than we spend on combating the institution of human trafficking.
This is disgusting, and I really hope the public is open to listening to rationality. - lostsymphonies1, on 01/29/2009, -5/+113There show on A&E called "Intervention", I think there are almost 100 episodes, NOT ONE SINGLE EPISODE is there someone who has an addiction to marijuana. not one. On the contrary, almost every single episode has an alcoholic who has basically torn their family apart, near death and homeless. It's a good thing alcohol is legal and marijuana isn't, I mean, we wouldn't want people feeling good and getting the munchies now would we.
- JoeParanoid, on 01/29/2009, -16/+122This could provide a new source of tax revenue. Next we should legalize prostitution and require regular STD testing for sex workers.
- bigfinger, on 01/29/2009, -10/+106that could fix a whole lot of tax problems, also snack food stocks would skyrocket!
- extraqueso, on 01/29/2009, -8/+100There Will Be Bud
- baseballdude, on 01/29/2009, -8/+95pft, I don't do drugs, but I don't see why we don't legalize it. Not to mention, making it legal would take away the "thrill" for many.
- dball48, on 01/29/2009, -13/+91*cough* Ron Paul *cough*
- sulayman, on 01/29/2009, -6/+81Yes We Cannabis.
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -2/+75Is it "retarded" for someone on chemo to smoke a joint to battle the nausea so they can eat and prolong the quality and length of their life? I think some of your hobbies are retarded, so I'm criminalizing them. It is now illegal to be a self-righteous piece of *****, dss7282, you're under arrest.
- rwallen, on 01/29/2009, -11/+82The I HAVE CANCER part just seemed to stand out.
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -3/+69Please legalize it. This ***** is getting ridiculous. Our jails are overcrowded, our money is being wasted. The only people that are against legalizing it have never tried it.
- kemp34, on 01/29/2009, -4/+62Let's say an individual decides to grow a few plants in his/her own backyard for whatever personal consumption they decide to partake in. Please explain to me how the ***** these clauses give the federal government any authority whatsoever to have anything to do with that activity?
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -3/+59I totally imagined you saying this with some flutes playing, and an American flag behind you.
- alapoet, on 01/29/2009, -2/+57“It always seems impossible until it's done.” ~ Nelson Mandela
- ViolentVirtue, on 01/29/2009, -2/+56FACT: More people were killed in Black Friday sales last year than by marijuana.
- choopie911, on 01/29/2009, -6/+60As someone else already said, lets get this the Colbert bump.
- stonebone4, on 01/29/2009, -0/+50People make liquor and beer in their basements. Also, I grew up on a tobacco farm.
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -10/+58I think the only way this can be brought to mainstream attention is through "The Daily Show" or "Colbert Report"....
Jon and Steve, MAKE IT HAPPEN! - twiztidsinz, on 01/29/2009, -0/+45das7282, are you also against alcohol and tobacco?
Why should YOUR opinion on a subject effect MY freedoms when my actions have no relation to you and neither cause harm to, nor interfere with the rights and freedoms of others? - angelgabe, on 01/29/2009, -2/+44Yes we Cannabis!
- NikoKun, on 01/29/2009, -4/+44No... It's just that the smart "dope" smokers out there, would never admit to using it, to someone like you.
You probably know plenty of them, but just don't realize they smoke. - arizona01, on 01/29/2009, -1/+39Vending machines will be in greater demand, people needed to operate these machines will rise, jobs will be created, less people will go hungry, its a win win situation all around.
- Frankyfan3, on 01/29/2009, -3/+41He also mentioned that the economic and legal ramifications can be drastically more harsh for trafficking drugs than selling and trading people.
I just can't express my outrage fully with words. - BoneheadFarker, on 01/29/2009, -1/+39Real smokers? You mean like me and all the IT geeks I work with?
- MWeather, on 01/29/2009, -0/+37It's on parchment. The drafts were done on hemp.
- boheme, on 01/29/2009, -4/+39You either don't have many friends, or your friends are afraid to be honest with you because you are overly judgmental.
- ParasyteStuie, on 01/29/2009, -1/+35The "real smoker" is anyone. More people smoke than you think.
- RansomHoldiay, on 01/29/2009, -8/+42my friend got a 1570 on the SAT. he's smokes a lot. i will introduce you sometime.
- serif69, on 01/29/2009, -4/+38Marijuana is not a drug! I used to suck dick for coke! (I SAW HIM!) Now that's an addiction. You ever suck some dick for marijuana?
- twiztidsinz, on 01/29/2009, -3/+36"I have yet to meet a dope smoker who wasn't a moron."
Read: "I am a very sheltered and naive person." - diggydougie, on 01/29/2009, -5/+37It's important to make the pro legalization ads look just like the anti-drug propaganda. It takes the wind out of their sails. And also get them on the TV where the old conservatives watch.
- ramzavala, on 01/29/2009, -2/+3460 million bucks to get this in the Superbowl commercials, I got $5 on it.
- MooseOfReason, on 01/29/2009, -3/+35Yes we can!
- MWeather, on 01/29/2009, -0/+31So you either want tobacco to be illegal, or don't think smoking cigarettes is retarded. Which is it?
- petebot, on 01/29/2009, -2/+32You ever looked on a dollar bill, man? There's some ***** up ***** going on on there, man!
- jackattack, on 01/29/2009, -6/+36We have a trillion dollar debt. We spend billions of dollars a year of tax payer money to get rid of maybe ten percent of what is actually out there. One major step to get this country out of this crappy time is to legalize it, tax it. Jails stop being over populated, more jobs, law enforcement can actually spend time stopping the bad guys instead of the teenager smoking a little twenty dollar bag of green. And not to mention all the medical help that it does. I had cancer and smoking weed took the place of about 3 pills plus gave me an appetite and getting my mind of the whole cancer thing helped too.
- ParasyteStuie, on 01/29/2009, -3/+32AMERICA! ***** YEAH!
- bpoteat, on 01/29/2009, -0/+27Your reasoning is wrong. It's perfectly legal to make your own beer...yet it's still legal.
- tomjthayer, on 01/29/2009, -5/+32i have a feeling you haven't met very many 'dope smokers'
- MrFisty, on 01/29/2009, -2/+29YES WEED CAN!
- petebot, on 01/29/2009, -1/+27I tried it an nothing happened. I'm down with legalizing it.
