- brbeaird, on 01/02/2008, -5/+30Don't photo me, bro!
- cwm9, on 01/02/2008, -0/+14Very dangerous. 5J (directly to the heart) is enough to damage it. A disposable camera can have 30+ joules. A pro camera can have 3000+ joules. If you hit you hand with this the current won't travel past the heart, and you'll get a big jolt and think, "hey this is harmless." But if you hit someone in the chest with this and they are damp with sweat you could kill them. If you have extra capacitors or a strong flash, you could kill them anyway. Tasers release many small (~.1 J) flashes in a row. A camera flash releases one giant flash. This is a foolish idea. Anyone with enough training in electronics to know how to build a taser safely doesn't need a tutorial like this to do it.
- Lac0ste, on 01/02/2008, -3/+15All we need is more tazers!
- Appox, on 01/02/2008, -0/+10This should be in the Tazer section
- gn0stik, on 01/02/2008, -0/+10It's not even a stun gun. They don't take a long time to charge. They have a complex circuit inside that regulates power, and provides as close to pure voltage, with little current as possible.
This, on the other hand, is extremely dangerous, and without knowing how capacitors work, or the capacitor's value, could kill you. Especially if you have heart problems. Not to mention this will burn the living crap out of you. Notice how the cap was welded to the razor blade for a second? That means it was a lower V cap, that had a fairly high capacitance. This means that since capacitors discharge instantaneously, it has to come out as high current, low V. Which is the opposite of what tasers do. The very minimum that this will do is burn the living crap out of you. Worst case scenario, it forms a path through you're victim's heart on the way to the ground.
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Buried. - isntreal, on 01/02/2008, -1/+9be careful opening those damn cameras.
- hphickman, on 01/02/2008, -7/+14These 5MIN SPAM jobs are getting sick. Going from 1 Digg to 30 in the last minute to land on the front page. How come nobody else is questioning the integrity here? Who are they paying
- gn0stik, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7they're not paying anyone, there's a small group of guys at 5min who submit stories and everyone in that group diggs it at the same time. They are gaming digg, and using it as a portal for 5min, and a web promotion tool.
- IxE78, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7Stupid and dangerous, buried!
- coolchu001, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4this should get buried before someone tries this on a person and end up killing them...
- thesonofdarwin, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3There is a Tazer company that makes... tazers - with a z. So either way is correct.
- Mankar, on 01/02/2008, -3/+6That's a stun gun not a taser and it's TASER not TAZER.
- monktallica, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3My roommates did this last year and we all tried it a few times, it actually charred my skin a little bit where the connectors touch, took several months for it to go away and I still have a small scar.
- TomFrost, on 01/02/2008, -2/+5I agree -- but I gotta go off track because this is getting to be a huge pet peeve of mine. It's T-A-S-E-R. With an S. Even though it's a Z sound, it's still an S. TASER is actually an acronym, and the S stands for Swift. Not Zwift.
- linksus, on 01/02/2008, -2/+4Dont do this. We dont need is mobile music playing chavvy ***** walking around with crude highly dangerous tazers.
- Akintunde, on 01/02/2008, -2/+4Say Cheese?
- Baroja1898, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2 But it's harder to get the cop to sit in the chair.
- Po0py, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2You would do well to read the exasperating comments that people have made under that video. I'm no expert but I'd er on the side of caution when tinkering with capacitors.
- MWeather, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2No, there isn't. Taser International makes Tasers and own the trademark. Tazer would be trademark infringement, much like a department store named Searz.
- yacks, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2They way the guy handles the opened disposable camera.. he is likely to shock himself as well. I used to develop film at a drug store.. for fun I would take disposable cameras apart. On the front of the opened disposable camera, there are 2 spots that look soldered.. connect the two with a piece of metal, a screwdriver to open the case works nice.. I ended up leaving burn marks on a couple of screwdrivers there, but it made some pretty neat sparks. I even had one set on automatic, where it would charge, spark, recharge, spark again.. Pretty fun stuff..
- CR91, on 01/02/2008, -1/+2LOL !!!
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1The 'z' can only be felt when you are tased. *whips out camera tazer*
- nfollmer, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1I think I remember Kevin doing something similar a few years ago......Only with a glove?????
- jmskyrocket, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1hopefully its a cop
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -1/+2It's a remote murder device. *shudder*
- xdeliriumx, on 01/02/2008, -2/+3Buried as "been on digg 50 effing times"
- MadEnvoy, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1Needs more yell. "Say Cheese‽"
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -1/+2hah, mobile electric chair indeed.
- trenchcoat, on 01/02/2008, -2/+2There's no 'z' in Taser.
- blacktriangle, on 01/02/2008, -2/+2You just described all of the cops who use these things.
- potterboy, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1Am I the only one not getting sound on this?
- treck, on 01/02/2008, -0/+0I think it was an XBOX controller
- Baroja1898, on 01/02/2008, -2/+2It actually works! I made one. Here, piggy, piggy, piggy.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -1/+1:D Frat.
- inactive, on 01/02/2008, -2/+1Same here, you must of taken it apart like i did and try to press the flash button
- NoCt1, on 01/02/2008, -3/+2This is old. I think i made one of these 3 years ago. Its fun for a while. But it gets old.
- DearSergio, on 01/02/2008, -2/+1I wanted to see the demonstration on a lady (prefably pregnant) in a wheelchair.
- tidu, on 01/02/2008, -2/+1This might be a surefire win for the Amish.
- Lucas123, on 01/02/2008, -3/+2Darn. I wanted to say that!
- IsmailOo, on 01/02/2008, -3/+1Sick, I'm going to taze the ***** out of everyone now! THANKS!
- cowsgonemadd3, on 01/02/2008, -5/+3your just jealous they are making money and your not.
- Aloyarc, on 01/02/2008, -2/+05min *****.

Original - aim4whirledpeas, on 01/02/2008, -3/+0I've zapped myself before when tinkering with a disposable camera. Now I know why Tasers work.
- chibimmy, on 01/02/2008, -4/+1BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWW!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Djokuuskaj, on 01/02/2008, -12/+2yes, because tazers haven't been powerful enough already. let's just learn how to make electric chairs instead...
