"Oh toh toh toh" - ZippidyDoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Nothing better than community salt to lick.
- djjuice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14funny, i'd like to see someone actually try this and see how far they get.
These are the same actors from the Japanese version of the "Get a mac" ads. - Figs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Yes, it is a joke. Most of the information is either an exaggeration of what is actually done, satire, or just plain silly. :p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12They didnt mention it -- but if you notice as they sit at the counter, you *must* keep your hands palm down and at a 45deg angle. To not do this is rude.
- TheBritishGuy1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"This is gari.... nobody know what it is. "
Haha, this was hilarious. The funniest thing Ive seen in a long time.
(for those who don't know, gari is ginger sliced very thin and is used to cleanse the pallet.) - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7No, gari is used to cleanse the anus after a refreshing yet juicy toot. I know this because I have a Japanese alias.
- Xageroth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Speaking from experience I can attest to the truth of this video, especially about the soy sauce.
- digg-dugg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7mmm, squirrel sushi
- xenoputtss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Definitely. Also the walk is crucial. I can't even count how my times i have been thrown out because I haven't mastered the walk yet.
- Pests, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I can't wait to try that.
- bobbourland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Just eat the effing sushi already!
- Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The deer in my yard would go for that. Or would that be impolite?
- HMMaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Another 'documentary' - how to apologize in Japan:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=s4V_K4eEmbQ - LoveIsRegret, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7I know I'll come off as stupid, but I'll risk it:
Is this video a joke, or not?
Some parts of it actually make sense (like the grade of sushi, asking people if the seats are free, etc.) but the part about the towels not being washed and the talking while pouring the beer...makes me a bit skeptical. - Hizzeh312, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey, does anyone know where the video is (I think it was a commercial) of a Japanese couple at a restraunt? Basically, the husband gets back from America and at the end notes "They even call it ... *gets in close to whisper it* sushi!" and they both laugh as if it were a curse word. That video was hilarious.
- shirosamurai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@Cleanlyness
Again with the stupid comments about Japanese - every time a digg comes up with anything Japanese-related you have something retarded to say about it (complete with piss-poor grammar and spelling).
Does anyone even know what this guy was trying to say in the first place? - inaniloquent, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Mmm... I love a good piece of recycled tuna/barley sushi...
- shirosamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Real mature, dude. Once again, I am not Japanese. I think it's more the case that you type like a ten-year-old rather than my reading skills. Despite that, I'm sure you'll still make a fine burger flipper when you're older.
- rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I ate at a Japanese steak house yesterday actually, with a friend (who eats at them a lot overseas) related to me how he saw someone get kicked out for improperly using one of the sauces. He was dipping one type of sushi into Teriyaki or soy, and the chef told him to leave, and not even bother staying to pay or settle up.
- alexdowns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol, nice parody
- kman2k1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the woman is Shiraishi Miho. http://jdorama.com/artiste.1375.htm

This is an interesting blog by the guy who did subtitles for the video.
Check out another video he did "American Otaku" which is equally funny. - fuzzboxer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You get to wear home the serving dish! Any self respecting sushi-ya must follow this Samurai rule!
- digidelia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the pictures of the pieces at the end had me rolling...
toyota supra, fairlady z... classic. - elainykins, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was believing everything up until I saw pictures of pandas and moose flash by... come on. And then I noticed that all the comments on youtube say it's a joke, so I'm not really sure. And why were they eating with their hands, and not with the provided chopsticks? But the pouring of beer by age seems true to me, because that is what the Chinese do. The Chinese also argue about who pays the bill.
- abrigar1979, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Any self respecting sushi chef would chop your fingers off for following these instructions.............
- chibigoku, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2yes, definitely old, but definitely worth a repost if many have not seen it. Great video!
- diggdong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2And if you don't like your meal, you can slash the chef in half and rape the maitre d'. It's the samurai's way. Digg up or I will cut you in half underling. Mmm, sushi is good.
- MikiKaoru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The girl's name is Fumi Moriya. Her blog (Japanese only) is here:
http://yaplog.jp/moriya-fumi/ - MikiKaoru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The girl's name is Mori or Moriya (the former I'm pretty sure). She's in "Sakura Wonderful Jet" and "Japanese Tradition: Utage" as well. Utage has been broadcast on BS Japan a couple of times now, but less than about .000005% of the population of Japan can access it so I'm not anticipating its appearance on YouTube until at least a few minutes after the DVD release in March.
Incidentally, sushi is traditionally eaten with the hands. - fubes2000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I was confused as hell for awhile until it started to get -really- outlandish. Anyone know of a guide to ACTUAL sushi etiquette?
- ejhdigdug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1An oldie but a goodie.
- newsledbans, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm pretty sure that this is fake, only because of its intentional humor.
- UrbanSage, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"Some parts of it actually make sense (like the grade of sushi, asking people if the seats are free, etc.)"
Only in America does the bit about the grade of sushi make sense :D - Razster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Old Post I see..
- BryanJK, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1That's definitely the weirdest video I've seen in a while :)... kinda makes me gross out, otherwise Sushi isn't that bad, after you get after your fear of eating it... *dugg
- Providence, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Of course this is serious!
/sarc - ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6I was having a hard time figuring out of it was a joke or not, too. If it is a joke, it's not very funny.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2"I know I'll come off as stupid, but I'll risk it:"
Seriously? Oh my god. I've lost all faith in my fellow American. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1lawl japs cant read XD
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3"I. am. a. robot."
