No wonder MSM is not covering it. Let's make it viral! - inactive, on 10/23/2008, -16/+292Forwarded from the "I support the Hempstead 15" facebook group

Subject: Need your help!!!
Hi folks. Matthis here.
We are currently working on a call to action for our supporters surround the Hempstead 15's courtdate Nov. 10. We'll be calling for people to join us at the courthouse at 8 a.m.
Furthermore, shocking videos recently released showing the unprovoked sidewalk trampling and near-killing by NCPD Officer Quagliano of Nick Morgan, a veteran of Iraq and close friend of mine.
As well, we will be providing a website where folks can donate to Nick's immediate medical fees.
What we need now is exposure. The mainstream media was made fully aware of our actions before and after and CHOSE not to cover it.
We can respond by forwarding on the following link to all of our contact lists in an effort to make it go "viral," which may force coverage of police actions Oct. 15, as well "free" the Hempstead 15. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http://www.youtube ...
As well, please forward on photos which I have loaded into my facebook photo albums.
Lastly, we need to add as many new members to this group as possible as fast as possible. If you haven't already, please invite all of your friends to join this group and explain to them the importance of membership and support.
We're not just standing for our rights here, folks. We're standing shoulder to shoulder with you for the rights of Americans and oppressed people world-over.
Thank you for your commitment to seeing justice done at this most crucial time.
Peace and Solidarity,
Matthis Chiroux - sapphire9488, on 10/24/2008, -12/+185This made my stomach turn. The way our veterans are treated is beyond shameful on every level. Still don't think America is a police state?

I'm not sure if I could restrain myself after witnessing something like this. Those people should have been on those cops like stink on *****. This is an outrage. Whats next? The horse is clearly spooked and should not be there in the first place. And what's with the cop using the horse's ass to push people back onto the sidewalk? If he did that himself, he'd at least be behind a shield.

See how the administration in collusion with Halliburton/KBR 'supports the troops"

Profiting trillions off the backs of US troops and service people.
Clip is from the excellent documentary 'Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers'
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-662148672 ... "The story of what happens to everyday Americans when corporations go to war.
Acclaimed director Robert Greenwald (Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, Outfoxed) takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. Iraq for Sale uncovers the connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq (Blackwater, Halliburton/KBR, CACI and Titan) and the decision makers who allow them to do so."
America is going bankrupt from endless war. 12 billion taxpayer dollars a month wasted in Iraq. No end in sight. Over 4200 US soldiers killed. Untold 100s of 1000s of Iraqi civilians dead. Over 4 million displaced, homeless refugees. Yet the neoCON zionist war profiteers and their networks are raking in trillions of dollars at our expense, unabated. This ***** has gotta stop. Seriously. Haven't we had enough?

- Proximity, on 10/24/2008, -12/+65I saw a lot of chaos followed by a frightened animal accidentally stepping on a guy it didn't see. No one sent out an attack horse to try and trample this guy on purpose. Come on guys. I'm as against overzealous police activity as much as the next guy here but many of you are talking like what happened was a premeditated attack.
- sheeplescareme, on 10/24/2008, -0/+35on that note, it may not be a good idea to plan one in georgia. cobb county just got a tank for their swat team.

The revolution will be fought in a two pronged attack with both schools of thought. - Godlike, on 10/24/2008, -6/+32I've seen way worse things (really) in person and I've been super ***** pissed off for years, but nobody wants to listen no matter how you speak to them or with what voice. How they all love their fantasy of America! I saw a cop break my friends hand/fingers with a nightstick, slam them in the car door and then tell him he should have been more careful and nobody ever believed me or him, ever, not a single person even took us seriously, even with a medical report. They just ignore you because there is really almost nobody left who cares and without proof of exactly what happened not even the ACLU can help you: most local law offices really are beyond reproach from anyone but the fed. These people have to be filtered out before they ever become cops. First let me say this: Nobody who is the child of a cop should ever be allowed to become one. Things would get a lot better very quickly if that were the case. If you know I'm right you know that I am DAMN RIGHT.
Most normal sheeple don't care unless something is happening to them. It's the 'when they came for me' story and it really is happening RIGHT NOW. With all the idiot cops, DA's and lawyers in this country you don't think that regular Americans suffer massive civil rights abuses EVERY SINGLE DAY? You think cops don't just steal from people they arrest before they bring them in? You think the callous, uncaring nature is not a FUNDAMENTAL PART OF police and law practices?
This is the only comparison that I have come across that even remotely gives you the picture: Imagine all the faceless people driving down the highway. Think about how you see them, think about what they mean to you: nothing. They are, if anything at the moment, an inconvenience. This is exactly how 95% of anyone in the government, including police, see you AND your rights. They want to look like they are working and go home. Most of the remaining 5% are firemen.
If we actually were electing anyone that would do anything for us, ever, the very first thing he would do is completely disband the DEA and start penalizing cops that are constantly accused of abuses but never investigated for them.
There are not even enough jails and courthouses in the nation to hold all of the bastards in government that should be there, and it's not okay. I know you think it is. I know you turn your head, I know you leave everyone else to their fate...
...but I will be watching when they come for you. I do everything I know to do and it is still so little.
This was long, if you read it, thank you: go do something. - vertigo32, on 10/24/2008, -2/+28Just think...if someone had tried to push the horse away, they would be assaulted for assaulting an officer.
- 471776, on 10/24/2008, -2/+27In fairness, I don't think it was intentional. It looked to me like the whole situation was a little out of control. The police probably would have been better off on foot in that situation. Having horses so close to loud and angry demonstrators was asking for trouble. Mounted police are not really necessary for a situation like that.
I think the whole thing was a result of poor planning. The police could have set up a small barrier to cordon the crowd, had a few extra officers on foot and this might have been avoided. As it was, the line for the protesters to stand behind was unclear, and it was all kinda chaotic. The police might have thought the guy was attacking them or something, overreacted, the horse gets excited and accidentally stomps the guy. Not entirely surprising, given the hostile and confusing atmosphere (not that I think this was an acceptable incident).
This wasn't a malicious act, it was the result of poor planning and poor responses from the police. I think they could have responded better to the situation and should issue a formal apology, and review their procedures and training for a handling a situation such as this. - marcabminion, on 10/24/2008, -1/+24This just shouldn't happen.
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -4/+27I agree. Pigs on horses = trouble
- inactive, on 10/23/2008, -0/+23There were many groups involved in the protest, and several compelling speeches were made which I recorded. You can find the MP3's here
http://whitehouseprotest.org/index.php/20081017158 ... - perhapsimcrazy, on 10/24/2008, -1/+21Absolutely Disgusting. Both the treatment and the act.
- geneusutwerk, on 10/24/2008, -0/+19I always thought horses were a bad idea for crowd control. They may give cops a bigger presence but the horse has no idea whats happening. The whole situation just spells trouble.
- kemp34, on 10/24/2008, -2/+21You don't see the irony in this man "fighting for freedoms" then coming home and literally having those freedoms trampled?
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -4/+23Here is a letter sent to the Barack Obama campaign:
My name is Nick Branson, and yesterday, for the first time in my 27 years, I voted, naturally for Barack Obama. I am a firm believer in the hope for change that Obama speaks of, and it inspires me.
There is a story that just came to my attention, via Digg.com, complete with video. This website sharing network is heavily pro-Obama, and a large spreader of videos and articles which educate the public about the truth behind the rhetoric, and in my opinion a fundamental part of the success of the Obama campaign. The story is this:
During the last presidential debate, there was as usual these days a protest outside the proceedings at Hofstra, and some Iraq War Veterans in full uniform were attempting to enter the debate hall, supposedly for the purpose of attempting to address the candidates.
I am well aware that order must be maintained and police cannot just let people file into the buildings during important government business, however what ended up happening is that the police became violent, and one Iraq War Veteran was dragged to the ground and a police horse stepped on his face. If this is hard to believe, I have footage to offer, but I warn you ahead of time, it is graphic and disturbing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlI7tQCqwbU
As a citizen who has attended several protests, including the protest of Bush's second inauguration, I have seen firsthand the kinds of inappropriate behavior on the part of police, and it sickens me. Much of this can be solved by policy changes that will make it so that so many Americans aren't so appalled at the actions of the government. But there is definitely a large number of active and aware citizens who are tired of being afraid to say what they know needs to be said, tired of being treated in the same manner as terrorists or enemy combatants, tired of "free speech zones", tired of the media never reporting the masses of people who assemble for their causes, tired of being pepper sprayed, tired of living in what seems to be moving further and further towards a police state.
If there are crowds of people willing to endure injury out of principle, knowing that their deeds will never be publicized futher than some fringe YouTube viewers, if there are crowds of people who will take time out of their lives regardless of how much they really need to work those hours to pay their mortgage or rent, to go and try to make their voice heard in whatever fashion they can,...
THIS IS WHAT AMERICA IS ABOUT! THIS, to quote Sarah Palin, THIS IS REAL AMERICA! Real America is the citizens who are willing to give up everything they have, because without the freedom to make their voices heard, they know they have nothing. Real America are the people who actually know something about the Constitution, about the history of our great nation, and what made it what it is today. Real America are the soldiers who have been fighting in the wars propagated by the administrations, who have every right to say what they want, wherever they want, without having to worry about a police horse stepping on their face.
I can think of no more noble, more American cause, than to eliminate areas where there can be no free speech, to eliminate whatever protections officers of the law have to abuse their power at peaceful protests, and to reinstate the confidence the American people have that if something is wrong, they can say something about it! - miakeru, on 10/24/2008, -4/+21Agreed. This is really unfortunate but it doesn't look like police brutality or anything like that. If you look at the freeze frames added for dramatic effect, you'll notice that it was quite clearly an accident and the police did not appear to be acting overly aggressive.
We also have to take the editor's word for it to believe that he was pulled down and out of line randomly. If he was, what happened that led up to this? There's no video evidence and not really much information other than a YouTube video taken out of context.
It's tragic, sure, but looks like an accident. Maybe next time the police tell people to move, they'll move. You have the right to protest, but that doesn't mean you can protest wherever you want and don't have to listen to the police. I hate the police as much as the next guy, but this video didn't appear to show any sort of brutality or officers acting aggressively. - sultanica, on 10/24/2008, -7/+231984, there is a revolution going on, YOU just don't know it yet
- toekneebullard, on 10/24/2008, -0/+15If you want a riot, be sure to bring out the riot gear.

- PennFarmer, on 10/24/2008, -7/+21How is this "Education"? And what happened before the video? Other vets were arrested according to the description. What were they doing? I'm an Iraq vet as well and being one does not automatically make me right about anything. Including the war.
- monkeypill, on 10/24/2008, -1/+15I will vote for Obama as well. But I hold no illusions to the fact that he is a part of the two-party monarchy which needs to be broken down if this country is to return to the principles set forth in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. That will take an organized and sustained show of "the will of the people" for true change - as it always has. With emerging circumstances creating a perfect storm of public sentiment, along with the force of the internet to rapidly communicate and inform, I feel the time is ripe for such a change and will do my part to help enlighten as many of my fellow citizens as I can about the realities behind the elite forces and banking cartels that our so-called government is beholden to, and who have been controlling our destiny for far too long.
Enough! I am an American. I live in a democracy. I am NOT afraid! - ABadPerson, on 10/24/2008, -2/+16Hoof To The Face.
- Recidivus, on 10/24/2008, -1/+15If horses and hysteria are not a good combination, why did they use them where they knew there would be a crowd?
- gravylookout, on 10/24/2008, -12/+26Exactly, nothing in this video remotely resembles "police brutality". It was an unfortunate accident. I can't speak for everyone here but continuing to provoke a large, obviously spooked animal is never a good idea in my opinion.

- Belin, on 10/24/2008, -5/+18The police shouldn't have been using horses so close to a riot situation.
- jftitan, on 10/24/2008, -2/+15yes your right.. but the problem here is. a Riot police officer ended up pulling Morgan to the ground. Due to the confrontation, the horse stepped on Morgans head.
What matters is the fact that the riot police in effect caused Morgan's injury. - 7come11, on 10/24/2008, -11/+23logged in to digg this.
- keyforce, on 10/24/2008, -2/+14It was an unfortunate accident, but refusing medical care after that accident is unacceptable.
- 4LI3ER70, on 10/24/2008, -8/+19I may get dugg down for this, but I go to Hofstra and was there when this event took place so let's not stretch the truth. What occurred is in fact unfortunate and I don't condone police brutality under any circumstances, but this is what happened:
- The university was on lock-down for 24 hours effective Oct 15 12:00AM until Oct 16 12:00AM.
- This event was open to the public on the South side of campus, but only open to people with credentials on the North side where the debate actually took place (obviously, security reasons).
- The group of people in question were angry that they could not cross over to the other side of campus where the debate was taking place, so they began to protest in the streets.
- Officers on horseback were standing by to prevent any suspicious individuals from attempting to break in to the university. In fact, numerous individuals were making bold attempts to pass the security blockade.
- As a result, one particular crazy ended up spooking a horse, which involuntarily trampled one of the innocent vet bystanders.
As far as I'm concerned, I was pleased with the degree of security we had on campus. Many students went home in fear over the probability of these events occurring. People don't take into the account how many others would have been at risk if we didn't take these precautions. I don't blame the police in this situation. They were there to protect everyone, ESPECIALLY Obama and McCain.
Get back to me when you hear the rumors involving the snipers we had on our rooftops. People blow things incredibly out of proportion. - JohnFlux, on 10/24/2008, -0/+10Ostizzle,
