After a while you will start to recognize those words you learned. When you have gotten that set of words down start learning another set, keep going until you understand a full Tv-show.

- pzrapnbeast, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1What would be the best way for me to learn japanese. It doesn't have to be the quickest. I would much rather the most efficient. I'm really not interested in throwing away 2 grand on Rosetta stone so anything a little more cost effective would be nice
- prasithg, on 01/21/2009, -0/+1Though it is a fascinating article and I definitely agree that the strategy would work really well for english and other romance languages with a set sentence structure I really don't see how it will work for eastern asian languages and other vastly different sentence structures.
Take Japanese for example where class structure determines politeness level and how sentences in general are structured. Merely learning words or phrases even will still not get you any further towards comprehension. - Alpinefolk, on 01/20/2009, -1/+1Nice information on why people fail at learning a language and strategies for learning faster.
