How fast can a flash flood happen? This fast. watch!
youtube.com — I ’d heard the term flash flood before; I had no idea just how flash-y they meant. You can literally see the wave coming from what looks like a hundred yards away, as it rushes through a “valley”, destroying everything in its path.

- ziffel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Let me guess, you didn't have the attention span to view it past the first 20 seconds when nothing was happening.

- thebrawl, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23Call me strange but I would like to see a video of just that old guy walking away from a flash flood for 5 minutes.
- DeathonWheels, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1They must be British.

- dagr8tim, on 10/10/2007, -51/+2While I know flash floods can come as literally a wall of water. I'm doubting that this vid is real.
- iziizi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5are you joking you retard. Someone would totally go out their way to spend their time creating the CG for this.
- LexisNexis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8the best CG in the history of man.

- ziffel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Every video and photo on digg has some clown claiming it's a fake. Everything's not a damn conspiracy.
- JaYBrooks, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9All it needs is the jackass that thinks he can make it across. Looks like the area was a flood plain. Wonder how long those houses are going to last there. At least they look like houses in the back ground.
- wushu18t, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1watch news from phoenix in the summer. jackasses abound.
- masterJDK, on 10/10/2007, -6/+13The power of nature is amazing to me.
- Eivo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+136So fast an old man can walk away from them?
- christoast, on 09/04/2008, -2/+18lol i was waiting for every one to die
- allenu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I thought when she cut away from the two standing by the flood that when she cut back they'd be yelling for help in the water. Now that would've been something.
- christoast, on 09/04/2008, -2/+18lol i was waiting for every one to die
- opticsnake, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2That's some wild *****.
- Division, on 10/10/2007, -0/+50Anyone else see the 4 white posts at the edge of the water that seem to state: "This happens more than we'd like"
- NateDiggle, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I was hoping they'd have to run for their lives from it.
- jpt62089, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10Very interesting, but a bit boring :( I was expecting it to be faster and look more damaging.
- mntnbkr7, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1more like a ditch or gully
- Depthfunction, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13It was nice of that soccer player to help the old man.
- KnightMareInc, on 10/10/2007, -5/+33that wasnt even a flash flood, more like mud slide.
- supersiddle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14That's terrifying! Partly because at first i thought it was a flock of sheep turning into brown water...i now know its just water.
- Bigcat151, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Not really that fast.
- doctapeppa, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4I want to kayak it!
- BillDoE, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27Dugg because it wasn't made into some cheesy music video.
- tamurlane6, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Dugg for Al Borland in shorts
- compgeek, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1looks more like a mudslide not really a flash flood buried as innaccurate
- idamonster, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0Still waiting for the flash-y... ho-hum
- q1006662, on 10/10/2007, -0/+30Nothing makes a flash flood look less dangerous than when an old man goes up and stands right next to it
- DaleoftheUK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Dugg just for the old man 'keepin it real'
- Vicujozobenaxod, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3That's not a flash flood. Michael Moore's toilet overflowed, 3 plumbers died trying to stop it.
- Amoveo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2It looked quite flashy it came up all in the sudden and just rushed across that field. But I must say I am unimpressed by how floody it was. It didn't expand out from it's little stream that it created and the old guy could stand right next to it without worrying. Thats not a very terrifying flood.
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Did you notice the water going in the opposite direction.
- Shandooga, on 10/10/2007, -0/+33I have diarrhea that is more menacing, although it's about the same color, consistency and speed.
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I got to go take a flash flood.
- lanzemurdok, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1poopie.
- steelese, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is actually a mud flow. It's similar to a flash flood, but not nearly as fast. I have seen some flash floods that get a whole lot more hairy than that. The real difference is the amount of mud and debris hold the water back in a sort of moving damn. That is why it came all of the sudden. In a flash flood it usually starts as a trickle, then quickly moves up to a full on torrent.
- Cyclonic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Youve seen a hair flood? Does this correspond to Shandooga's comment above?
- Tserk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2The guy in the yellow shirt play a NELF rogue, I can just tell by looking at him.
- dttn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'd ride it.
- professorChaos, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uY_ZW8K-aUU this is my town and my video but this happened in like 5 minutes. I dare not drive thru the Copps and Pamida parking lot as it had 2 feet of water.
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3So you are one of the idiots that goes in the water.
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Was your BMW in the shop that day?
- ahawks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, FYI, it's not a good idea to drive in that kind of water.
I pulled out of a parking lot in a big rainstorm once, and the entrance/exit had a large puddle, which I figured to be ~1 ft deep. It was actually deep enough for my headlights to submerge, and water got in my air-intake. Ended up frying my air mass flow meter, which regulates how much fuel to give the fuel injection system. Total repairs: ~$500. For a puddle.
- StacysMom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5And I thought a flash flood was 100 or more guys in trench coats. :)
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16How fast could a flash flood flood if a flash flood could flood fast
- kestrel127, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6How much flood could a flash flood flood if a flash flood could flood fast?
- Helois, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I love how old men never walk backwards, instead they turn away walk 3 steps and turn back. Weird.
- WEBCMG, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8This is a proper flash flood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxweiRNlHbo&mode=related&search=
Unfortunate for the residents of Boscastle... - mrjeffery, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4I got bored, but then imagined it was a river of chocolate. Then i got hungry
- dickeytk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4From youtube comments:
JackyJ2: Cool but there are better photoshopped videos on the internet.
flyingv603: haha 1. Photoshop is for stills and 2. This is real
twisteduo: Totally agree FAKE! I got flamed by these morons too for calling it out. I've photoshopped videos before, trust me it can be done. period.- Camphlobactor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The people who make comments like those are killing brain cells.
- IdiggUdiggMe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dugg for his beard.
- Cyclonic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1thats it? Thats a flash flood? Meh. I was expecting more from all the epic descriptions you hear on TV.
- ani625, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Zero damage?.. disappointing
- ahawks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's not much of a flash flood. That was a pretty open flood plain, with open space to see the water coming, and plenty of room for the water.
The real danger of a flash flood is in canyons. A rainstorm a couple hundred miles away can come bashing through a canyon at insane speeds, and you have nowhere to go.
I live near the area where the Big Thompson river flooded in '76 here in Colorado... go look that one up. It was a long time ago, so not that many pictures, but it killed 145 I think. - markthebum, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1OMG thats alot of chocolate rain!!
- NotBeinOriginal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0universal studio's flood seems more flash-y than this one but, theirs is fake :p
- m4csrgh3yk3v, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1so that's why you aren't allowed to play in stormwater drains...
