- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36What a beautiful video.
- PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27If this video gets removed by the RIAA because of the soundtrack I will be pissed.
- chedderfiend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20I agree... just makes you feel good. yay for this lady and her granddaughter. nice song choice, too.
- keegan3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19What a great use of YouTube :) Nice to know its not all nut shots and stupid people fighting.
- Nitro187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Did that ever heal up nicely. Very nice.
- CornMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Wow, great video indeed. My daughter also has the same type of birthmark on her thigh, but not that severe. I'll definitely keep a closer eye on it.
And I'm happy to see the girl growing up healthy and beautiful. Very touching. - goeatsmsht, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13That's awesome!!
And the little girl seems none the worse for wear after the operation. Barely a scar after 18 mos. - Nitro187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Did you even WATCH the video?
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"and she shows its life and its death"
This made me go through the whole video thinking "Oh no, she's going to die at the end :(".
Please, describe your stories correctly.
On a more related note, it's nice to see her recover so well, and grow into such a cute little girl. :) - noncn4mst, on 04/15/2009, -0/+6i doubt very much - she was a baby, afterall.
- kyote, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@iconoclast7: what a ***** dork. get a life moron.
- PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That video was really interesting, I'm glad they put that coin on the babies head so I know how severe it is.
- debtman7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Our daughter has a hemangioma on her cheek, it was there when she was born but the hospital told us it would go away in a few weeks. Not sure what they were smoking... We left it alone for a while but eventually it became apparent that we were on the many years to going away rather than one that will go away quickly. Early on we had issues with it as it would scab up and then she would scratch it open and bleed everywhere, which also caused a lot of screaming... It was painful to the touch and seemd to be continuing to grow. She's now almost a year old and it's still growing, slowly, and little spidering veins run out from it. At 6 months we made an appointment with a pediatric dermatologist to get it taken care of but they are in high demand, so our appointment isn't until after her first birthday. Hopefully they will be able to take care of it, although it may be a challenge since it's very deep and sticks out significantly, it's about the size of half a golf ball now.
Really, it doesn't cause a health concern, but I want it gone before she's developed enough to have it effect her self esteem. We already have to deal with questions and stares everywhere we go, everything from kids pointing out her 'big cheek' to adults asking what happened to her. I don't want her to have to deal with all that when she's older. Kids have enough problems these days without having to be obviously different when it's treatable, and luckily our doctor agrees and helped get us set up for treatment. I don't understand the attitude of many doctors who just advocate letting it go until it clears up on it's own. - trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A story with a happy ending, too many times this is not the case. Isn't it better to have surgery when your younger so the scar tissue will heal anyway?
- kathaclysm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I have birth marks all over my one arm, they are called port-wine-stains, which are slightly different than these Vascular Birthmarks (they're red, but not raised, they were there the day I was born and they'll never go away... but since they aren't on my face and one looks like a bunny, to me they're not worth lazering off).
I know the big concern with Vascular Birthmarks such as this little girl had are that they can grow inwards as much as they grow outwards. Doctors always asked me if I had any on my head under my hair because of this. They can occur on organs other than the skin, and this can be very dangerous if they grow in the brain. - bashnu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Offering help through experience with problems is vital.
Thank you. - lordthor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3god, why did that almost make me cry? Now I feel stupid >_>
- dougm68, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3amazing video!
chloe has a very loving family! - RHollister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2good video, amazing how a baby can recover so quickly and perfectly from a severe scar.
I think an important message is to act on these issues soon rather than later in life. - Xageroth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wow I can't believe doctors would just let them live with that. I shudder to think what would have happened if they didn't do anything about it
@lordthor, you aren't alone on that. it was very touching. - Phoenixfury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That video makes me want to hop on iTunes and buy that song! I'm not joking either, I've always loved that song and a touching video like this reminds me of how much I love that song. That song was fitting for this video and for the RIAA to take that away would be like Goliath shooting himself in the foot.
- Zreitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2im sure she'll grow up to be a pretty lady..
- Boba.D.Fett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you have kids it definitely makes you appreciate it even more so when they are born without something like this.
- Chickenlip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Looks like that little baby got a visit from LATUALATUKA!
- hybridcreation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm just struck by how freaking cute that little girl is!!!
Glad to hear all is well. Modern medicine at work. - cnicdrv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am 30 yrs old and have had a hemangioma on my left cheek since birth. I've had 2 surgeries to remove parts of it but not all of it because the doctors told me it is too close to my eye and that they might cut a nerve and I won't be able to move my eye. Last time i saw a doctor about it, about 3 years ago, they told me they would have to make an incision on my jawbone and peel my face way to get to the tumor so I've opted to let it be for now. I've grown accustomed to it but it still hurts on occasion and kids still sometimes ask what's wrong with my face. I'm used to it now but I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. Hearing this story made me realize I'm not the only one with this problem. Thank you. Thanks for the links to those websites also. Very informative especially since I am thinking about getting the tumor removed again.
- Coolestdude1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3That was very inspiring and a nice video. Even tho i pictured it as a very large pimple it was still cool!
- FriedGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Having been a dad for only two years my heart ached when I saw what was happening with her birthmark. I only hope that anyone who develops this gets as good help.
- LavaHot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@lordthor
I know, I almost cried too, but it feels good to see someone genuinely overcome debilitating problems, especially such a cute little baby girl.
I would also like to point out that this video is right next to the dateline sex offender tape. Oh, irony. - steve693, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great video. Whatever doctor they got really did some amazing work.
- Jibberwalk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2... Infancy is one of the most impressionable times of our lives. It is possible that this may have had some sort of psychological effect. On the plus side, she looks full of sun shine and smiles in the after-photos, so I don't think we need worry about any emotional scaring.
- jcs_goog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's one of those videos that will make you cry.
- msyankee2u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1debtman, while you wait for your appointment with the dermatologist. why not check out the 2 web sites i mentioned at the end of the video, theres alot of information there that can give you a heads up on what can and can not be done for your sweet child. That way you will be armed with information when you very possibly her, theres not much we can do, other then laser treatments. laser treatments only work on fading the redness of the birthmark, it wont do anything for the deep portions. and steriods are mainly used to prevent additional growth until the birthmark is done growing. Check out the MSN support group site ( http://groups.msn.com/vascularbirthmarksupport ), the discussion board thre is full of parents going thru the very thing your going thru, or have already gone thru it, and have oodles of what to expect and what to ask. If theres anything at all I can do, please please, Ask me. i always try to check my chloes_granny@yahoo.com email daily. I wish the best for you and your family, I know all about the stares and comment. Shoot when we were in NY for the surgery there was one lady who actually turned around walking backwards to keep staring, and not even try'n to hide the fact she was doing it.
Hugs to u and hugs to ur lil angel, good luck!! - hexx54, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4God Bless her
- robbiecoltrane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My Son has two Hemangiomas on his body, his chest and lower abdomen. They we very light at birth but continued to grow. At around 9 months they stopped growing and he has no adverse affects from them, I was shocked when the doctor indicated that it might be 7-10 years before they disappear. He is turning 1 on Feb. 13/07 and going strong. We are very lucky since they have caused no affects. Great video and thanks for being brave and raising awareness. The sight that was mentioned is worth visiting. http://www.birthmark.org/hemangiomas.php
Also http://www.novanews.org/NOVAinCanada.html for us here in Canada.
Thanks - uberchaoslord, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4wow you're a tard. how does the video help her? the surgery DID help her IN THE PAST and she's hoping the info will help other people. Travel back in time and get your mother to breast feed you so you aren't such a bitter prick. Or even better, give her a diaphragm.
- Whodugg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Amazing transformation! I can't imagine why they had so much trouble getting a doctor to fix the problem, she clearly couldn't go thru life with it intact, it was overwhelming her small head. She is a beautiful baby and the scar is hardly noticeable at all.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1beautiful, beautiful child.
- keeper1616, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3good video - but I couldn't help but thinking 'video blogspam' for the first few minutes...
- PrescriptionX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"10 months later" Is this kid destined for a career with the mafia (or acting I suppose) or what? If I had one of those growing on my face now I would probably try and pop it and end up bleeding to death... :(
- meatpopsicle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1It happened.... no pics or vids please
- gardnmi, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3You should check out the Lady with the 200 pound tumor, the boy who's skin fell off, and others on TLC.
- V3X3D, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2beautiful progress indeed. A bit of laser scar removal will make the job even more perfect.
I wonder what kind of psychological impact this must have had on the child since the birthmark was on its forehead for 6 months or more. - Jibberwalk, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4She was pretty much the sweetest Unicorn ever. Until the doctors made her into a regular pony.
- themastersb, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Pop it.
- goeatsmsht, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3or young girls lying.......
- skellingtonjr, on 10/12/2007, -14/+4It's not a Tumma!!!
- Yurimanna, on 10/12/2007, -23/+1Of course she would make a video about helping what has directly impacted HER.
There is no such thing as a selfless act. - iconoclast7, on 10/12/2007, -89/+2I'd help spread that lady's legs...
