- freehunter, on 10/11/2007, -3/+82I tried with Ubuntu 7.04 and Firefox 2.0.0.3. Guess what happened? Security holes like this don't happen anymore, not on a Mac, not on Linux, and not even on Windows. Welcome to 2002, update your computer.
- salmonmoose, on 10/11/2007, -4/+81"dugg down then, apple + firefox = win"
Ahh yes, but Microsoft + IE = Win32 ;) - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -35/+110I tried it, nothing happened. God bless IE7 and Microsoft.
Go on, Digg me down Apple and Firefox fanboys. - iwasdj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+71I just tried it and got herpes.
- rauz, on 10/11/2007, -4/+60Or just use Firefox period. But I think that this video might be pretty old (even though it was uploaded this january) because, even for IE on Windows XP, that browser seemed to be a bit too vulnerable. Maybe it was running on an unpatched version of SP1. I dislike XP and IE just as much as the next guy but that was over the top :)
- tuxidomasx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+51porn sites used to be the worst.
back in the day, u really had to be a professional web surfer to navigate those without mucking up your comp. - morsosky, on 10/11/2007, -2/+51im totally gonna try that on a school computer
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -10/+33i shall raise you from the dead
- Shando, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22I had a habit of typing in Goggle.com instead of Google a few years ago, and all I remember from that site was a redirection to Google.com. I'm guessing whoever owned that domain has recently sold it
- kcpwnsgman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22what is this tubegirl everyone speaks of? Maybe I will just go do a goggle image search...
- swordman69, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18I think the point of this video is the fact that someone is using goggle.com to blast computers that are unprepared. They didn't make this video so you could recommend ways to prevent it from happening.
- TubaTechno, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17On an un-patched Windows XP machine....you're pretty much screwed anyway.....
You mostly don't have to worry if everything is patched and you're using FireFox. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17...trying to stop popups and get your virus scanner updated was tricky with only one hand. I used to make a right mess of my keyboard.
You ended up doing the money shot to a popup advert of 'Spyware Blocker' or something like that :) - africansk8er, on 10/11/2007, -6/+21I'm going to be honest, that scared me. Just misplace two letters and your computer is screwed.
- ACrazyGerman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Make it STOP make it STOP!
*Curls up in corner shaking and rambling make it stop make it stop....* - dignews, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12If anything I think its gonna make them not want to go to the site!
- Scynet, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Don't spam person, you already posted that down there.
- ahawks, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10That probably was the point of the video.
It sure was nice though, going to goggle.com in Firefox on Ubuntu and seeing a regular webpage with a "Firefox prevented this site from opening a popup window" message. - vspazv, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9OMG!!!
THE GOGGLE.COM DO NOTHING!!! - BryanJK, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8why would you go to jail for mis-typing google?
- lostcause, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9I never said it was invincible but I'm sure MOST can agree it's still safer than IE.
- SEMW, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6@person:
Incorrect, IE7 on Vista was not vulnerable, though IE7 on previous versions of Windows (and Firefox/Opera/etc. on Vista) were; due to IE7 on Vista running in protected mode by default.
Not, of course, that that means you should switch to IE7 on Vista if you currently run Firefox/Opera -- the ANI exploit, being an exploit in Windows rather than the browser, was very much the exception rather than the rule; browser-specific exploits are far more common, and IE is still more likely to be targeted than the other two (especially Opera) due to its marketshare. - person425, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Why are people so excited that they went to goggle.com and nothing happened to them? Is this video meant to be anything other than funny? I know I laughed pretty hard :-)
Besides, that can happen to anyone on any OS using any browser. I myself am into linux + firefox (noscript etc), but it seems even firefox plugins are prime targets these days (http://larholm.com/2007/04/06/more-0day-in-firebug/)
All that said, when you get owned through your browser, it prolly isn't going to look nearly that funny :-) - dbavaria, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7It's not about using IE, Firefox or a Mac...just update your software when updates are available. Also use a pop-up blocker.
- smojo12, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I agree...after I saw this video for the 1st time you know what I did? I went to goggle.com hah
- TubaTechno, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6It's called reverse psych. look it up and then see how many people in this thread has actually tested this site.
- bigfkncee, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5http://personales.ya.com/casitasoler/james/diggimages/orly.jpg
- MannaPC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3This is actually a poor rip of a video made by SiteAdvisor from probably a year ago.
I cannot seem to find the original as it has been ripped so many times such as this one. - Murdats, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5this was an old video done by symnantic or something, no doubt the site is owned by different people now and we arent all running an unpatched version of IE5 or so.
it pops up every few months, rarely with any facts though. this is nothing to worry about, unless you are running an unpatched system you bought 7 years ago with no form of security and all settings set to minimum - AustinMeoang, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@morsosky
That's exactly what I was thinking - DaleoftheUK, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The reason why it doesn't happen any more is because this video is old, I've seen it before months ago. I think it's safe to say most OS's and browsers now wont let this happen.
- orientis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3You're so awesome.
- pentomino, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Computer Over. Virus = Very Yes.
- redfox2600, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Anyone know the name of the song?
- Bob042, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I remember someone accidentally typing this on a school computer years ago. They have a system that wipes the drive back to a preset image of something every reboot. The good thing about that was that the damage was temporary, but the bad thing was that it was impossible to patch because it would just revert. The computer got owned.
- aminorking, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@zeronome: shame that you are wrong
http://www.whois-search.com/whois/goggle.com - RJZ797, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'm so tempted to try it . . .
- enginbeering, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2no it doesn't...
- jrchin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Actually, it's waiting for you to forget an O and add a G.

It was a reference to the teacher who was convicted for not stopping the porn pop-ups? Sorry, I think that I misspelled it. - NOD32user, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1There you go, half a Digg for the first half of your post.
