- indraneel24, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I got free movies for a week from Redbox.
- mishmash215, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1how?
- seeversjm, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5I know a cop who rents these movies all the time so he can watch them while on duty, he will love to know about this.

- zloyshaman, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0oh well. Is it legal at all?
- Yez70, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yerp, it's like a drug dealer that gives free samples.
They just want to get you hooked on $1 DVD rentals from a box. - outhouseinput, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Yes, I'm sure using promo codes is illegal.
Of course it's not illegal you idiot. Otherwise how else would they let people try out the service? - dooglius, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0But using them more than once is.
- hunkster2010, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2nope it isn't
- Yez70, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yerp, it's like a drug dealer that gives free samples.
- MikeXpop, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1How do you know Redbox won't figure this out, and charge everyone who used certain promo codes? They have your credit card info after all.
- raytube720, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0and it's been going on since redbox started... over 2 years here in Denver.
- woodcoxcb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1and run around charging random credit cards of people who thought they were special for their free dvd? sure. that'd last a while.
- DarkCovers, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Do they have HD movies?
- MagicCake, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0No, unfortunately. I wish they had some Blu-Rays, but to be honest normal DVDs don't look that bad to me.
- badassninja, on 10/10/2007, -10/+6My ass in in HD, would you like to rent that?
- ECas123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+61080P?
- mateo60, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1320i for me
- ECas123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+61080P?
- Skunkhair, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10dammit, I feel like my best kept secret just got out. Tip for you all: the promo code is tied to the credit card, so you can only use the code once per card. So if you have multiple credit cards you can use the same code per card gaining more free rentals. There are a bunch of sites that post codes with ratings on how well they work. Enjoy.
- tehrob, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3single use credit cards for the win!111
- outhouseinput, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's a really good idea. I didn't think about that.
- ahawks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Damn that ruins my idea.
Take a laptop with DvdDecrypter installed and just sit in the parking lot (or inside mcdonald's, plugged into A/C if your battery dies) and rip DVD after DVD.

- 11familyguy11, on 10/10/2007, -10/+4Rent a DVD? I'm not sure I know what this 'renting' thing is. It must be like that weird 'buying' thing some people do...
- MagicCake, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2No no, it's a great deal. Just one dollar per movie. Think of it as getting the chance to rip a movie at full quality for just $1 a pop. Not bad, eh?
- richmessenger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I can think of thousands of movies I would watch for free or even 1$-3$, but i can only think of a few I'd buy ( hint: the ones i have bought). Are there really that many movies you wanna see more than a few times?
- reed311, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, people have to "work" for their money so that they can buy things. Even the people who make movies work so that they can feed their children. Someday you'll get a job and learn the value of a dollar.
- raytube720, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0you can send email to one of them and get an SMS msg back on yer cell phone with the latest codes..
The newest movies available to rent on Tues at 12:01 AM.
I quit redboxing long ago when they consistently had crappy c-rate movies that even rotten tomatoes did not have reviews for, and the ones they did were poorly reviewed. I watched a bunch of that and swore that box off. - sedition, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3Wow. A coupon. And it requires you to use a credit card. To rent crap movies. That's... amazing.
- vhold, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1My sentiments exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a lot of money from the deadbeats who go for this that are by extension lazy and don't return it on time.
- Macshiba, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1That's pretty neat, but I don't feel like going to McDonald's and doing that. I always drive by talking ***** to the people who pay for their 1 day DVDs.
Plus it's so much easier just to download whatever I want.
Sorry, but Piracy rules.- reed311, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You poor baby.
- dext3r, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12my internet connection sucks, so it takes 4 weeks to download anything. I'm enjoying paying $1 for a movie, then ripping it. er i mean... uh.
- Broadband, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Not a single code worked for the RedBox at my Albertsons
- crownedgriffin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I work for Hollywood (we have similar machines), so I could just generate all the free codes I wanted .. if I wanted.
If RedBox's system is like ours, we can easily look up your rental history and see usage of promo codes. Our codes only work on the machine they were generated for though. I can only assume RedBox will now do the same thing. - auero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Sadly I did this a few times. Too bad they come to bite you in the ass and charge you for the rentals. You're only allowed one promo code.
- coit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wow, a whole $1. That must've really hit you hard....
- rudezombie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33So the big secret hack is to use a promo code? Hey, here's a mad leet secret trick to getting your food discounted at the grocery store: use coupons from the circular... KEEP IT ON THE DL THOUGH
- outhouseinput, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2NO! You just let out my biggest secret...MEIJER SUPER SAVER DAYS AHHHHH!
- Cowfrommars, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Damnit, the first rule about fight club...
- cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Why not just sign up for a DVD mail-rental service like Netflix or for Canadians, Zip.ca? If you are fast enough, you can rent enough DVD's for it to work out to $1 per rental and you don't even have to leave your house.
- forku, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2*****! now it's on digg, everybody knows. This has been going on for 2 years and redbox has seemed to not care. Now with all the digg users doing this , Redbox will probably release fewer codes. Oh well, heres to secrets on "Redbox Rape" as we call it.
1) some codes are only for new users, all codes will only work once, but it's once per credit card or Arch Card. So If you want to reuse codes, buy some Arch cards , they're like 5 bucks a piece but since you'll never charge anything to them , who cares.
2) Get to know your Mcdonalds staff, they seem to get codes that are store specific or just released.
3)learn how to rip a dvd
they're you go rent-rip-return-repeat , - apt11, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Unless Redbox is at my mailbox I'm not moving one inch further - even for free. (Free rentals at most local libraries.)
- Pureeviljester, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2wow, how cheap can people get
- Fracture98, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Best I've done is $5 for a hand j... oh, wait, that's not what you meant.
- darkein, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ive been doing this forever, just keep switching credit cards..lol
- 303X, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I know a guy who calls them after every rental and tells them the DVD's scratched... works every time for him.
I've actually got credit before b/c the kiosk was stuck in XP's "Now shutting down" mode and it was a hassle to drive 20 mins just to return the rentals the next day - not worth the $3 in gas. - mishmash215, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0i work at longs and the code is breakroom!
- cham44, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I have been charged 8 times for using different valid free promo codes. I have called redbox each time and been credited. They are fraudulently charging customers. The screen says $0 then your credit card gets charged. They count on the $1 being small enough that no one will call. When you add all the fraudulent charges for all the redboxes in the US I'm quite certain that it adds up to a few million. They are not concerned about a class action lawsuit because they know they will make more money by fradulently charging customers than they will have to pay out when the lawsuit comes.
- gmf2000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Same story here. When I check out it says $0 but they still charge my account $1.09. I don't think the people here are even checking to see if Redbox is charging or not, they just assume that a free movie is free.
