- CloakandSwagger, on 11/05/2009, -54/+663Well, this is just a part of the learning process for them, because their fathers will now sit them down at the vineyard where they summer and explain to them that they went about defusing the situation all wrong. As any of the elite and powerful know, you don't just interfere with supply of news, you must *become* the supplier of news.
As I'm sure, one father will interject, "Son, me and my buddies don't have to worry about people discovering unpleasant or embarrassing news on us because instead of trying to remove the stories, we own the news outlets and we simply remove the investigators and reporters and we pay actors to just rehash and read AP wire stories, fluff pieces, sports, and of course our very own corporate propaganda..." with one last sip from his martini and a pull from his cigar he finishes, "...let me get you a meeting with my dear friend Rupert Murdoch so he can explain the process in greater detail..." - enantiodromia, on 11/06/2009, -2/+574So now instead of a small story, they've made international news.
- chicagojack, on 11/05/2009, -12/+451Actually, this is brilliant. I wish my buddies had taken all the school news papers, after I got caught with that goat.
- appleseed1234, on 11/06/2009, -12/+361Swings both ways, though. Last night I heard a girl in the hallway debating with her friend whether or not she was going to call rape, apparently after regretting that she got trashed and hooked up with a rather unattractive frat boy. ***** ridiculous.
- mmijatov, on 11/06/2009, -61/+390Fraternities are lame.
- juslen, on 11/05/2009, -13/+303what a bunch of morons
- StrangeFamous, on 11/06/2009, -2/+284Females like that are truly the worst. They make the situation all the more difficult for the real rape victims out there.
- jbmcb, on 11/06/2009, -12/+233Wow, every fraternity is populated with the sons of rich media tycoons? There must be a total assload of media tycoons, then.
- krets, on 11/06/2009, -1/+199Did you stop and punch her right in the face?
- Myztry, on 11/06/2009, -3/+175Now that the story is online - let's hope he doesn't steal the Internets...
- darkzealot89, on 11/06/2009, -29/+169Fraternities ... because I NEED to buy my friends!
- Chompy, on 11/06/2009, -2/+136"***** Chad, he's right. Now we've got to steal everyone's computers!"
- krets, on 11/06/2009, -4/+131Thumbnail fits the subject perfectly...
Yeah. - nonapp, on 11/06/2009, -9/+135Stay classy Phi Kappa Psi
- Sirlolalot, on 11/06/2009, -19/+127I heard in 1990 Glenn Beck stole 20,000 newspapers to stop people hearing about his alleged murder & rape of a young girl.
- hideyourlovers, on 11/06/2009, -5/+99Dude, my dad totally owns a dealership! He will totally hook you up... we're drunk!
- smashTasker, on 11/06/2009, -60/+147Future republicans
- darkened, on 11/06/2009, -27/+114I really have to throw this out there. Regardless of if they stole the papers or not, that girl was 99% most likely not drugged, she drank too much and blacked out. The statistics really show this from http://www.metro.co.uk/news/article.html?Date-rape ... even though it's UK based for how stark the results are it shows these girls are just dumb, get drunk and regret THEIR actions. Then call rape.
People might feel its blaming the victim but if you get too drunk to be in control of your actions, guess what? You're still responsible for your actions or what occurs to you, regardless of what any other organizations claim. - frenchfries11, on 11/06/2009, -1/+87I love it when that happens.
- inactive, on 11/06/2009, -2/+80A female sorority on my campus last year stole nearly every copy of the student newspaper in order to hide a misuse-of-funds story about one of its members, the student body president. Stupid bitches- the paper was re-issued and the story became way bigger than it was before.
- NBCLocal, on 11/05/2009, -1/+70Agreed. Doesn't the paper have an online edition anyways?
- xshare, on 11/06/2009, -10/+76Unfortunately, as any of us in Greek organizations know, that's not true. If a girl has sex with a guy and later regrets it, having had even one beer, the guy is at fault and can be charged with rape. Regardless of whether it was completely consensual of the time, regardless of the situation, the man is at fault. The risk management seminar put on by the university for every fraternity details exactly that. Effectively, you really just have to hope that the girl doesn't decide at any point later in time to call rape. Or you can decide to never hook up with a girl that has been drinking at all. Which effectively means you can decide to never hook up with a girl.
- jrm125, on 11/06/2009, -9/+75For anyone who saw South Park....maybe we should change the meaning of the word 'FAGS'.
- getjustin, on 11/06/2009, -1/+66Good thing there's not some type of well-indexed, widely available electronic version that people can use to get the same news.
- justlior, on 11/06/2009, -1/+62A young man is walking through a small village one day and decides to stop by a bar and have a beer. He walks into a bar, and sees a grizzled old man, crying into his beer. Curious, the young man sits down and says, “Hey old timer, why the long face?”
The old man looks at him and points out the window, “See that dock out there? I built that dock with my own two hands, plank by plank, nail by nail, but do they call me Simon the dockbuilder? No, no."
The old man continued, “And see that ship out there? I’ve been fishing these waters for my village for 35 years! but do they call me Simon the fisherman? No, no. ”
The old man continued, “And see all the crops in the farms out there? I planted and have been farming those crops for my village for nearly 45 years! but do they call me Simon the farmer? No, no. ”
The old man starts to cry again, “But you ***** one goat…” - JinxCrow, on 11/06/2009, -5/+63Gee...maybe they shouldn't rape anyone to begin with, then they could do some other sort of fun pledge ***** instead.
- GrandZooby, on 11/06/2009, -4/+60George, it's okay - you still got to be president after all.
- matt9m5, on 11/06/2009, -1/+51Ironic? no.
Coincidental? yes. - Falldog, on 11/06/2009, -6/+56Is it really theft if the paper are free?
- agrabes, on 11/06/2009, -7/+57or just douchebags with no party affiliation...
- krets, on 11/06/2009, -1/+51"No way Hollingsworth, let's just cut everyone's phone lines!"
- jrm125, on 11/06/2009, -13/+59more likely current
- shillabus, on 11/06/2009, -2/+45Look what you've done, Barbara Streisand.
- inactive, on 11/06/2009, -6/+48Alleged* date rape.
The problem with these stories is that the idiot public will become immediately judgmental even IF they were 100% innocent. - BobSutan, on 11/06/2009, -11/+53"The article, according to McDonnell, was about a girl who filed a police report saying she had been drugged at a Phi Kappa Psi party and thought she may have been raped while she was blacked out."
Translation: I drank myself stupid and don't remember what happened, but may have hooked up with a guy and now I regret my actions.
IF she was truly comatose and someone diddled her, sure that's wrong. If it's just a case of drunk sex as most of these "college rapes" turn out to be, she's no less responsible for her actions than a drunk driver. - becrg12, on 11/06/2009, -3/+39Is this fraternity for rapist retards? They come up with the plan to steal as many newspapers as they can only to leave behind their homework thus creating a bigger media story. Brilliant!
- adambascle, on 11/06/2009, -28/+64Frat boys: the most accurate, justified stereotype.
- kingofthisnight, on 11/06/2009, -2/+38If someone is "too drunk" it is probably best to just avoid the situation. I always figured that was the classy and respectful thing to do.
- themagicfetus, on 11/06/2009, -13/+48The frat guys I know from college have a hard time dealing with women post graduation. I'm glad I didn't rush. If you aren't that great looking you'll probably get some play you wouldn't otherwise get. The networking helped some people get jobs they didn't deserve but I chose to work hard and earn my job and I'm better off for it.
- phike, on 11/06/2009, -3/+37"But first, let's pregame with a circle jerk"
- Apex3, on 11/06/2009, -0/+34I can't stand that girls can get away with this. How big of a bitch do you have to be to claim someone RAPED you just to cover your embarrassment of sleeping with an unattractive person? Rape is a huge deal, it can pretty much ruin someone's life, how can you do that to someone just to spare your personal embarrassment for the next few days?
- qerplonk, on 11/06/2009, -2/+33The Streisand effect in action.
- ajadoniz, on 11/06/2009, -1/+32"Geez, McDugal, we must destroy the internets!"
- xshare, on 11/06/2009, -10/+41because the newspapers said that it was rape?
- thehuntofdear, on 11/06/2009, -1/+31Who the ***** doesn't network? Networking occurs naturally if you're a normal person. I just don't pay to do it.
Frats have plenty of upside for plenty of people. I just didn't want or need that style of life. - mrbroli, on 11/06/2009, -2/+31Two "Is this your homework, Larry?" digg stories in one day?
http://digg.com/odd_stuff/Rhode_Island_teens_left_ ... - thebreach, on 11/06/2009, -2/+29The really sick part to me is that even just being accused of rape as a male will destroy your rep and maybe even your life, even if it is found to be *****. And the bitch who lied about it usually does not get punished and still looks like a victim.
- themagicfetus, on 11/06/2009, -0/+27I studied a very specific field in engineering so it wouldn't have helped me much. Either way, nepotism isn't good for anyone in the long run.
- jarvadise, on 11/06/2009, -5/+31Maybe someday these guys will get into congress and vote against rape victims having their day in court.....
oh wait..... - krets, on 11/06/2009, -1/+26Not gay fags, just fag fags.
