- CanceledCzech, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11I don't have much faith in my knowledge, but I'm pretty sure that emo is, for lack of a better term, basically goth and punk combined; sort of like punk with a depressed, "dark" side where everyone is a pussy. It's also my understanding that the majority of "Emo" kids really have no basis for their depression. I mean, for christ sake, I have my problems, too. What about thos starving kids in africa, huh? You think they're cutting their arms or writing lame poetry about their situation? I don't think so, probably because they're too busy dying, you jack-ass. You live in suburbia, chances are you still have both your parents, and you get a warm meal everyday. You have money, you have no reason to be such a whiney little brat. And I know you have money, too. How else could you afford all that stupid "Emo" crap.

It's important to understand the distinction between 'emo' as pop culture, and kids having real problems as a result of the systems and situations that they are growing up in. Seems like we're no better than any other generation, just a bunch of stupid jocks laughing at the kids who are alienated and bullied. Or maybe we just forget as we get older how painful it is to be a kid.

Every one of them talks to a couple high schoolers, shows bits of the "I must be emo" song (obvious parody) and then goes on about all the guides and quizes you can find online (more obvious parodys)

i agree. The music style for emo is a bunch of dweebs that would lose a fight to a cardboard box crying about how the world is against them. Goth music is a bunch of guys who yell really really loud in a deep voice about how much they hate the "Conformist" people.
