Yes, let's spam social networking and discussion sites with our URLs!
ugh.
Oh yeah, and Digg is ALL that matters, I don't know who this author is, but they better check their facts.

I haven't buried so many comments in a thread since before the election. - parax, on 11/18/2008, -0/+3#6 is just speculation. There's no way to know if social media is just a fad until we're looking back on it in 15 years. I also think writing lists is a fad. Condensing half a book worth of thoughts and examination into almost a dozen bite-sized statements makes for good linking from social media web sites, but it cuts out anything that engages our critical thought facilities.
In the future people's brains may not have any knowledge, but you'll be able to name a topic and people will instantly rattle off 10 myths, 8 killer tutorials, and 13 factoids about it. - Bith8654, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2You're correct, it was a great comment and I learned a lot from it.
- annjay, on 11/17/2008, -1/+3correct
- DirectTulip, on 11/18/2008, -2/+4Not always, but yes, a great read.
- yomamaphat, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2Why should I believe in any myth?
- OpaqueMurdock, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2Dugg down for being too long and borring... use less words in your posts.
(just kidding btw,) : )
I get hassled like that for posting in a conversational "voice" and including a complete point of view with supporting details now and then. Sometimes for posts not must longer than yours above. It seems to almost piss some people off that I want to have a meaningful discussion on a topic. I'm in the wrong place... I know. : ) - sinisterouge, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2buried for innacuracy...
digg is all that matters...
/s - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1Another article referencing what happens on Digg - we must be really special...
- QubitTarutaru, on 11/19/2008, -0/+110 Random Assumptions of the Effectiveness of Organizing Thoughts in a Numbered List and Portraying them as Fact
I hate these lists... - grungefan, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2I agree
- OpaqueMurdock, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1I wonder if you have a clear understanding of the techniques used by marketers on a site like Digg. Not that I really do mind you, but I would think only the most idiotic of them would actually post a url, or even reveal that they were attempting to sway you in some way. I believe they mostly act like regular people... with an agenda.
So yes I would agree with you "Digg = Serious Business" especially for these marketers as long as people are mostly unaware of their influence. - iPoul, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1Funding is win.
- davengineer, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2How do I know this article isn't a myth?
- d03boy, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1They forgot: If you're popular online, you're not necessarily a douchebag in real life.
- davidlow, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1Buried for #10. Blasphemy!
- BootLoot, on 11/18/2008, -5/+5definitely true what you said about Digg, I made a post about it on my blog last night actually, weird timing.
- resolva, on 11/18/2008, -6/+5A great read
- mongo22, on 11/18/2008, -5/+5Great article! I learned from it.
- wonderbriefs, on 11/18/2008, -3/+3A great read. I keep getting people adding me on Twitter, then removing me, then adding me as if I'll add them back just for being annoying. Why bother trying to game your way into getting followers if they're not genuinely interested in what you have to say? The only benefit of a huge number of followers is for crowd-sourcing. If your crowd isn't representative of your actual fans and only whatever gullible folks fall for your schemes, then your crowd-sourced results are going to be unreliable at best.
- OpaqueMurdock, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1It could be if people put a bit of effort into it. But honestly I don't know how to make that happen.
I was playing around the other day with an idea that there could be a site like digg (or a sectioned off area of digg) that required a somewhat simple logic test each time you logged in. : ) I would likely fail the test now and then... but enjoy my visits much more when I did manage to get through. heh. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1I concur
- viserov, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1Yep.
- Doomsan, on 11/18/2008, -2/+2How ironic #10, if this wasn't here i would have never read it, dugg nonetheless.

- Falcons17, on 12/08/2008, -0/+0One additional thing to keep in mind is that future employers can and do look at recruits online reputation as well. While social networking can be fun, it is important to keep this in mind and not place anything online that you do not want certain people to see.
- khmohsin, on 11/19/2008, -0/+0Good saying,i agree
- bpfromMG, on 11/24/2008, -0/+0Thanks for the tips... Definitely a good list.
- aryxza, on 11/24/2008, -0/+0Social Media only works and benefit both sides only if the user is knowledgeable and growth together with social media
- iMacFiend, on 11/18/2008, -2/+1I'm trying to help a print based company move intot he web. There is a lot of either over evangelism or downright fear about social media - I agree with the part about there being rules, but at the same time I think it is important to not be scared to try new things..I'll certainly be shoving this up the nose of those in my org who need it. thanks for the link!
- xadamxwaltonx, on 11/18/2008, -2/+1I like the part where he bashes digg.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+0Absolutely not, man. You really think so?
- netgeek06, on 11/18/2008, -6/+4Great Content Always Goes Popular I believe this myth.
- honeybrass, on 11/18/2008, -2/+1I don't believe, I don't BELIEVE!
- locaz0r, on 11/18/2008, -5/+1Great read and true. I mean Digg gets the article or picture out there, but you can't forget there are other places like reddit and up and coming sites similar to these two that essential do the same thing. Also about the friends thing, online friends are sometimes great and lets be honest they know more about computer stuff than your real friends.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -9/+211. Always bury boontobias
